Avatar m tn I was suffering from a form of double vision caused by laser surgery to my right eye that was necessary because I am diabetic. I only had vision to the left of the eye.
Avatar n tn 5 135 I met a doctor in LA regarding LASIK, who informed me that while the right eye was no problem, given the high myopia in the left eye, it would make more sense to wait until a Smooth Scan addition to the VISX Star 2 laser, is available in the US. Given the case with my left eye, do you think that waiting for Smooth Scan would be prudent, or are there more sophisticated opportunities in Canada, such as with the Chiron laser? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Avatar n tn I have been extremely frustrated by this persistant inflammation of the eye and the scaly skin. When I wake up every morning, my left eye is inflammed, red and crusty. I'm thankful that the most of the bumps have resolved but my doctors are just as perplexed as I am. I have also been given oral antibiotics and antihistamines. My left eye is always sensitive and the eyelid is now drooping.
Avatar n tn (b) monitoring the eye for immediate whitening; and (c) terminating exposure of the eye to the laser light prior to the onset of retinal damage But how does the whitening work? It cant be an instant whitening so the birthmark area looks white again? Do they have images such as pre and post? I quite like this idea, as I have mentioned before I do have a fear of accepting donor's parts... I read somewhere that if u have brown spots on part of your eye, it can be removed...

Went to the retina doctor today and all is still attached but he sees a large vitreous membrane at the bottom of the eye that is probably causing the shadow. Avatar n tn the laser surgery to fix your retina is totally different than LASIK. different laser, different part of your eye, different goal, different result, etc. every -12.00 patient is at high risk for retinal detachment. you would still be at high risk for retinal detachment if you had LASIK.
Avatar f tn However, I'm still worried that they won't make enough progress to stop my high eye pressure. I have glaucoma in my right eye, my left one not yet. I would like to know how I could prevent my left eye from developing it. I've read that the way I use my eyes (reading too much, computers or television, adrenaline) does not affect my glaucoma, but then what else can I do? When I use my contact lenses I get strong headaches even the day after I use them.

In youth, vitreous is a solid and clear gel filling the center of the eye, firmly attached to the retina. The exquisite transparency of vitreous allows unhindered transmission of light to the retina for photoreception.

Avatar n tn Richard MacKool, director of the MacKool Eye Institute in Astoria, NY, to have her cataracts done. He's a high-volume eye surgeon who averages ~70 surgeries a week. IMO, a very good eye surgeon.
Avatar n tn My daughter, 3 years old, was just diagnosed with retinal lattice degeneration in both eyes. She received laser treatment on some of the holes in the right eye. My son, 8 years old, is just recovering from his retinal detachment surgery done in February. I have 2 other children---ages 2 and 7 months. I live in the New York area and am looking for any leads to a pediatric retinal specialist and/or facility on the east coast.
Avatar n tn You also need to have a conversation with your surgeon about what type of implant would complement your lens in the other eye. If you are considering an explant getting a yag laser to clear the capsule will make an explant very difficult. Also find the most expert surgeon you can, who is experienced doing explants should you go that route, even if it means traveling to another city. Check my posts under londonbridge. Also Dr. Hagan and JodieJ.
Avatar n tn When I asked why I was not having any success, he said the reason was because we needed to accomplish cataract surgery on the right eye as the left eye was taking the load from the right eye. I said that I did not understand this point, since the right eye had good vision and should not be a load on the left eye. I could tell he was a bit up tight and did not want to discuss the situation with me. He recommended that I see a optometrist for new glasses.
284078 tn?1282620298 In my practice, I find out the main priority and shoot for that first and if I can achieve it in the first eye then the second eye has some wiggle room for me to add some near or distance vision as desired. It is more of a DISTANCE plus some near added in or NEAR with a little distance added in.
Avatar n tn I am 66 yrs old and had lasik about 9 years ago. Left eye set to read and right eye for distance. Worked fine until I developed cataracts in both eyes--cortisone, etc. as a result of back problems--I guess. In any case, had Alcon Toric implanted in left eye about 5 montsh ago--again hoping for the ability to use my computer again without glasses. Since I had good results with mono-vision with Lasik, I thougth that I would go for mono with my new lens.
Avatar m tn The first one told me I have a retina tear at the 10 o clock position in my right eye I got hit in. He told me if I don't get the laser treatment there will be a 10% chance my retina will detach. He said after the laser I might see a blind spot in my vision because of the laser. The 2nd doctor told me she was 95% sure it is NOT a retina tear or retina hole, however, she said there was an irregularity at the same 10 o clock position in my right eye. Other than this, my eye is healthy.
Avatar f tn I got a detached retina due to accidental force of water shooting out of garden hose into my eye. Went to retinal specialist, had unsucessful laser surgery. Then he did a combined operation of a buckle and vitrechtomy, and put in silicone and then retina was re-attached.
Avatar n tn Some ophthalmologists in New York City and Florida claim that they can successfully "zap" floaters with laser. You can search Google for those doctors. But, that procedure has not been widely accepted by ophthalmologists. Other than that, a vitrectomy is the only way to get rid of floaters, but I doubt that a retinal specialist would perform it unless floaters severely block a patient's vision because it is a risky procedure. I think you should try to be positive.
Avatar m tn They seem to agree that a blended micromono approach with high asphericity in the near eye and low asphericity in the distance eye gets a very good binocular result where the near eye is good at 30 and 40 cm and intermediate and still usually gets 20/25 or 20/30 far, and the distance eye 20/20 or better all the way down to 60 cm allowing both eyes to work together most of the time. I am going to have one eye done with Chayet in March.
Avatar n tn 0 with -2 astigmatism - resulting in about 20/45-50 VA (using no glasses for reading and computer). The second eye (9/25/07) was not as successful and a month later I have developed a cataract that is forming fast. My doctor has recommended removing natural lens and IOL and replacing with a corrective lens. I have worn glasses since age 3 then contacts and gas perm for 20+ years.
