Laryngitis virus or bacteria

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis virus or bacteria

laryngitis

Avatar f tn It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral. But drinking lot of fluids, sucking lozenges, gargle with salt water, breathing moist air to soothe sore throat, refraining from taking decongestants (because they dry your throat), resting your larynx will help you.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I also have had 99.2 F fever, today. should I see a doctor to know what it is or will it just go away in time?
Avatar f tn Are the worse symptoms due to noro or rota virus? I am a 65-year-old female. I have low IgG3 and lectin pathway of complement and chronic sinusitis, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism etc.
Avatar m tn However I believe I have contracted some sort of bacteria or virus. Symptoms include. Cold for weeks, sweats, headaches, nausea, anxiousness, itchy skin as if u feel like something is crawling on the inside of ur skin all over. I also have diarreah, swollen throat which causes vomiting and stomach pains occasionally.
Avatar f tn I get laryngitis after bouts of sinus infections or colds. I think it comes about from the infectious post nasal drip that constantly runs down my throat. It gets pretty terrible. The last time I had it was for 2 weeks or so. You really need to rest, drink plenty of fluids. If it's from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well.
Avatar f tn I have had a chest, sinus cold going on four weeks now with intermittent laryngitis. I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. Should I be working about my immune system at this point?
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to ent the other day he used a camera to check my throat hes sent me for ultrasound scan and a CT scan due to a suspicious lump he says he thinks its an abcess or ulcer but couldnt see how big it was, now curious if it is an abcess or ulcer how on earth can it be removed as I have a few of them and antibiotics have never cleared them ?
Avatar f tn The only problem is that I keep coming down with either strep throat, pharyngitis, laryngitis or the h flu every other month. I just recently came down with strep throat again and I'm wondering if there is anything that I can to to prevent getting sick. It as if I get it as soon as someone with as much as a cold walks by! Help! I'm tired of being sick and I know that being on antibiotics this much is not good!
Avatar f tn My father has been on antibiotics for rather a long period of times (90 different types of antibiotics in about 2 months in succession for a flu that led both to sinus infections and laryngitis that didn't easily go away. He's now off antibiotics and feels generally OK except for bloating, heartburn and fresh bright blood in his stool :( Can that be serious considering the huge number of antibiotics he has taken?
Avatar f tn e.g. laryngitis, or esophagitis. The bacteria in there does not get into your blood, if it did you would have noticed, trust me. For clarity, ORAL gonorrhea does NOT cause things like PID, epididymitis, and prostatitis.
Avatar f tn It wouldn't actually occur to me to consult my neurologist with what you describe. I'd likely just assume it was pharyngitis or laryngitis or something related to a standard immune response to a bacteria or virus. Yes, I've experienced it many times, mostly in childhood. I think most of us have. And it always went away. Of course, with MS, swallowing difficulties are of concern, but with the accompanying soreness, it doesn't sound like its related to a neurological issue.

Avatar m tn So does this mean that if a person has gonorrhea of the throat that causes a sore throat or laryngitis, and the symptoms have gone away, is the STD gone? Is it possible to pass it on to others?
Avatar n tn With regards to the meat it is more than likely a bacteria could have got into your body rather than a virus. With regards to viruses, there is of course the possibility of autoimmune response. A virus certainly doesn't want to kill its host, it needs a host to copy itself using their DNA. In some cases, the virus seems to trigger the body to attack certain types of its own tissue, such as smooth muscle. This can be detected by using blood samples.
Avatar m tn Do you have any idea is there in Hawaii some mosquito borne diseases? Some virus, bacteria or parasites spread by mosquitoes or insects?
