Avatar n tn The treatments vary from melanin blocking agents combined with topical medications such as Retin A which causes the body to exfoliate the skin to rid the body of the hyperpigmentation while prohibiting new melanin production to laser treatments. The treatments wholly depend upon your needs and skin type. For standard non-hormone induced hyperpigmentations Hydroquinone usually reduces or removes hyperpigmentations very effectively. It is a bleaching agent.
Avatar f tn My skins alot lighter on the parts of my body that are not exposed to the sun as much such as my upper thigh area. I tried some skin lightening creams and got no results. I also heard vitamin c lightens skin is this true? So I was hopeing to seek professional advice on which products I could use and what sunblock is most effective or any medical procedures. Thank you!
Avatar n tn I've heard that hydroquinone is dangerous, and I've heard of arbutin, kojic acid, and many other more natural ingredients, pills, phenol peels, laser treatments, whatever. My desire is to have a nice light golden skin tone like Rihanna, Beyonce, etc (instead of darker brown with golden/yellow undertones, like I am now). Thanks for any help!
Avatar m tn I'm looking for an effective skin lightening or bleaching product that I can use at home (and that isn't too expensive). Many of these products advertise that they are for removing age spots. Will these work for me? Or does anyone have a good home remedy type solution to this? Thoughts on any products you have used would be greatly appreciated!
193137 tn?1367883663 I recently tired the Murad Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel to reduce the freckles on my face. However, I found that it lightened my skin in varying degrees of intensity, so that parts of it were darker and parts were lighter. Then I found out that the product uses Hydroquinone, which is banned in the EU and could potentially be carcinogenic. Now I'm afraid to use most lightening products, even the ones from Jurlique or Bliss.

Avatar n tn Hello, These hyperpigmentation scars after post inflammatory changes of molluscum should go away after some days. But if they persist, various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. But they should be used after consulting a dermatologist. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion.
Avatar f tn Hi, Even though laser treatment is safe, some complications may occur. This includes skin lightening or depigmentation, which is usually temporary and usually resolves within 10-14 weeks; skin darkening or hyperpigmentation, which may also fade and recovers; infections: rough skin texture, allergic reactions, or sun burn effect. For hyperpigmentation, a bleaching agent has to be used to erase the dark color.
Avatar n tn You may be able to lessen the contrast with regular skin by lightening the border. Have you asked your laser surgeon? If so, you may want to get another opinion from a diiferent physician experienced with laser resurfacing and its aftermath. Best. Dr.
Avatar f tn Are there other creams using a different agent with less or no safety concern?I have a medium/tan skin tone; any thoughts on why I got PIH ? Can over-zealous laser treatment cause it?

424991 tn?1203448114 Hi, There are new technology in the market now that may help you. Cosmetic dermatologists offer skin lightening regimens using dermabrasion and laser therapy.Lightening creams that are dermatologically tested may be used but the effects may not be comparable. Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 25 year old white female who has recently noticed a skin discoloration above my upper lip and moving down now around my lowe lip. I'm getting very self-conscious about it- it just came about probably a few weeks ago- it resembles a light 5 o'clock shadow - I know weird. There is no possibility of being pregnant and I use the Nuva Ring as birthcontrol.
Avatar f tn however, the skin on the upper lip is far too sensitive for laser hair removal, whatever your skin tone. I have spent a fortune on creams such as Clinique's dark spot corrector with little effect. The issue is that the damage caused by the laser is so deep no topical solution is effective. I fear that the hyperpigmention will worsen over time, which terrifies me as the situation is already distressing enough.

Avatar m tn What kind of treatment would be the best to get the rid of acne, scars and bumps and get back my normal glans. Surgery to install some new skin or laser treatment? Thank you in advance. Waiting for the kind reply.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if anyone knows any way of treating the discoloration. Has anyone tried laser? Has anyone experienced fading of the skin color over time?
Avatar m tn It has both cytotoxic and antiproliferative effects on melanocytes (pigment producing cells) and may produce earlier, more pronounced skin lightening. Adverse effects include pruritus, mild erythema, scaling, and burning. so use it as per the dermatologist’s instructions. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Both hyper pigmentation and hypo pigmentation lightening of the skin can occur with laser treatments. To help prevent this, you should avoid direct exposure to sunlight for a couple of weeks after a laser treatment.
Avatar n tn I have recently noticed a very light-brown skin discoloration surrounding the inside creases of my buttocks down to my genitals. It is flat, smooth and does not itch or otherwise bother me. I gave birth to my son 10 months ago and have lost a considerable amount of weight in the last 6 months (from 190 to 120 at 5'4", before pregnancy I weighed 170) I am 27.
Avatar f tn Hello, Thanks for posting your query. The lightening of skin due to many years of bleach usage can be due to post inflammatory hypopigmentation. However it has to be differentiated from vitiligo which is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. If it is post inflammatory hypopigmentation then with sun exposure the white areas should eventually repigment but treatment of vitiligo is specific.
Avatar n tn a long time ago (maybe a year or so), i was talking to someone about some brown patches on my skin (and theirs) that look like collections of freckles, and that my endo said they were caused by my thyroid problem. i said i'd post if i found any more info, so hopefully whoever i was talking to will see this!
Avatar m tn Hello, The Mayo Clinic reports there have been reports of skin discoloration of either lightening or darkening, and facial redness after use of Accutane , but the incidence of occurrence of these side effects is unknown. What you are having are side effects of the drug Accutane and when you are taking Accutane, you should avoid going out in the sun.
Avatar n tn Dark Skin Patches And Skin Lightening Tips Dark skin present near the groin or on the inner thighs is a normal phenomenon. Due to constant skin friction that takes place from the thighs rubbing against each other while walking or running, the skin tends to get darker. Another factor contributing to the dark skin is obesity and people who are over weight tend to experience this condition.
Avatar n tn I am 44 years old, and have gone, in 2 weeks, from having 44 year old skin to skin of a 60 year old. Could someone please help? I'm very distressed.
Avatar n tn so far I've found out that skin lightening creams can be a solution, and I was wondering if loreal skin lightening cream works? Or maybe you can suggest some other products that do work.
Avatar n tn Tiny: You can use a skin lightening cream such as hydroquinone 2%, available over the counter. Or a doctor can prescribe stronger versions of this plus tretinoin, another lightener. Beyond that there are chemical peels and laser treatments. The trick is to keep up the skin loghtening regimen and use broad-spectrum sunscreens year-round to minimize new freckling. A dermatologist should be able to help. Best. Dr.
