Avatar n tn He has been giving me IPL laser and Pixel laser treatments as well as both red and blue light therapy for inflammation and injecting a very diluted kenelog solution into the scar tissue as this helps it break up and get thinner and softer. He is next probably going to try some Accent treatment on the jawline to help tighten it and rid the jowls that I never had prior to the "lift". I suffered every rare complication in the book from lip paralysis (it came back) to a bad seroma.
203342 tn?1328740807 My daughter wants to get a pretty bad scar fixed to look better since it's keliod and hasn't gotten better with creams or laser treatments. The plastic surgeon wants us to talk to Radiology first to see what they say. The doctor said that she will need radiation treatments after the surgery to keep the scar flat and not become upraised again. One of my concerns is what effect the radiation treatments will cause? Will this affect her fertility at all?
Avatar n tn Whether redoing the scar by surgery or maybe laser revision. good luck.

203342 tn?1328740807 We've tried Vitamin E and scar creams. We are now considering scar revision surgery. We've talked with the plastic surgeon and he says if he does it then she must get radiation treatments immediately following the surgery to keep the scar from becoming upraised again (keloid). Then we talked with the Radiologist and he said that the treatments usually work, and she'd need about 3 of them.
203342 tn?1328740807 I kept asking him if surgery could be an option and he said that it would make a worse scar if we tried surgery. I don't think it could look much worse than they way it looks now. With her being a girl she's very self-conscious about it and won't wear tank tops or a bathing suit without covering up. My heart goes out to her. Is there anything else we could try? Is surgery to remove or fix the scars really out of the question? What other options are there? They are so noticable and ugly.

Avatar n tn They form a depression or sunken area because of damage to the collagen, fat or other tissues below the skin. In such scars, apart from plastic surgery, laser resurfacing is also helpful. They can be safely and effectively resurfaced through the proper use of a high-energy, pulsed or scanned carbon dioxide (CO2) or Erbium-Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet (Er:YAG) laser.

It may take a process w the lasers over a period of time. I am sure it can be improved, will it ever be perfect flawless skin? Probably not but then who has that if your over age 5? Lol the lasers can help significantly.
1067657 tn?1255060009 Hello Doctor, As a result of an injury about 5 years ago, and what I would call a sub-par job stitching up the wound, I have about 1.5" long and somewhat jagged scar on my face. As you can hopefully see from my photo it extends from above the bridge of my nose, along the edge of my eyebrow and just into my forehead. The bottom half of the scar is much more noticeable.
Avatar n tn I have sinced moved away from the area where the original plastic surgeon was, but I have been hesitent to do go to another plastic surgeon. I have tried all of the scar products on the market -but realize that they are largely for keloid type scars. I hate this scar! It casts a shadow and is very noticeable to me. What are my alternatives and can you give me an idea on price?
Avatar m tn You should consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon regarding your scars, but you can definitely get laser scar removal on the penis. I suggest seeing a dermatologist in your area who will likely give you something to apply directly on the scars, and if that doesn't work then a dermatologist can laser the scars away. If a dermatologist doesn't want to do it then a plastic surgeon will.

Avatar m tn It does not work as well on deep scars. In laser surgery for acne scars, a hand-held laser is used to burn off the scarred skin cells. Fresh new skin cells then replace the burned-off ones. Benefits of Laser Surgery for Acne Scars The lasers used for Laser Acne Scar Removal in India are very precise, allowing the dermatologist or plastic surgeon to target only the affected skin and leave any healthy, unscarred skin alone.

Avatar n tn I was burned on July 17 after laser hair removal. It later peeled and I was left with white hypopigmentation marks. It has been three months and I have not seen any changes. Please let me know if this is permanent or if there is any treatment for this.
Avatar n tn Any consideration for scar revision should be decided based on the ultimate mature appearance of the scar. Full scar maturation will take at least one year from now. At that time, if the scar is unacceptable, then a consultation with a plastic surgeon would be appropriate. The exact procedure selected will depend on the condition of the scar at that time. For now, the best treatment would probably be silicone gel sheeting applied directly over the scar.

Avatar n tn It doesn't sound like I would want to go to a basic dermatologist. It sounds more like I would want to see a plastic surgeon or laser specialist? Is that accurate? I'm very concerned about who to go see in particular because I'm scared that if I see the wrong person that the area may look worse after! I would probably like to have one spot treated first to see the results before continuing with the other 2. How does one "first reduce underlying fibrous adhesions in simple terms?
