Laser eye color surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Laser eye color surgery

Avatar m tn Now, clearly there is no cure for hereditary color blindness - BUT at the same time I haven’t given up hope that laser eye surgery may indirectly alleviate my deficiency. For example, would laser surgery potentially alter the cornea to such an extend that more light will be spread onto the retina at angels previously not achieved? Again, your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks a million!
177275 tn?1511758844 There are some very dangerous to moderately complication prone cosmetic procedures that are advertised on the internet. Articles are have been published in major Ophthalmology journals world-wide reporting complications anywhere from failing to make the eye whiter, to surgery necessary to remove "bling" to loss of the eye. This is not cosmetic eye surgery to give the eyelids a more youthful appearance (blepharoplasty) or a rounder shape.

Avatar n tn I had scleral buckle surgery (and tear was frozen, instead of laser, no gas bubble) about 5 months ago, according to my surgeon and other eye doctor, everything is fine and healing as normal. Recently I noticed on the inside corner of the eye that had the surgery, the sclera is turning grey, some days seems darker than others, does anyone know why this might be? also your opinion on... Do you think I will ever get my vision back where the tear occured?
274009 tn?1224438067 This year the silicone broke down and attached itself to the inside lining of my eye which casued murky vision and was changing my brown eyes to a color like coffee with cream. (I refered to it as my creepy eye) I had a vitrectomy with laser membrane peel and air/gas/fluid exchange. 10 days later (Aug 31) I have surgery again because my retina detached and the Dr. put the silicone back in. He said the fluid exchange didn't hold my retina. My vision is still dark at the top of of my eye. The Dr.
Avatar n tn A month ago I had a secondary cataract removed from my right eye with a laser. My eyes were tested yesterday at a different doctors office and I was very surprised to see that the letters on the chart looked jagged! Meaning that the appearance of the letters instead of appearing smooth seemed as if they had been ripped out of something This doctor said that their was nothing that he could do but to come back in six weeks. He would not say that this was caused by the laser. I am stunned.
Avatar n tn That's interesting and I will check it out, but I would not have any 'cosmetic' surgery that messes with eyes (cornea, iris), UNLESS, it had been performed for at least 20yrs and even then, only if thousands of people had had the procedure. It's not only about immediate results, it's about how a procedure 'ages' - what are the consequences/side effects 5, 7, 10, 20 yrs down the road? Let other consumers be the guinea pigs.
Avatar m tn About 5 weeks ago I started to notice that I was seeing glares, halos and starbursts. I know this is a common side effect of laser surgery done to the eyes but I haven't had any done myself! The most common example of the glare would be if a monitor was displaying a bright color near the bottom of the screen (e.g. white), it leaks out of the bottom. During the day when it's sunny, the sun reflects off cars and gives annoying starbursts into my eye.
Avatar n tn I'm getting the buckle, bubble and fluid change in my right eye in two days. Have had four laser treatments on three holes, which apparently have not worked: the liquid continues to move behind my retina. I've read that post-op complications of the buckle include double vision and/or lazy eye. I had a 'lazy' right eye as a small child, which was corrected surgically at age 2 or so. Is it going to come back or get worse as a result of the buckle? I'm scared.
Avatar m tn At present, radiation therapy and laser eye surgery are two possible options for eye freckles treatment. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn I have had them for sometime now and recently have gotten a few more. Is there anyway to have these removed by laser surgery or other method; if so, who would perform this type of procedure? I realize that this would be cosmetic surgery and I would only like to get rid of those that are visual. Some that are under my eyelid do not bother me, just the ones that are noticeable.
Avatar n tn Do you think it would it be a good idea to get a second opinion on the results of my right eye surgery? (The great results immediately after the surgery do seem to indicate that the surgeon did a good job. For the left eye surgery, he did comment that now he knows how my eye "heals" - so could the right eye problem be something to do with being keloid, which I am? However, I am concerned that he says the results are excellent and dismisses the problems as likely related to my ERM.
Avatar n tn surgery caspular bag broke result of repositioning 20/50 myopia pressure was, high laser surgery corrected vison 20/30 pressure still high doctor did not known why .prescribed travatan for two weeks . side affect color change of eye ,brown , can this occur in two weeks also is there reason for the elevated pressure in the eye.
Avatar n tn It's also good you do not need the YAG procedure, and hopefully the medication adjustments will reduce the remaining inflammation. Once your eye inflammation is gone and the cataract surgery is fully healed, you can gauge how much of a problem the epiretinal membrane symptoms are for you. Glasses may be able to help with the disparity in the size of images between your two eyes. Ultimately you can decide whether you can adjust to the vision you have after healing and good glasses.
Avatar f tn I would seek the care of an eyeMD and undergo a complete eye examination to answer your questions as well as examine the health of your other eye. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar f tn I am 27 years old and female. I had a procedure called photocoagulation (laser eye surgery) done at the beginning of June for holes in my retina in my left eye. About 2 weeks later I began having pain around my left eye. A week later I also noticed that my left pupil was bigger than the right. I made an appointment to see the opthalmologist who performed the procedure. He said I had physiological anisocoria and said that the laser surgery had nothing to do with it.
Avatar f tn The result of the eye injury is a permanently dilated eye. He has been living with this over all these years and, in summary, the ophthalmologist, after examination, told him that there is nothing that can be done medically at the time and would have to live with it for the rest of his life. He accepted the analysis; what else could he do. His background is engineering and since then, he has been doing all the research he could do in this area.
Avatar f tn My doctor said it is due to the difference of diopter (plano vs -8) even with wearing soft contact lens on my left eye and I have to have another cataract surgery on this left eye to correct the problem. I was not ready to have cataract surgery on my left eye at all because the cataract is minimal, and am having many troubling days and nights since. I went for a second opinion at much bigger university eye center, and heard same answer that I need my left eye IOL done, too.
Avatar f tn 5) is medical glue used on all surgery procedures....for PPV and gas bubble/scleral buckle surgery at least? 6) Im slowly starting to see shapes, colors, sizes of medium/large objects now after almost 8 weeks after PPV. My doctor said that i had a lot of blood in the eye w/c is why it took a while and that every patient's recovery time varies. I do see baby steps of changes as I see dried blood coming off in my field of vision.
Avatar n tn Have you had eyelid surgery? Any type of eye surgery? Does this sharp pain wake you up from sleep? Or does it hurt most in the morning when you open your eyes?
Avatar n tn I do have an eye appointment scheduled in a couple of weeks, probably need to have the Yag laser - is it worth mentioning this to the doctor? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I sure will keep you posted when I have my other eye done. The reason I had the first cataract surgery was because my left eye became so bad that all I could see out of it was white, in the middle of my eye. I had a "dead centered" cataract. I was told about it more than ten eyes ago, but I had no problem until last Oct when it got very bad, very fast. I have a cataract in my right eye also.
10887713 tn?1456094856 I also developed a cataract, which was expected. Cataract surgery May, 2015. Yag laser Aug 2015. Have been prescribed various eye drops over these many months. Currently on Acuvail 2 x per day. STILL have CME. May end up having surgery for this....Vision slowly worsening...wavy, less intense colours, etc. But my question concerns the fact that my right eye is sore most of the time. Usually just annoying but sometimes quite uncomfortable. Anyone else have this? Anything that can help this?
Avatar n tn She was seeing clearly immediately following both surgeries, and a few days after she stopped using the Pred for the second eye she started experiencing blurred vision, haziness, lose of color, and extreme soreness in both eyes. She can no longer see using the no-line bifoculs she got after surgeries. The opthamologist put her back on the Pred and after a week there was some improvement, but some days are better than others. The doctor said it may take months for the inflammation to go away.
Avatar f tn 1 CM and demonstrates significant blood flow on color Doppler and has not significantly change in size. There is a large, solid nodule at mid aspect of left thyroid lobe which demonstrates heterogeneous echogenicity and measures 5.4 * 2 * 3.6 CM. This nodule has inscreased in size from 4.7 * 1.4 * 4.1 CM four months ago. Results of the FNA shows both nodules are benign cellular adenomatoid nodules. Not sure what it really means by cellular adenomatoid nodules.
Avatar n tn The right eye had to have a hole in the retina corrected with laser before the surgery, and the left eye had to have laser treatment a couple years after the surgery to remove a film as a result of the surgery. The current problem I am now experiencing is rather hard to explain, and it has only happened a couple of times. In the outside corner of my right eye I sometimes see a moving colorful liquid, looking sort of like a drop of oil in water.
233488 tn?1310696703 It is important for him to follow up regularly with his ophthalmologist for a dilated retina and peripheral retina exam. He should see the Eye MD immediately with sudden increase of floaters, flashes or loss of peripheral vision. You need to ask he surgeon specifically about activity. As a generalization return to golf and tennis would be allowed by most surgeons after 7-10 days.
Avatar m tn Vision comes and goes, seems to take me longer to focus then my good eye. I see better with surgery eye in morning, seems to get worse in evening. Eye drops and liquigel seem to help so I use them religiously, Sunglasses help to. 4. See a red dot near the center of my vision, it comes and goes and has been around since my bubble dissipated enough for me to see it. Sometimes light around it does a strobe like flickering that is short lived thank god.
Avatar m tn I had surgery just over a month ago for macular hole and cataract. Some laser treatment was required and oil was used not gas. I stopped using the eye drops (Maxitrol and Mydrilate) five days ago but the pupil is still permanently dilated. My understanding was that the pupil should return to normal a few hours after stopping the drops. Will the eye return to normal?
Avatar f tn I have Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy dx in mid-1980's. In mid 1990's had bilateral cateract extractions with lens implants. Was noted as successful. I had corneal transplants bilaterally (08 & 09) with a very successful outcome. I had laser surgery bilaterally in late September '10 to "sharpen my vision" due to scar tissue. Three weeks prior to laser procedure, surgeon did eval prior to surgery date - no issues reported.
