Avatar n tn ok I found this on Wikipedia Exposure to hand held laser light under such circumstances may seem trivial given the brevity of exposure, the large distances involved and beam spread of up to several metres. However, laser exposure may pose a dangerous distraction such as flash blindness. there was more info there that might be useful, but it said that any amount of exposure can be harmful.
Avatar n tn When I was in hypohell getting ready for RAI my eyes got so blurry i had to wear myreading glasses all the time.and I had laser eye surgery a few years back so I was kinda bummed.but now I am on cytomel and syn throid they are much better now.
Avatar n tn I am 28 and I recently looked into laser eye surgery. I was a good candidate, except that my prescription had changed within the last year. I thought that for most people, the prescriptions stabilize during the early 20's. Is it possible for this to be extended through the late 20's too? Could I expect my vision to stabilize within the next couple of years?
Avatar f tn There is no cure for floaters, no drops or ointments or pills. Laser doesn't help and vitrectomy is almost never indicated. NEXT Awareness of entopic phenomena especially flying corpusle. read the Wikipedia section on entopic phenomena and the discussions here on MedHelp.
Avatar f tn Dear emm35, I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD, undergo a complete examination to determine the cause of your haloes. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar m tn After the accident, I noticed a large floater in one eye. I have visited an eye specialist several times and he just prescribed a few vitamin A pills and eye drops for few months after examining my eye. However, I have noticed another small floater in the same eye now and a small floater in another eye. These floaters are really a nuisance and now I have developed an inferiority complex and a lot of insecurity. When I see my friends with healthy eyes, I feel sad for myself.
Avatar f tn Three weeks post cataract surgery on my left eye I have flickering on the left side of my left die and have peripheral double vision on the left side. I.e. if someone passes me on the left side or even if I look straight ahead and bring my finger towards my face I see a double image. The closer into my face my finger gets the nearer in from the side is the double image. So that when my finger is less than a foot for my face if I take it out to the left even a couple of inches it's double.
2190096 tn?1338195515 Hi, I am checked by eye doctors every 7-8 months. I have weak retina areas in both eyes. But doctors say that no need to do a argon laser to reinforce them. They all told me to come back and seek them every year. I do it every 6 months! I am nearsighted and with astigmat (-3.00 -1,75), right eye is only -3.00 without astigmat. My problem is that I have been seeing very tiny small white sparky dots when I look at white, bright areas like sky since 9-10 years.
Avatar m tn I have what the ophthalmologist says could be a "non-active CSR" in my left eye. Had an OCT a little more than a month ago, he says there is a mild abnormality in my RPE which is a sign there may have been a leak but the fluid is now gone. I found this out during my first cataract consult. Here are my questions: 1) How long does it take after the fluid goes away until my symptoms goes away? Should it be days/months?
Avatar n tn I started taking ARBs 3 years ago and my prescription stabilized in one eye and improved by 0.5 diopters in the other eye. You should be checked for aortic dilatation and investigate ARB drugs with your doctor. Finally, Dr Brian Ward in California has been performing posterior pole buckling surgery for patients with very high myopia with great success. Search for posts by "dukey" on this website.
Avatar m tn This might be better detected with a cycloplegic refraction, or a manifest refraction after your eyes have been dilated. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar n tn Wikipedia reports the following on floater treatment. I don't know what the doctor here would have to say abou this, however. Another treatment is laser vitreolysis. In this procedure a YAG laser is focused onto the floater and in a quick burst vaporizes the structure into a less dense and not as noticeable consistency. Great success of this method has been reported by John R. Karickhoff, M.D.
Avatar f tn multiple retina surgeries) but Russell's posting and the Dr'.s answer make me aware that these changes in my right eye should be looked at. I made an appointment for Friday. I am myopic, have lattice and detached retinas are in the family. I hope my right eye is OK. The postings I read today have really taught me the importance of ongoing education about my eye. I hope Russell is better, too.
233488 tn?1310696703 This is not an exact science and the margin of error is +/- 0.50 but INCREASES with high myopia (long eye) or high hyperopia (short eye), eyes with previous RK, lasik, injury or additional eye diseases. 3. Typically the targeted post op refraction is between 0.00 (not needing glasses for distances of 20 feet (6 meter) or more) and -3.00 which has great vision for tiny detail at reading distance 13-14 inches. Any difference of greater than 1.
Avatar m tn I tried wearing my old glasses for the help with the other eye but that just doesn't work, so I wear a contact lens in the non operated eye. Eventually I'll have that eye done with a Crystalenshd and then not have to deal with the contact lens which I absolutely hate wearing. I'm hopefull that in time I'll experience great vision. This discussion is related to Crystalens HD 4th Generation Lens.
Avatar f tn It has been for a year now and it didnt go away in time. Today it is worse that the first time I noticed it. have been at 3 different eye doctors, no problem with eyes according to them (only last doctor said a little irregular cornea surface). Have done MRI of the brain which came normal. I also have developed floaters, starbursting , very dry eyes(eye doctor said it is not much dry!!!), and a little after images and headaches around my forhead since last year as well.

Avatar m tn Price was $1000 more and said refractive outcome was the same if I did laser assisted or standard phacoemulsification. He said laser is 'possibly' less traumatic on the eye. He didn't pressure one way or the other and said think about it and let us know a few days before what you decide. I decided on the traditional non-laser approach.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure why you mention disliking the idea of a corneal inlay, it might perhaps be because you are talking about having it in only 1 eye. The Kamra inlay is usually used only in 1 eye partly because that works well enough for many people, and because it reduces contrast sensitivity, low light vision. I've seen studies however that have tested implanting the Raindrop inlay in both eyes, which suggests it likely has less of an impact on contrast sensitivity.
Avatar n tn Right eye: Sphere +0.00, Cylinder +1.00, Axis 85 Left eye Sphere +0.75, Cylinder -1.00, Axis 8 The doctor said I had astigmatism and need glasses, so they've prescribed a pair of glasses: Left/Right eye: Cylinder +0.50, Axis 90 I've got the glasses today and am wearing them for a few hours already and that 'effect' that I used to see when reading light color letters on dark background, has almost disappeared altho I feel it shows up sometimes.
Avatar m tn Sounds really weird but I dont have a clue what it could be related too. If I had to discribe the feeling, imagin someone holding a pin to your eye and slowing moving it forward, your reaction would be to look away, thats the best I can discribe it. Hope you can help.
Avatar m tn They don't know much about it, there is no treatment, it is rare (but perhaps many people aren't being diagnosed right), lots of floaters in the affected eye are common. I actually have it in both eyes but didn't notice the blind spot in my left eye, but it is active in my right. Have any of you ever had a mfERG this would diagnose if this is actually a retina or optic nerve problem? Ask your opthalmologist about it. I was misdiagnosed with optic neuritis for 9 months.
Avatar n tn Oh yeah, I have read that too much ACTH in the system can cause dark spots. This is from Wikipedia- Melasma "The condition most commonly causing the darkening of skin is known as Addison's disease. The darkening may be brown or reddish, typically appearing in the creases of the palms, pressure areas of the body and the mouth.
486038 tn?1300066967 Especially since this did come along with that funky eye dilation this past few weeks. Check out the pic. I took in direct light. Weird, huh? Yeah, I can't say that knowing that I posibly had a seizure makes me feel any more comfortable about being undiagnosed, un-tested an in the hands of an "uncaring Dr. DWI!" For those who don't know, I do have a new neuro appt. in about 4 1/2 months. Sigh.
Avatar f tn ) The inventor had the exquisite name of Royal Raymond Rife. There is a wikipedia article on Rife, suitably skeptical and with tales of people convicted for convincing cancer patients they could be cured, and who weren't. Yeah, I'm dubious, but willing to learn and evaluate. Antibiotics have their own issues, after all. Any advice welcome. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I had one laser treatment but it was a freebie and did nothing (SmartXide Dot laser) I've done all this for well over a year and NOTHING has improved. I look like a 40-year-old with an 80-year-old's arms. I live in Canada, so have more opportunity to cover my arms than someone living in Florida and cover them I do. I am embarrassed by them. I feel shocked when I look in the mirror. So ladies, I empathize fully. If I find a solution, I will post for you all.
Avatar m tn It gave me clarity to investigate and realize that my problem at this point is what is called in Wikipedia Steroid Atrophy. Cortical steroids for 5 years for a spider bite has significantly damaged my skin in its deepest layers. It may sound strange but I actually was thrilled to finally have a diagnosis for my never ending problem. It has taken me 5 years to figure it out. It allowed me to figure out what needs to happen next, and why all my efforts were not working.
Avatar n tn i am having the same pain in my neck and it goes to my eye and into my shoulder . vision is blurry in right eye and i have 20/20 vision .
