Common Questions and Answers about Laser eye prices

Avatar m tn I have a dense cataract in one eye and I was told that laser-assisted surgery may be better to help "break" it down instead of traditional. I've seen mixed research between the two; however, are there any shown benefits of laser over traditional cataract surgery? As in is it worth to pay out of pocket for it?
Avatar n tn A line of them in my upper eye, and a thinner layer of them in my lower eye, and then spreading thinly throughout that eye. While at the same time, my other eye is perfectly fine. What does this mean? Fortunately this time I was home, but where will I be when it strikes me next time? Any suggestions or help out there?
Avatar n tn In 2015, the average premium for LRI for astigmatism correction was $584 per eye... In 2015, the average premium for laser arcuate incisions for astigmatism correction was $1,136 per eye." Though this source cites a 2011 figure of $5096 for what I'm guessing is just monofocal surgery (or average of all surgeries, and most are monofocal): http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0187451914000778 Another source claims: http://health.costhelper.com/cataract-surgery.
Avatar n tn Thank you Dr. John for clarification. In my case, I had partial buckle and cyro for right eye and laser retinopexy for left eye. I have read a lot of your comments on other post and found very useful for me. Thank you so much!
Avatar m tn I have talked to people that have had cataract operations throughout New England. The prices are not uniform in price, How do I find a listing of the prices that a surgeon gets in a particular state or surrounding states.
Avatar n tn Says he would use Toric IOL in that eye with 20/25 vision aim for -0.25D. he will set this eye for distance and will do after he does right eye Cataract surgery will be done on Right eye in two weeks with Alcons aspheric IOL SN60WF. He will do this eye with 20/40 vision aiming for -1.25D for near and intermediate vision.
Avatar f tn I had a similar circumstance to you, i.e. glasses all my life and chose Restor. I waited before having my second eye done and wound up explanting the Restor after six months. This procedure should only be done by a highly experienenced surgeon because it carries more risk due to the fact that the Restor cannot be suctioned out like the cataract. However I feel the results were worth it. I could not imagine living the rest of my life with such poor vision.
Avatar n tn as far as i know it could be treated with a cosmetic eye surgery ...can a kind doctor informe me about the prices of the cosmetic eye surgery?
233488 tn?1310696703 This is not an exact science and the margin of error is +/- 0.50 but INCREASES with high myopia (long eye) or high hyperopia (short eye), eyes with previous RK, lasik, injury or additional eye diseases. 3. Typically the targeted post op refraction is between 0.00 (not needing glasses for distances of 20 feet (6 meter) or more) and -3.00 which has great vision for tiny detail at reading distance 13-14 inches. Any difference of greater than 1.
Avatar m tn I was comparing my distant vision between the operated eye and the non-operated eye. Colour in the left eye (not yet operated) had slightly warmer tones than the post-op right eye. I don't know what is reality though - I guess maybe because I have some cataract in my left eye it adds yellowish tint which makes the colour appear warmer. Watching television - everything is now so clear.
Avatar m tn If you developed aniseikonia after ERM surgery, be certain that there is not still ERM in your eye. The presence of ERM is easy to identify in Spectralis OCT images. Retinally-induced aniseikonia is caused by traction from the ERM, which distorts the underlying photoreceptor distribution. Even in cases of successful ERM surgery, the photoreceptor distribution does not always return to normal, particularly when the ERM has been present for more than 10 months.
Avatar m tn There are many sources of contact lenses for reasonable prices. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar f tn Make sure that your doctor answers all these questions specifically, because we can have individual differences in our conditions. Oil removal surgery was easier on my eye. I recover slowly, and I needed 2 1/2 weeks of mostly bed rest. I had to be face down about 5 days. I don't work outside of my home, but the doctor told me a 2 week recovery. Please ask your doctor what your vision prognosis is, when you are ready for this discussion.
Avatar n tn I only have a cataract in one eye, so I began by checking out doctors who specialize in both cataract surgery and laser vision correction (for my noncataract eye). It seems like most docs here only use Alcon lenses, and some don't even use aspherics. Not good for consumers, but I suppose that most of their patients never know what their missing. BTW, who woudn't be a candidate for an aspheric IOL?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I'm 35,with really high myopia ( -17 in left eye and -22 in right eye)astigmatism and cataract in right eye not impairing sight. Use rigid gas permeable contacts and get along "fine". Have had gas bubble in left eye and laser in both for retinal tears/holes. The only procedure I'm considering is IOL when absolutely necessary. I've never heard of anyone with myopia this high. i'm really worried about future prospects.
Avatar m tn I'd be curious if anyone has more comments on getting a multifocal in only one eye with the problem cataract and wearing a contact lens in the other (which is still correctible to 20/20 with only an early cataract). The hope would be that perhaps before it goes bad a new generation of lenses might come out, like an accommodating lens that is more likely to work well than the ones out there now. Any suggestions for good doctors to get them from, preferably laser cataract surgery?
Avatar n tn 1. age 2. which eye is dominant / non-dominant 3. size of pupils in bright light, dim light, pitch dark. 4. What does one do all day (CLOSE READING or NEAR NEAR as it is called: very fine print like Wall Street Journal stock prices, medicine label, needlepoint, jeweler, etc) (COMFORTABLE CLOSE:reading further away than 6 inches from nose out to arms length, normal reading of various size fonts from newspaper to books to articles, etc.
765048 tn?1234589050 All my light sensativity issues are related to medical conditions and side efects of intense laser surgery. If you are light sensative you may be developing mild dry eye ( you would know if severe ). Also eye fatigue seems to make the light issue worse for me. I would discuss this with your eye doc.
740516 tn?1360946086 I dont know if private vets do that sometimes, Loreena is my first pet! I personally got one eye laser session for free last year after my dettachment in the private clinic I had done the surgery .They called that SOCIAL one.
Avatar m tn The reason I hadn't tried is unfortunately my cataract in one eye shifted my correction in that eye greatly preop, from -9D or so to -19D or so, and I needed to switch brands temporarily to get a high enough power and wound up with a GPC bump from the other brand that *still* hasn't gone away so I've avoided putting a contact lens in it. It seems likely the multifocals wouldn't play well together., but then again perhaps the focal points multiply, e.
Avatar n tn Incidently, my eyes have improved hugely over the last 24 hours after the use of some eye drops... I'm thinking it might have been blepharitis as the eye drops I used were supposed to heal it. Thanks again. Alex.
Avatar m tn Before the cataract in August 2011 I had Laser PRK to correct Hyperomy (I had +1.75 in one eye and +2.25 in the other) The surgery didn't succeed and in May 2012 had to be done a second time. Second time was better BUT I got cataract because of the extensive use of Cortisone and Desametazone, so my vision was spoiled. So at the end of June 2013 I did the cataract surgery using PhysIOL Finevision trifocal lenses.
Avatar n tn all of it...you can still see the folicles. I am very white..dark headed, so I have heard that the laser hair removal works well on this type of person. hum...wonder how much a all over body hair removal would cost? :) My husband doesn't seem to be bothered with it don't know why. I've talked to my doctor and he said this was common...there is medication I could take but it only controls the hair growth...it does nothing for what is already there...
Avatar n tn It explains the need for dental care as well as anesthesia risks. Please be aware that this first one mentions prices from 1997, which are about 1/2 of what they may be today, given advancing technology and increased costs of drugs. http://www.toothvet.ca/PDFfiles/mythology.pdf http://www.toothvet.ca/PDFfiles/Dental_Truths.pdf I would not hesitate to do the dental with anesthesia.
Avatar n tn I had one laser treatment but it was a freebie and did nothing (SmartXide Dot laser) I've done all this for well over a year and NOTHING has improved. I look like a 40-year-old with an 80-year-old's arms. I live in Canada, so have more opportunity to cover my arms than someone living in Florida and cover them I do. I am embarrassed by them. I feel shocked when I look in the mirror. So ladies, I empathize fully. If I find a solution, I will post for you all.
Avatar n tn If these are caught at the right moment they can be treated with cream or by laser treatment, and is very easy and non painfull. Not long ago a new vaccination came out to prevent the 3 fungal infections that cause cancer. So I recomend for you all to go and visit your doctor and have this inyection. However, this inyection does not prevent the rest of the fungal infections which are treated in the same way. So please, don't worry.
Avatar n tn Oh, my gosh. I don't know if I could tolerate 150 injections at one time. Ouch. I guess it would be better to get it all over with at once, though. www.lipodissolve.com is where I go. And yes, I walking around with a sore abdomen most of the time. They recommend 2-3 weeks between treatments to let the "lumps" dissolve. I am glad to know that it works. Maybe one of these days the US prices will come down.
Avatar f tn I feel like I'm doped up on Benadryl all day-sooooo tired!!! Hope this will pass!! Also getting some pressure behind my right eye. Almost feels like a bad muscle twitch, yet no twitch, just feels like it wants to lead up to a twitch. Does that make sense? I dont know myself b/c this med is making me not make any sense at all in a lot of stuff I say. Which really sucks because I talk to customers all day long in person and on the phone and they are beginning to look at me strangely.
Avatar f tn This has resulted in a 100% improvement in the pain and feverish feeling emanating from THAT tooth, but I still have an strange irritating sensation emanating from the implant that extends to the cheek, nostril, and eye above the implant. I have a feeling the implant is the cause of the mouth trouble and wondering if it is the cause of my neurological symptoms as well. My physical activity has been reduced to a minimum compared to the level of physical activity previous to the surgery.
