Avatar n tn I was wondering how to treat skin discoloration. I have severe sking discoloration on my upper inner thighs. The skin is darker in areas. I use to heat up heating pad repeatedly and place it in my lap and I thought that may have been the cause. I have stopped heating it up but the skin discoloration is still there. I think it tends to get worse in the cold. I am not sure if my weight loss may be a factor.

I use bleaching creams for a period of two weeks or less as long there is no sign of improvement I discontinue.

This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin. Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Pls discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them.Also then get the possibility of acanthosis nigricans ruled out.

Avatar f tn to locate a small study showing that an AlexTriVantage laser can remove this type of discoloration. I used the doctor locator feature on the website to find a dermatologist in my area. The laser treatment wasn't painful or even very expensive. The discolored skin turned black after the treatment and flaked off after a few days. BTW, this is the same laser used to remove tattoos.

I have recenlty started exfloiating, its been a month i feel clean & good after the exfoliation but my skin tone is still not even. I also wear sunscreen and moisturize regularly. I live a lifestyle of a bodybuilder, so my diet is very healthy and i am very well hydrated.
