Avatar n tn old I banged my forehead on a cardboard box that had a big gold staple on it and I had to get stitches. It left this oval scar on my forehead. I'm now 25 yrs. old. Do you think maybe I can go and get the scar lasered so it can look less noticeable or is it too old of a scar to even get it treated?
Avatar n tn I had a car accident many years back and have excess scar tissue as a result. I also had 15 stitches inside my upper lip. Years gone by and it is noticeably larger. I am going this afternoon to have the scar tissue removed via laser. My lip wasnt bad for the first few years but over time it became alot worse. Avatar f tn Anyway, my Gyne has agreed that the scar needs to go and had booked me in for a Laser Fenton’s. I read loads about ordinary Fenton’s, stitches and the like but the leaflet she’s given me says that they leave the wound open and don’t stitch. Can anyone let me know if they’ve had this done and how it went, healed, the pain??
Avatar n tn Just wondered if I could get your advise on what would be the most advanced laser treatment/ dermabrasion for a facial scar looking irregular (not raised) on my chin, Also, I have a small scar (looking like a small scratch left upper lip) and a tiny lump on my lip as a result of a bike fall. My questions: What is the most recommended type of laser/ dermabrasion treatment to reduce facial scars on the chin?
Avatar n tn Hello, Stitches even if very minutely applied leave a scar which is initially red and with time gets fibrosed and becomes a hypopigmentated scar. Then in that case, plastic surgery or laser treatment can be followed during adulthood to minimize scar appearance. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn I had 2 moles removed on my body in June 2010 in China. Stitches were used and now it has formed into very obvious dark raised scars. I have tried using bio-oil for months and the product does not work at all! Will the scars fade and go back to flat in time? Is there any way I can reduce these?

Avatar m tn 5) I know that the scar will never completely disappear, but are there any other solutions to further minimize the appearance of the scar that we could be exploring? (such as scar laser treatment) 6) When would be best to start new treatment to cover the scar? 7) What are the risks involved with the new treatments? Sorry for so many questions, but my mother is very sad and unhappy with the results and I would really like to be able to help her. Thank you very much in advance.

Avatar n tn Hello, About 3 years ago I had a plastic surgeon do a punch type biopsy on the top of my nose (it was benign). One of the stitches had ripped during the healing process. The result was a dimple type scar on my nose. Ironically -I wanted to avoid scars like this which is wht I had it done by a plastic sugeon. The doctor told me that I would have to wait at least 2 years to determine how it would heal. Well, it has been over 2 years, and it has not healed very well.
Avatar n tn your link just said that the CO2 laser works really well with great cosmetic results. That laser, CO2 laser, is a relatively new laser, and does have a wide range of conditions that it can treat. Though there are numerous other lasers that can be used. Going for surgery may only cause more scar tissue growth and leave a similar marking on the lip. Talk to your doctor about your options and then decide from there.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 15 years old and I was in a small bike accident around 8 years ago and ended up having to get a few (11, I think?) stitches on my chin, which were removed a few weeks later. Everything was fine until this past week, when I started seeing that the scar was getting inflated and began hurting as well. I initially thought it was just a pimple so I didn't worry about it, but now, after some research, I see it's starting to look like a keloid scar.
Avatar f tn Surgery 8/18/2012 - doctor told me he used special stitches inside to secure it. Dr. had me doing no PT for 6 wks. 8 weeks later he then handed me a paper with 3 exercises on it and told me I shouldn't need PT. I had so much pain in my right foot (felt like multiple fractures!) that I couldn't get off the walker until Jan.28,2013. ** I only have 12" of movement in my right leg now. Do I have to have this knee operated on again?
Avatar f tn I cry at the thought of trading one problem for another and a worse quality of life than I already have. Is there any hope in laser surgery to remove scar tissue? Any homopathic remcommendations? Any hope at all? I'm young, tired and have to make a living to survive. I don't want to depend on pain meds for the rest of my life either. Please, is there any help out there?
1116823 tn?1303076444 It was a common wart that you get on your hands and legs.. But this procedure was more of a scar removal procedure - the scar was left over from a previous biopsy. If I wound the skin (make a small incision with a knife or blade) and reattach, then put a bandied on would the reconnect?
Avatar f tn I recently underwent a surgery in the groin area (left inner thie) to remove scar tissue left behind and to avoid further spreading of what has been diagnosed as the early stages of Hydradenitis. The surgery was 10 days ago and the stitches have been fully removed however the wound is still open. My question to you is, going forward, should I continue waxing or should i consider laser hair removal therapy in that area?
Avatar n tn my lower lip was slashed on the inside by my teeth and required stitches. There is a hard lump in my lip now and i can see looking up close, some discoloration on the outside of my lip line. I am worried will only get worse as I age with sagging and creases forming unevenly. Can plastic surgery help and/or laser for the discoloration? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/592342'>recieved stitches on lip (1 month ago)..

Avatar n tn Hi, Moles, or nevi, are frequently removed for a variety of reasons. They can be removed by 2 surgical methods: - Excision (cutting) with stitches: Click here to view step-by-step photos of this type of mole removal. - Excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole): Click here to view step-by-step photos of this type of mole removal.

1747349 tn?1332687280 I got poked in my upper eyelid near my nose with a pen. I needed stitches, now I have a scar. I know it's not that big but is there anything (excepting vitamin E) that can lessen the appearance of it? Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn but i walked up to him and they introduced me too him,,,and he shook my hand and told me that he would take a needle and put stitches all over my face and walked off..but don't stitches scar??? also??i guess he meant stitch up my pores, because they are big,,,and even though he was drinking was that right to say???
4666104 tn?1357749187 So an infection started and then I developed a nasty keloid scar. The scar is now double in size compared to my original birthmark. He decided to do steroid injections and laser treatment on it. The high dosage of steroid injections he gave me caused my skin to skin in drastically. I have a crater on my shoulder and I still have keloid bumps on the scar along with the tenderness and redness. I'm very frustrated.
Avatar m tn However, I was worried if this would work as i dont think it is raised enough, if i rub my finger on my cheek i can barely feel it is there, and i think it might grow back or leave a bad scar. I wondered if anyone had had any similar experiences, to help me decide if i should go ahead with it? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi, Depending on the technique used and the location of the mole, there may or may not be scarring. If there is a scar, it may fade in time. However, it is strongly recommended that you have your mole examined by a doctor who has experience in treating moles, related skin conditions and skin cancer to help determine if the mole is cancerous or not. Then you ask for a referral to a cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist. The type of mole being removed determines what technique is used.
Avatar n tn My doctor said he could make a small incision and punch them out leaving a minimal scar. Do you think I would have a smaller chance of scarring with a laser? Also for a flat my face he used a Gentelase used for hair removal. I have read that this is only used for hair removal and leg veins. Have you heard of it being used for moles before. The mole actually looks a little bigger since it was lasred aweek and a half a go. Would a diolite laser remove these more effectively. Thank you.
Avatar f tn kind of scar (i suspect this is because the mole is small). the scar is now more of my skin colour, but still a noticeable scar (i can't remember but i think it took either 1 or 2 years!). the thing is, i think this might have happened because i went swimming in my pool (chlorine based), had direct sun contact (it was in the summer) and did not leave a bandaid on the wound with polysporin, and i think i picked at my scab too (i only know these things now because i researched it!
