Avatar f tn Hi, I have a chickenpox scar on my nose since i was 10, I'm 23 now. Been to a skin clinic to do something about the scar, it appears greyish black, done a biopsy test, and the hyperpigmentation is deep within the dermis. I have done 2 times of laser on it and applied hydroquinone for about a month. But it still remains unchanged, are there any other options?
Avatar m tn Four years ago I was diagnosed with genital warts, which were treated with cryotherapy. The warts were gone three years ago, but the treatment left me with a fairly large white scar, or hypopigmentation, on my penis. This shows up more because the pigment of my penis is much darker than the rest of my body. There has been no change in the scar for this time, so I saw my GP who prescribed hydrocortisine cream. I tried this for one month but there was no change.
Avatar m tn Hello, These scars can be due to some past injuries, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or some sort of hyperpigmentation. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin. Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn Hello, The Vbeam produces a laser light that can be absorbed by the red pigment in the skin. The Vbeam laser works in combination with the Cool Touch laser and with a substance called Levulan. While the Vbeam laser removes red from acne scar tissue, the Cool Touch laser tightens the skin from the inside out. But this requires more than two sittings to take effect. So you should follow up with your cosmetologist and get it done in multiple sittings.
Avatar m tn I know their will be scaring and possible pigment left over, but are their any other concerns I should be aware of? Thank you for your time and knowledge.
Avatar f tn the doctor advised to treat with laser. I want to get a second opinion because I heard some side effect about the laser. thanks for your help and I will appreciate very much!
Avatar m tn I got laser treatment where my doctor treated it with a weaker dosage of laser once, and last week I got a stronger dosage of laser on the bruise. It seemed to have the turned the pigment darker. Is this normal or should I stop getting laser treatment?
Avatar n tn ‘Selective photothermolysis’ is a term that describes how pigmentation ‘selectively’ takes up the energy given out from the laser in preference to that of the normal skin. This allows the laser to selectively disrupt the pigment with minimal or no damage to surrounding skin. ref:http://www.sesderma.co.uk/pigmentation.
682777 tn?1226687522 This is unique because it is relatively painless and unlike the laser hair removal process, IPL works equally well on most skin pigmentations without removing any of the pigment. IPL hair removal is reported to safely and effectively eliminate hair of all colors: blond, red, brown, black and even white. There are differences between laser and IPL. In IPL the intense light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat.
3156104 tn?1357281195 Many pigment epethelial detachments (PED) are asymptomatic and do not require treatment. Some hide or harbor choroidal neovascular membranes and need VEGF (avastin or lucentis) injections. Medical thereapy such as you describe is rarely successful.
Avatar n tn Hello, Sunburn results when the amount of exposure to the sun or other ultraviolet light source exceeds the ability of the body's protective pigment, melanin, to protect the skin. Apply cool compresses on the area and take bath with cool(not very cold) water. Do not scrub your skin or shave your skin and use a soft towel and gently pat your skin dry. Also use a sunburn Over-The-Counter remedy containing aloe vera and a light moisturizer or a dusting powder to relieve chafing.
Avatar m tn What kind of scars would these be called? It actually restores pigment the pigment? Is there anything i can do in the mean time, until i see a doctor?
Avatar f tn It doesn’t hurt and its not bumpy but its unsightly to me. All pigment in that area has been lost. The scar is the size of a dime. Does anyone know how I can make this white scar look better (without makeup)?
Avatar n tn Laser may be more expensive and they may require more sessions for effective results. This depends on the extent and depth of the scar. For small scars, then Laser may be helpful. Microdermabrasion may even help. How large is this scar?

Avatar m tn I have been taking Latanaprost and then Monopost for the last five years for mildly elevated eye pressure due to Pigment Dispersion syndrome..I had visual field test and OCT recently all good in normal range . ..I went to an Opthalmologist for a consultation to get the SLT done but he refused to carry out the procedure because of the fear of IOP spike and told it would be risky because of my Pigment Dispersion Syndrome but I believe my PDS is table now as I had it for a few years...
Avatar m tn Hence I sincerely suggest you to consult your dermatologist and discuss the option of the above said laser as laser treatment is required for complete clearance. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
