laser

682777 tn?1226687522 This is unique because it is relatively painless and unlike the laser hair removal process, IPL works equally well on most skin pigmentations without removing any of the pigment. IPL hair removal is reported to safely and effectively eliminate hair of all colors: blond, red, brown, black and even white. There are differences between laser and IPL. In IPL the intense light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat.
Avatar f tn I would strongly suggest you google "IPL and Laser Damage Support". Then read all about what lasers have done to others. Not just immediate damage, but 1-3 yrs down the road as well. You'll need to start looking for answers to heal the dermis, epidermis and deeper damage now, so that you may stave off any damage that could 'pop' up years after a laser treatment.
Avatar f tn I have never had laser hair removal on my upper lip. In my 20s I've shave my upper lip with a razor and now I have melasma 3 years ago. Everything I have read here really touches me because it sounds exactly how am suffering. I've tried doing tons of researched and bought everything everyone pretty much rave on. And like anyone else still suffering. I'm at my last resort, I'm doing thru dual yellow laser treatment from Norseld.
Avatar m tn I decided to undergo a course of IPL hair removal treatments in an attempt to solve the problem, however it appears to have increased the hair growth. I had 10 sessions of IPL whereby the laser was directed on the shaft of my penis. I have now become extremely worried that I may have damaged my penis because I am observing the following things.
Avatar m tn On January 4 2011 I had an IPL laser treatment done under my eyes to help reduce dark circles, the skin is very thin due to damage from sun exposure. The next day, my left eye started twitching on the bottom corner lid of the eye near the nose. I ignored it and attributed it to stress, but after a month with no let up I called my dermatologist and was assured these non ablative lasers cannot penetrate deeply enough to cause any nerve damage. So I let it go.
Avatar m tn they also had another goggle which it was not see through but she told me she used that only for IPL not laser! I have my treatment in a week but I am not sure if it is safe or not! Can I use IPL goggle which is not see through?
Avatar f tn I can't comment on fraxel treatment. I do have experience with IPL. When I could afford it, had several treatments on face and chest. My skin looked better than it ever had. I suffer from rosacea (the acne subcategory), so technician cleared up the redness, and broken blood vessels...which I didn't know I had until she told me. It is common for sufferers of rosacea to have these. The only problem with IPL is that you may need periodic treatments to keep skin looking good.
Avatar m tn Hello, Apart from laser treatment, if these are capillary telangiectasia, then photothermal coagulation with laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) is employed and if these are venous telangiectasia, sclerotherapy can be employed. Please discuss these treatment modes with your dermatologist and check out the type of telangiectasia that you are having. I hope it helps. take care and regards.
Avatar n tn ve seen different therapies available, but I am not sure which one I should be looking for (i.e. IPL / Fraxel Laser... There were other laser types but I am not sure.) Different places have different treatments and I just wanted to have a better idea what might remove this single flat mole, and cause minimal to no discoloration if removed. Please guide me to the direction and type of professional I should look for.
Avatar n tn Hi, i have unslightly spider veins on my nose, a skin specialist that i saw advised against having laser treatment as i have a dark skin tone (Iam mixed race). He said for people with dark skins laser treatment isnt advisable as the scarring is more visible? Kindly advise.

647391 tn?1275016633 If they are to be removed for cosmetic reasons, electrosurgery and cryosurgery can be used. More recently pulsed dye laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment are also used. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Light technology is ever changing, but the last time I checked (six months or so ago), IPL (intense pulse light) was often recommended as a "first line" light treatment for redness. IPL is technically not a laser and sometimes goes under many terms such as "photo facial". In order to be effective you need around six treatments spread out over several months if I remember correctly.
Avatar m tn I will keep the forum posted of my experiences with the new prescriptions. I will also be trying out IPL but very cautiously as my skin is not very fair so may not be well suited to this treatment. The doctor advised that they would using less light intensity just to test. Well let you know how it goes.

Avatar f tn Hi, 'Laser treatment for melasma - A Wood's lamp test should be used to determine whether the melasma is epidermal or dermal. If the melasma is dermal, laser (or "IPL") will acually DARKEN and worsen the appearance of the spots. Dermal melasma is generally unresponsive to most treaments, and has only been found to lighten with products containing mandelic acid. In all treatments for melasma the effects are gradual and a strict avoidance of sunlight is required.
Avatar f tn Hi im 18 and i was diagnosed with rosacea i have fair skin and have always flushed and blushed ect but now its worse and i can see broken caps all over my face from flushing attacks from heat or skincare products my GP has put me on oxytetracycline but i looked it up about it and it says its for acne which i dont have just flushing and redness on my cheeks and nose. I was thinking about IPL does this get rid of some of the deeper blood vessels or is it just the surface ones?
Avatar m tn Hello, Cherry angiomas are made up of clusters of tiny capillaries at the surface of the skin, forming a small round dome, which may be flat topped. If they are to be removed for cosmetic reasons, electrosurgery and cryosurgery can be used. More recently pulsed dye laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment are also used. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn IPl or laser - You could try this however it could be an idea to give oral meds a try and let your skin have a few more months time to try and recover/lessen inflammation level before pursueing this avenue. I only say this because IPL has had a backlash effect on a couple post-accutane flushers.
1171751 tn?1265889823 After one more IPL, my doctor is thinking about stepping up to Deep FX, which is a much more powerful laser treatment. However, I may have to deal with some pigmentation side effects there as well. I'm not a doctor, so I obviously can't guarantee these will work for your son but they may be worth talking to the doctor about. I actually started my own thread asking for other treatment options for myself.
Avatar n tn Other options include chemical peels, laser treatments and intense pulsed light therapies (IPL) which may be helpful, but may aggravate pigmentation in some cases. ref:http://dermnetnz.org/colour/postinflammatory-pigmentation.
Avatar n tn i dont even like drink. but the question i wanted to ask you is about all these new laser treatments that are gonna "cure" the problem. several years ago i went to a doctor, i live in belfast who used the ipl treatment (cooling gel and elastic band snap) and he told me that i would be left with white clear vein free skin, but i wasnt. he took a before picture. after about 9 treatments and £1000.00 later no change to my face.
