Avatar n tn Retina dettachments in both eye (2 and 3 times each), surgery, laser surgery, cataract removed in one eye. I've had dry eye for a few years, mild to moderate, always responded to eye drops. Last December the dry eye really escalated and starting causing horrible pain. The pain has just intensified since then. In Feb I didn't think pain could get worse...it did. In May, didn't think it could get worse...it did. In August I knew I was maxed out on pain. Wrong...it's worse.
Avatar n tn does anyone know of a surgeon that is fully ccredited that has performed any removal/laser therapy in Michigan? Please help and thank you so so much!
Avatar n tn I have glaucoma, have had Lazar and Cataract surgery on both eyes. Have passed Michigan Secretary of State drivers eye test. Scored 132 hits in 3 minutes on a Weston Light Board. However, i have taken at least 8 Goldman field vision tests. During the Goldman test i cannot see the target light and the whole interior area is a hazy tan, dark gray fog or pitch black. At one session i tried to tough out the full time required, developed shaking convulsions.
Avatar f tn I am being treated at University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for your kindness and help! I know you take your precious time to answer my question and help me. I'm 42 year old female. My left eye is -6.5 with contact lens I can see 20/20. My right eye before surgery was -7.5 with contact lens and I can saw 20/20 . Whenever doctors measured my eye should wear -7.5 left eye, -8.5 right eye contact lens and I tried them, I felt very dizzy and can't handle them. So I stay on -6.5 Left, -7.5 right contact lens for more than 15 years.
Avatar n tn We have taken him to see his primary care physician, an opthalmologist in Florida and Michigan, an neurological opthalmologist at the Kresge Eye Institute, and an optometrist, who specializes in custom lens intended to cut down on the visual noise he sees, but all to no avail. On line, there are several sites for "snow vision" that indicate many people suffer from this problem. Are you aware of any treatments for this condition.
Avatar f tn Crystalens is my first choice for a presbyopia correcting IOL. I have one in my left eye. Find an experienced Crystalens doctor in your area. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn ALL the doctors have said I have lost the vision for good and I have to get rid of the left eye so the right eye can be saved. I have consulted about five major eye hospitals in India, seven university hospitals in USA, two in UK, three in Germany and two in Australia. Every one said I have no hope.
Avatar f tn I had a CRVO in 1998 at the age of 53. I had blurry vision, went in and they said it was going to get worse before it got better. I had been checked regularly by an opthamologist and had no idea how this could happen. My lipid profile was high. I lost the fine vision in that eye. My vision is like seeing through fog or a steamy mirror. I did have to have some laser work done bcause I developed little bleeding vessels.
Avatar n tn Are the lens of isokonic glasses the same grinding procedure as in a slab-off? If not, what is the difference? I have tried the slab-off and they didn't work out......My "second cataract" clouding is progressing......it's become difficult to read the newspaper.....Should I have the yag laser preformed before ordering isokonic glasses (with post surgery prescription?) I assume after yag, I'll return to the same prescription....what are your thoughts?
Avatar m tn Researched and found a real and top MD (former chief of surgery of opthm, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, considered a superdoc by his peers), a week (didn't realize the distortion I was seeing was a detachment, thought it was from the lasering) later I'm getting a vitrectomy, gas bubble and 4,000+ shots of lasering to hold it down. Left eye had laser cerclage as preventive. No buckles yet. My gas bubble lasted almost 3 months. From Oct 14th thru Jan 4th.
Avatar n tn He was treated two in his right eye with Laser twice and left eye was treated once with Laser. But due to inefficieicny of my doctor, he could not detect that my sons retina is detached and we waited for almot 2 week before he told us. We move to Duke hospital in Durham where Dr Toth performed surgery in both eye for Retina detachment (Right eye complete detachment and Left for Partial detachment). His left eye was attached within a week where as righ eye developed a membrane.
Avatar n tn There's a lot of good information already posted. Suggest you avoid surgery unless you have best corrected vision worse than 20/40 or so. There are definitely no guarantees and usually we don't get to know how patients are going to do until 6-9 months post-op (at which time they usually need cataract surgery also due to the fact that the vitrectomy speeds up the cataract development.
20869248 tn?1555089844 Looks like Michigan: Consider U of Michigan school of medicine Dept of ophthalmology, Wayne state U Dept of Ophthalmology or Henry Ford Hospital Dept of Ophthalmology
Avatar n tn I'd eliminate anyone who didn't also specialize in refractive surgery (i.e., laser vision correction). Ask how many multifocals they have implanted. What are their recommendations for you? Other eye care professionals (optometrists and ophthalmologists) in the community are often savvy about who's good and who isn't. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn The first 3 surgeries were performed in Indiana, the 4th in Michigan. The Indiana surgeon is doing follow-up. Follow Ups: Re: Multiple Detachments HFHS MD-JL 7/01/1999 (2) Multiple Detachments Ron R.
Avatar n tn Hud, my surgeon is an 8 hour drive and I had planned to do the follow-up with my local eye doctor. Not so sure that is a good idea now. She hasn't had any patients with the restor implants and I probably should see someone who has worked with these. I don't think any of the TLC affiliates in the St. Louis area are working with this procedure yet. I went to Jackson Michigan for a "same day surgery" for the right eye and did the left eye the following day.
577285 tn?1568603815 Strait over my head and lazily drifting to the SSE was the brightest light I have ever seen in space other than the moon. I had seen it before but never like this !! It had amazing detail to the naked eye and there were light bursts like laser shots flying from it as it continued to traverse the sky in a graceful space ballet. I YAAAA HOOOO'ed, YEEEE HAAAA'ed and HOWWWWL'ed with delight.
Avatar f tn After much stress in the decision process, I'm going to ask my surgeon to go ahead and exchange the Crystalens in my left (dominant) eye for the ReStor, which was at his suggestion. I have put it off because I have such good intermediate vision in that eye, but that's really all it has going for it. I continue to feel fuzzy-eyed when I am in any space larger than my office cubicle. Any larger area just makes me uncomfortable because of the cloudiness/blurriness in my left eye.
Avatar m tn I have to go back at the beginning of February for a refraction eye test to see how short sighted I am at that time, presumably to assess for laser treatment. I did read it takes about 3 months for the eye to heal following surgery, so will just have to be patient and hope things improve.
Avatar f tn The symptoms finally faded after approximately 6 weeks. (Around that same time I had a kidney stone stuck in my ureter and needed laser ureteroscopy, but I doubt the two conditios are related). Suddenly, two weeks ago, the "sunburned skin" sensation returned (not the other aforementioned symptoms). This time it is concentrated on the back of my neck and lower scalp (at the hairline), as well as on the tops of my legs. The skin is not tender/sore to the touch.

Avatar n tn Hello Queen. The operation on my right eye will be next week. The cloudiness in that eye is progressing rapidly and I will be happy to see clearly. I have no idea how much astigmatism I have. Having never had complaints regarding my eyes before now, it seems everything I hear is in a foreign language and I am apparently not asking all of the right questions.

Posted by HFHS MD-JL on July 01, 1999 at 11:52:30 This is a very difficult situation. I agree that at some point you need to say that is enough. This is an issue you should discuss with your ophthalmologist. I always recommend a second opinion if it would make you feel more comfortable. There are not many options after having so many detachments.

Avatar n tn As a result, I feel that perhaps an alternate solution would be to go to either a monocular lens and wear glasses for reading or perhaps the Rezoom lens system. My doctor does not want to explore these alternatives with the excuse that further eye damage would result or infections could take place. Is there any cornea laser shaping techniques available to minimixe the problem? I really need to get further consultation and need to see another doctor.
Avatar n tn 55 I have done a bit of research on Lasik and am now confused as to what would be the my best option when choosing what kind of laser would work best for me. My prescription is as follows, SPHERICAL CYLINDER AXIS PRISM BASE O.D. PLO -2.50 28 3/4 BD O.S. -.25 -2.75 154 3/4 BU My understanding of this prescription is that the problem is basically all regular astigmatism.

Avatar n tn Had a PVD and multiple retina tears just shy of 7 months ago. After 3 rounds of laser over a 6 week period I was passed over to a retina surgeon at the local university teaching hospital who placed an encircling scleral buckle and did lots of cryo.
