Avatar m tn There are many procedures of mole removal like by shave or deep elliptical excision, excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole) and laser removal. Your dermatologist may choose excision with or without stitches, depending on the depth of the mole and the type of cosmetic outcome desired. You are usually given local anesthesia before excision and pain killers after these techniques. It may result in scarring esp excision and cautery.
Avatar m tn Various methods used for mole removal are excision and cauterization. Although laser removal has been tried for moles, it is not usually the method of choice for most deep moles because the laser light doesn't penetrate deeply enough. You can get this mole evaluated from a dermatologist and get it evaluated. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

A= Assymetry: if one half of a mole appears different than the other half. B=Border: if the borders are notched and irregular. C= Color: if the mole exhibits more than one color, usually dark brown, black, or purple. D= Diameter: if the mole is more than 6 mm in diameter. E = Elevation: if the mole is greatly elevated.

Avatar n tn I am left to conclude that somehow the mole was burned by the laser, and is subsequently peeling (thereby missing skin and pigment). Currently, I do not have full health care coverage (only catastrophic insurance) so it is not feasible for me to go see a dermatologist. I called the laser treatment center who told me that the laser light probably traveled to the mole area.
Avatar n tn Common methods to make it less visible include dermabrasion, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing. Dermabrasion, and chemical peels are for removing the top layers of ski and replacing it with fresh, new skin which lies below, so they may not be effective to remove scars at a particular site. There are creams available which claim to lighten scars; one such is Vit E cream, which is said to speed up the healing process and also to lessen the appearance of the scar.
Avatar f tn Hello, For few days after the laser mole removal, apply frequent soaks with 0.25% acetic acid, normal saline, or cool tap water lasting 20 minutes every 2-4 hours, followed by gentle wiping of the skin. Cold compresses are immediately followed by the application of a bland emollient ointment like Vaseline or Aquaphor. Application of appropriate dressings like composite foam, hydrogel foam or silon TSR may also be useful.
Avatar m tn If it is very deep involving multiple layers of skin then it may cause a small indentation. In that case laser resurfacing can be considered. But if it is superficial then it may heal with passage of time. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Hello, This looks like an indentation scar after mole removal. These may take a long time to heal and fill in when collages in formed but sometimes it may take longer or less depending on the depth of the indentations and the response of the skin. If they persist then you can get collagen filling and laser resurfacing done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Or is it raised due to there being left over mole deeper in the skin? Also, if I leave this scar alone, and just keep applying vitamin E oil/cream and using my Silicone Strips, will it flatten and revert to the normal skin tone overtime? I'd appreciate it if anyone took the time to respond, I need some opinions.
Avatar m tn I tried using hydroquinone for a while, but it had no effect. Is it possible to get skin cancer from a removed mole that had no cancer? And how can i possibly get this removed and make sure it actually heals. I added some pictures!
Avatar n tn About three months ago i had a few moles removed off my face by the shaving technique. My first question involves the scarring. My dermo that perfromed the mole removal did not seem very knowledgeable for the treatment of the scars that would be left in place of the moles. So i tried bouncing ideas off him but he was not very responsive so I just decided to use mederma.
Avatar n tn When located on exposed parts like the neck, hands and face, these skin blemishes can be embarrassing. This is why people do mole skin tag removal. Moles and skin tags can be removed surgically through cutting tools or laser. The modern technology of today resulted in almost painless removal of these blemishes-with or without anesthesia. However, many people consider it practical to just cut off the skin tag. Scientists say that it is generally safe to cut skin tags away.
Avatar n tn Hello, The scars of mole removal should fade after some days. Apply vitamin E on this scar and it should go away after some days. If the scar persists then the possibility of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation should be evaluated. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment.
Avatar f tn Hello, What you seem to be having is due to atrophy of the skin or muscle due to the mole removal. It should gradually improve on its own in a few weeks but sometimes it may take even an year to fill. If the dents remain then collagen filling from a cosmetologist may be needed. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing.

Avatar n tn I had asked for an appointment after an upcoming vacation, but they want to see me next week, which I am doing. Is is unusual for a mole removal site to darken? If it is not anything serious, are there any option for lightening the color? Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn I suspect the doctor cauterized the mole instead of lasering it because I smelled burnt skin during the procedure. Does laser mole removal produce burnt skin smell too? I had a flat mole, but I don't know why he still chose to cauterize it. As a result, I got this bad looking dent on my face and I am really sad. Before the procedure, he told me that laser mole removal would not leave scar afterward. Thus, I assumed he was going to remove the mole by laser.
Avatar n tn the only way to fill a pitted scar is to have collagen or one of the many variances to it as a skin filler injected below the surface of the mole.
