Avatar f tn Hello, Soprano XL laser is considered one of the best techniques for laser hair removal of the armpit hair. Soprano XL is useful for everyone; both dark hair and light hair individuals and is painless and can used for large skin area like chest, armpits. I suggest you to discuss this with your doctor and then get it evaluated. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are various methods like shaving, bleaching, depilatory creams, electrolysis or laser hair removal are available to remove the hair.Out of all these laser hair removal is the most long lasting.Nd YAG laser is very effective in long term reduction of hair.Risks include the chance of burning the skin or discoloring dark skin with the laser, hypopigmentation (white spots), and flare of acne. Avatar f tn Hi, I recently received 1st and 2nd degree burns on my legs from laser hair removal. At first they were darkened scabs over the area now the scabs have fallen off and I am left with white track like marks all over my legs. I am very worried about scarring. I have very dark tanned skin but I have made sure to stay out of the sun and keep the areas covered. It has been three weeks now.
Avatar f tn The skin under the hair seems to be lighter than the skin that has no hair. Is this b/c the skin without hair is still healing and will blend in eventually or is it going to stay this way. Also, this was the first treatment. Will hair grow back in these spots that have no hair. After this first laser treatment, my husbands face was full of scabs and was swollen (it looked like he had his wisdom teeth pulled out).
Avatar n tn But the results can be permanent, unlike laser, and it works on light-colored hair and light skin, while most hair-removal lasers do better with dark hair. I would recommend asking for a numbing cream or gel to apply first, under plastic wrap, to numb the areas first. Both are a little uncomfortable to mildly painful. Another idea for above the lip fine hair is to bleach it. I tried laser there, but my hair is too light and it didn't work, so I just bleach it lighter. It's fine for me.
Avatar n tn even my hubbie, he has never said anything to me about it but when we are getting it on I have to be very carfeul not to let him touch my face.. So enough is enough I am ready for laser hair removal. Does anyone know how much it might cost to have this done and how often do you have to go in for the "treatment"?
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, I am a 27 year old caucasian male, and I am very close to scheduling a 4-session laser hair removal appointment to get the hair taken off my back and shoulders. I am a good candidate, as I have light skin and dark, coarse hair. The only thing really concerning me at this point is the potential long-term side effects - in particular, the possibility of the treatment causing skin cancer down the road.
Avatar f tn Okay, this is really embarassing. I'm starting my first session of laser hair removal this weekend. I've never had it done, but as I'm very hairy, it's about time!!! ha ha! Has anyone had it before? And is it really effective? I have dark hair, so suppsedly I'm like the best candidate. The techs have been very adament about saying that they're not allowed to call it permanent, but they say that they're confident I'll love the results. All I really care about are the dark, nasty man hairs.
Avatar n tn I get the same thing, the best thing to do is keep using hair remover cream or if you can afford then get it waxed, then exfoliate the area every other day, NEVER shave it, it makes it look worse, I am looking into getting laser hair removal but it's expensive. Depending on your age (i'm 27) if you are a lot younger than me, then it may be just hormones, and might settle down but just do the hair remover cream thing it may help.
Avatar n tn Dr., When I choose a place to perform my laser surgery for hair removal what should I look for as far as procedure/equipment? Some offices use different types of lasers and some use a carbonite "salve" to be applied beforehand to help "tag" the hairs and then again some do not. How is anyone to know what the differences are and which ones are better?
Avatar n tn Hello, There are 5 types of laser hair removal systems. These include pulsed light, Nd YAG laser, diode laser. Alexanderite laser and ruby laser. This depends on the skin type and varies from patient to patient. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist for the skin type and then depending on that, laser hair removal can be decided.
Avatar f tn however, the skin on the upper lip is far too sensitive for laser hair removal, whatever your skin tone. I have spent a fortune on creams such as Clinique's dark spot corrector with little effect. The issue is that the damage caused by the laser is so deep no topical solution is effective. I fear that the hyperpigmention will worsen over time, which terrifies me as the situation is already distressing enough.
Avatar n tn Hello everyone, i got a hair laser removal i got burnt both legs now it's healed dark brown some are pinkish. is my skin will go normal after the post laser burns? please advice because it's really frustrating.
Avatar n tn I think you made a wise choice to have laser removal of your beard hair, since that technique is perhaps the only way to eliminate your shaving problems. Some patients, regardless of skin type, do take quite a number of sessions to achieve clearing. I can't explain the little whiteheads. Your suggestion--the heat of the laser--sounds as reasonable as any. In any case, that is temporary. As to the bump induced by picking, that too is independent of skin coloring.
Avatar n tn Hello, The changes in the skin and texture of hair are due to regular tweezing done at frequent intervals. You can go in for waxing or laser hair removal of the upper lip hair which will address to the problem of hyperpigmentation also. Otherwise chemical peeling or microdermabrasion from a certified dermatologist/ cosmetologist will help. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn Most places will give you a free consultation and let you 'feel' the laser by giving you a pulse on your hand or face. It works best on those with fair skin and dark hair. It will not take away light or white hair -- so not good for peach fuzz. The hair has not come back and I stopped treatments 3 years ago.
Avatar f tn I get breakouts on my skin very often and i have acne and rosacea. My skin used to be completely clear before i used the hair removal cream. Is there anything i can do to get rid of the marks?
Avatar n tn Hi, Hyperpigmentation Removal treatments are used to eradicate darkened areas of the skin which may result from hormones, sun damage, injuries, skin-type characteristics, medications and more. The treatments vary from melanin blocking agents combined with topical medications such as Retin A which causes the body to exfoliate the skin to rid the body of the hyperpigmentation while prohibiting new melanin production to laser treatments.
Avatar f tn Is there anything i can do to get rid of the hair beside laser hair removal? and if it is, is the procedure safe? any side effects? Or is there something i can use to make pores smaller and remove the hair, maybe a cream or ointment? Im just a college student and i want to avoid spending 1000 for laser hair removal, and not it's not just a problem of ugly legs, it's a problem of red, irriated, ugly legs with LOTS OF SHORT HAIR and HUGE pores. I really appreciate any help.
Avatar f tn The most common side effects of laser hair removal are skin irritation, pigment changes etc. Rarer side effects are blistering, crusting or scarring. It is best to take the decision regarding laser treatment after consulting your dermatologist. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn Laser hair removal does quite often result in permanent destruction of treated hair follicles. If you have light skin and dark hair, it may well be worth a try. Good luck. Dr.
Dinosaur A mild corticosteroid cream like dermacort will also help. Also you can go in for laser hair removal which causes permanent reduction of hair and does not cause folliculitis also. Please consult a good cosmetologist/dermatologist for that. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
15944521 tn?1444147901 I also suffer from folliculitis. I am wondering if DIY laser hair removal is a better option for me, but was unsure with my skin color, and thick dark hair. Please advise if I could be a good candidate for this?

543791 tn?1216385377 I have medium dark skin and very dark brown hair and eyes. I had around 15 treatments and the hair still grows. The doctor kept increasing the number on the laser b/c my hair was so resistant. One treatment left me burned with scaps and I think that's what caused the skin sensitivity to sun. SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY DO NOT TURN UP THE NUMBER TOO HIGH AND BURN YOUR SKIN. BE CAREFUL DIECTLY AFTER TREATMENT AND PROTECT FROM THE SUN.
