Hi everyone. I have been suffering from GERD for years. I recently got a teaching job, and from day one of talking I've felt extreme throat pain. My ENT confirmed I have Reflux Laryngitis, and ramped up my meds. I was taking Nexium, and keeping weight under control. Now she added Zantac and some allergy meds for my post nasal drip. Has anyone had a job that they talk all day, and due to the GERD had severe throat pain and/or Laryngitis? How long did it last?

I went to 3 different ENT specialists to have my throat checked out but they said it is due to chronic reflux laryngitis. So I am taking Zantac 150 but I am worried. I also did ultrasound on the lumps but they said it was a normal lymph node & I shouldn't worry about it. Could they be right that it is due to acid reflux?

Well, now I had a GERD attack at night that caused a lot of chest gas, and burping, and I have some laryngitis. Left it untreated for months, because I had palpitations and thought my heart was causing chest gas. I misled myself. Took Zantac 150mg twice a day for a week, and am now on Pranpazole? ( spelling?) for 8 weeks via prescription. Voice gradually healing but it's slow.

Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.

However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.

I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?

Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.

Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.

Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta.You can also take zantac(ranitidine). These will help.Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms persist then pls consult a physician.Although rare in your case but other causes of globus hystericus have to be ruled out. Acid reflux, specifically laryngeal-pharyngeal reflux, can cause the symptoms you describe. You might want to try some OTC reflux meds like prilosec or zantac. Feel better.

As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.

However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. My son developed laryngitis about 2 months ago. It is severe so that he can not talk at all. His ENT diagnosed it as Muscular dysphonia. Now with the constant productive phlegm in my throat, hoarseness, breathing problems, post nasal drip, bad taste in my mouth, fullness feeling in my ears, difficulty swallowing and food getting stuck in my throat....I have been diagnosed with LPR. I have started taking Zantac 150mg that i'm supposed to take for 30 days. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this and how long does it take for these symptoms subside?

Hello, There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.

Will this be Herpes Laryngittis/ pharyngitis? will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips? Is this some kind of bacterial infection or viral infection? Any suggestions highly appreciated. I took an appointment for next week with my ENT.I see the transmission rate of 4% with unprotected sex from female to male with HSV1 genitally.

It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. restasis rx for dry eye 1/11 thurs 1/30 i started alot of post nasal symptoms by sat i had laryngitis severe by sunday went to er, they said stop restasis. viral syndrom dx. is laryngitis a side effect? i am very sensitive to all rx drugs and antibiotics , i have intolerences so did these eye drops cause this , also on synthyroid for goitors need help, i stopped the drops but i have this post tickle coughing jags no fever no rash ..

Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
