Avatar m tn I've gonne to a dermatology today to diagnose some white spots on my neck. He told me that's hypochromic nevus. The question is I'm supposed to start laser hair removal on my beard and I've forgotten to ask him if hypochromic nevus can cause some problem in contact with laser. Can any one help me? Thanks since now !

414490 tn?1202554461 since there is hardly any research done one this condition, there's no real way of knowing. in regards to the removal of your LEN, was it surgically removed or through laser treatment? i want to get it removed as it's been bothering me ALOT my whole life. how big was is? mine is about 2 inches wide at the widest bit and stretches to about 6 inches, do you think that that is taking too much skin for it to be surgically removed?
1267622 tn?1270277908 They are harmless but have the potential to run into a tumor or skin cancer. Treatment option varies from steroids to surgical excision or laser removal depending on the size and site of lesions. There is no harm in getting them removed at an early age and the marks after surgery can be treated as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or by plastic surgery.
Avatar n tn He has just recently, in the past 2 months, developed a nevus on the corner of his left eye on the sclera. At first I thought it was a broken blood vessel because it just kind of popped up. It wasn't going away though so I made an eye appointment. We saw our eye doctor and he said it was brown pigment that had developed. He was a little concerned with the fact that it just showed up and that he is white. He said that it is usually more common in darker skin decents.

Avatar f tn My brother was recently diagnosed verrucous nevus on his scalp. He is 24 years old and has the growth on his scalp since he was a young child. In adolescense it grew bigger in size and is sometimes itchy. Now the growth is about 1.5 inches and the shape is roundish and raised ( looks like a wart) . Is the diagnosis correct? The doctor also suggested laser or electrolysis treatment to remove the growth. Is this the most suitable method of removal?
Avatar n tn My daughter is now 6 months old, she was born with a nevus (congenital?) on her nose close to her eye. Its approx 3/4" in length and is raised up. She also has some smaller ones on the end of her nose. We consulted a dermatologist, who said we will watch it closely and doesn't think it is a mole but rather a birthmark more so -as it is Epidermal. He then referred me to a "cosmetic" dermatologist that uses laser removal. That derm doesn't work on children, EVER.
Avatar f tn is it dangerous she removes it by Laser ? what you suggest? is this nevus is cancerous? will it come back after removal again or is it dangerous? i would be grateful to have your answer, dr.....

She also has some smaller ones on the end of her nose. We consulted a dermatologist, who said we will watch it closely and doesn't think it is a mole but rather a birthmark more so as it is Epidermal. he said we may want to have it removed for cosmetic reasons and at this time he doesn't know whether it could potentially be cancerous.

Avatar n tn What do u think about Argon laser? There are several doctors using argon laser to remove the nevus in eyes and lodged in some medical journals. Is it a relative safe way of doing so? Would it make eyes loss its "Bling"? You said it very right....if something works legitimately and is published in the journal, others will test it and duplicate it and that way would have become a standard.....but none of this happen so far...

Avatar n tn It has to be shave or deep elliptical excision, excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole) and laser removal. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Avatar m tn Hello, This large, pink hairy area is Becker’s nevus. The nevus generally first appears as an irregular pigmentation on the torso or upper arm (and gradually enlarges irregularly, becoming thickened and often hairy (hypertrichosis). It is a benign lesion so treatment is generally not necessary except for cosmetic purposes. Shaving or trimming can be effective in removing unwanted hair, while laser hair removal may offer a longer-lasting solution. I hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Topical calcipotriol may reduce the wartiness in some cases but should be used under medical supervision. If necessary, laser or surgical removal of naevi may be performed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn No Yag laser is NOT used for that purpose on the eye. Generally benign "freckles" (nevus) of the conjunctiva are not removed.
Avatar n tn Sarah, Based on your description of the birthmark, it is likely a mole with excess hair growth (technically called a 'giant hairy nevus'). Depending on the size of the mole, it can be treated with surgical removal or laser therapy or both. It is not clear if this can be completely erased without some residual discoloration or scar in the area. See a local plastic surgeon about treatment to give you a realistic opinion about the success of treatment and the costs involved.
Avatar m tn My concern is that treating this birthmark with a laser will possibly cause damage to this highly sensitive part of the body. Another concern of mine is that once treated, it will return.
