Avatar n tn I did laser hair removal about two weeks ago on my lip, toes, and underarm. I love it - I have not shaved my armpits during this time and only have a few thin hairs there. My lip is a little better but they said the lip is hard to treat and can require a few treatments. I used Hair Today Gone Tomorrow and they were pretty affordable. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn I work at the top laser hair removal company in the uk and we don't treat anybody who is pregnant, it's not worth the risk, it can also cause pigmentation because of the hormones x rubbish I know because I was due to get mine but iv just found out in 5 weeks =)
Avatar n tn We are contemplating getting laser hair removal. We heard that getting laser done close to an opening on the body like navel, vagina, etc. there is a possibility of infertility. Is it true ?
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried out laser hair removal? on face or legs? I've heard its not only expensive but it also can leave a darker tone on the area treated...any insight about it???
Avatar f tn My husband had laser hair removal about two weeks ago to his beard. He developed folliculitis. The folliculitis is now cleared up and the hair on his beard is very patchy. The skin under the hair seems to be lighter than the skin that has no hair. Is this b/c the skin without hair is still healing and will blend in eventually or is it going to stay this way. Also, this was the first treatment. Will hair grow back in these spots that have no hair.
Avatar n tn even my hubbie, he has never said anything to me about it but when we are getting it on I have to be very carfeul not to let him touch my face.. So enough is enough I am ready for laser hair removal. Does anyone know how much it might cost to have this done and how often do you have to go in for the "treatment"?
Avatar n tn I have been receiving laser hair removal treatments around my aerolae. About an inch away from my aerola one of my breasts is a flat mole, about a centimeter big, with a lighter shade of brown surrounding a darker brown in the center of the mole. The mole has been there my entire life with no change in character. The laser techs told me they would just work around this mole to prevent burning it. During a treatment on 1/17/11, I was told the laser would be "turned up".
Avatar n tn I was burned on July 17 after laser hair removal. It later peeled and I was left with white hypopigmentation marks. It has been three months and I have not seen any changes. Please let me know if this is permanent or if there is any treatment for this.
Avatar f tn My derm advised me to seek laser hair removal, but now I am worried that laser hair removal will just make matters worse, which I just cannot handle. He said that laser hair removal is superior to electrolysis, but stories like this tell otherwise. I read that IPL damages darker skin tones because it does not do a good job in differentiating melanin in hair follicles and melanin in skin, so it damages the surrounding skin. Did all of you ladies have IPL performed on your skin?
Avatar n tn I think you made a wise choice to have laser removal of your beard hair, since that technique is perhaps the only way to eliminate your shaving problems. Some patients, regardless of skin type, do take quite a number of sessions to achieve clearing. I can't explain the little whiteheads. Your suggestion--the heat of the laser--sounds as reasonable as any. In any case, that is temporary. As to the bump induced by picking, that too is independent of skin coloring.
Avatar n tn Hello, Legs are the best place for laser hair removal. Within 3 treatments you will achieve smooth, ingrown free legs and at least 50 percent of hair reduction will be achieved. The first 3 treatments may have to be 6 to 8 weeks apart usually but best way to estimate your treatment dates is to observe the new hair growth. The subsequent treatment is usually 4 to 6 weeks after the previous treatment. When you start to see new stubble (new hair growth), you can make an appointment within the week.
Avatar f tn Is there anything i can do to get rid of the hair beside laser hair removal? and if it is, is the procedure safe? any side effects? Or is there something i can use to make pores smaller and remove the hair, maybe a cream or ointment? Im just a college student and i want to avoid spending 1000 for laser hair removal, and not it's not just a problem of ugly legs, it's a problem of red, irriated, ugly legs with LOTS OF SHORT HAIR and HUGE pores. I really appreciate any help.

Avatar f tn Unfortunately over the past few years I paid quite a lot of money for laser hair removal (which is supposed to be permanent! ) but since getting pregnant I'm back to shaving every 2nd day :( not happy with my hormones!
Avatar m tn It basically feels like a rubber band snapping on your skin. Laser hair removal requires several treatments to work. Another option is electrolysis. This requires more time per session and the back is a pretty large area to do. This involves sticking a needle into each follicle and electrocuting the follicle to kill it. Electrolysis doesn't require the contrast in color. I would recommend laser hair removal over electrolysis.
Avatar n tn If you have a lot of hair, the most effective way (though it is a little expensive) is laser hair removal. See the dr.first and then work out how to handle the hair. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Rockoff, I am an older primary care physician who has been exclusively practicing primary skin care for five years. I do laser hair removal, photofacial rejuvenation, Acne care, and a number of other primary skin care services. I have a good relationship with the areas Dermatologists and create many referrals for them. At present I am using the Clearlight from Lumenis to treat Acne. My experience with the light suggests it has been oversold and hyped by the company.

Avatar n tn I've used different types of ingrown hair, razor bum removal creams. Nothing seems to work for back there. I'm so scared there's nothing I can do, I've seen men and the back of there heads where this problem persists for years. I do not want that for myself, I don't know what to do, if surgically removing them is the answer or laser hair removal. idk. Someone help please.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are various methods like shaving, bleaching, depilatory creams, electrolysis or laser hair removal are available to remove the hair.Out of all these laser hair removal is the most long lasting.Nd YAG laser is very effective in long term reduction of hair.Risks include the chance of burning the skin or discoloring dark skin with the laser, hypopigmentation (white spots), and flare of acne. Pls consult a dermatologist/cosmetologist and discuss this with him/her. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn The metrogel seems to burn my skin. Does laser work for Rosacea? It is $1,800 for the treatment. I am 54 years old and recently had my thyroid removed due to cancer. Could my Synthroid meds be aggravating this condition. Could these blisters be facial herpes, shingles. I have had this for about 6 months. I can't get into a dermatologist until September. Help!
328799 tn?1276569332 I did electrolosys and laser treatments and am part of the low percentage WHERE IT DOESN'T WORK. Hair on your stomach does not indicate necessarily a hormone problem. More women suffer from this EMBARRASSING problem than you'd think. Shaving sufficed in the beginning but now, i get ingrown hairs and .. .yeah..yuck. Go see your doctor to find out if it is due to a hormone imbalance. There is medication that controls it. The hair will basically stop growing.
Avatar f tn If you really are seeking for a long-term or permanent process, you could always look into laser removal. Just be careful because there is always the chance of something going wrong. My cousin used to shave her arms until the hair on top became super thick and she just wanted to get rid of it. She went in for laser surgery and they burned her skin - now she has a horrible white scar on the top of her arm.
Avatar n tn There is laser hair removal...a girl I work with had her lip done and loves it. I havent heard anyone complain about the laser hair removal. Usually you go in for a couple treatments and either the hair is very light and unnoticable or theres none at all. As for the pimples you should see a dermatologist. I went to one when I was a teenager and they gave me Retin-A and minocyline and it cleared my face up. Cetaphil is also a very good cleanser and I use it everyday.
606433 tn?1220243537 Should I get permanent hair removal surgery? I heard that lasers work good for my problem. I have too much hair, and I need to get it removed.
Avatar n tn A. Facial hair can be a difficult challenge. Many people are using laser hair removal. Others are using medication such as spironolactone or other medications that block the hair receptor.
Avatar m tn Hand held Laser hair removal devices to remove mens hair ? are there any that work and what are the models ? is there a link for each model ? I noticed there are some with red beam and blue beam , whats the difference ???
Avatar n tn You really need to stop tweezing right away, or else inflammation and pigmentation will make you very unhappy next carnival. If you can't afford laser hair removal, you can try waxing (which sometimes causes a bit of ingrown hair problems),or else shaving. Contrary to what people say, shaving does not make hair grow back thicker. Also, it doesn't yank hair out by the roots, so it doesn't leave inflamed spots and resulting pigmentation. Good luck. Dr.
Avatar f tn Discuss the advantages of laser hair removal therapy with your dermatologist. The laser sessions may be done repeatedly depending on severity and extent of the condition.
