laryngitis

Avatar f tn A hoarseness persisting beyond two weeks needs an evaluation by an ENT specialist. It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn m usually prescribed antibiotics for a suspected sinus infection, and take it faithfully but I worry that it dries out my throat even more, exacerbating the croup like symptoms. I also wonder if the anitbiotic is useless if perhaps the origin of my upper respiratory infection is viral. It seems abnormal to have such severe problems with laryngitis.

Avatar f tn A holistic doctor from France I met at a conference told me that he had treated successfully thousands of patients suffering from ANY upper respiratory tract infections, from pneumonia to bronchitis, from flu to laryngitis, using the following remedy: One ounce of Magnesium Chloride flakes (Pharmaceutical grade) per one liter of spring water, sipped very slowly throughout the entire day. Repeat for 3-4 days.

Avatar f tn The condition often occurs after a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract. Mumps virus, influenza virus, and other respiratory viruses have been found to cause subacute thyroiditis. The most prominent feature of subacute thyroiditis is gradual or sudden onset of pain in the region of the thyroid gland. Painful enlargement of the thyroid gland may persist for weeks or months. The condition is sometimes associated with fever. Hoarseness or difficulty swallowing may also develop.
Avatar f tn After completing the prescription, I still had a sinus infection and ended up in the ER with an upper respiratory tract infection and gastritis. I now have an equilibrium problem to go along with the upper respiratory infection and the gastritis. I don't know what to do st this point. Too afraid to take anything. Can someone give me some advice.
Avatar f tn The information you have provided suggests that the primary problem is respiratory (in your lungs or upper respiratory tract) and the first step should be for your doctor determine what is going on in your lungs or sinuses as it is likely that the other symptoms you describe especially “headache all the time” and fatigue are likely to be secondary to the respiratory problem.
Avatar m tn I am taking bactrim for a UTI. I also have a sore throat. No scratchiness or raw feeling. It just hurts to swallow. (Like when a piece of potato chip gets stuck going down.) Doctor yesterday took a swab but said bactrim doesn't work for upper respiratory infections. However, she didn't give me an other antibiotic. I don't have fever. But she said the bactrim may be preventing me from having fever. When I looked on line, it said that bactrim is prescribed for upper respiratory.
685931 tn?1226966388 thanks, all those causes u mentioned were cleared out. i've undergone tests to eliminate the cause of the itchy throat and there'is nothing to suggest any upper respiratory disease. also with allergy, i have been using mask outside and inside the house just to prevent pollen/airborne allergy but still my throat itch. it does not hurt though but it sure is very very irritating. the itch is somewhere justabove the adams apple, i really like to scratch it if i could but its impossible.
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? Hemoptysis or coughing up blood from the respiratory tract may be caused by a number of conditions, diseases, and medical tests. This is not the same as bleeding from the mouth, throat, or gastrointestinal tract. Aside from tuberculosis, other conditions leading to this include blood clot in the lung, Bronchiectasis, Bronchitis, vasculitis, pneumonia, laryngitis, and even from irritation of the throat from violent coughing.
Avatar n tn Sudden onset or temporary clear discharge from the eyes can be caused by injury (although this is unlikely if the discharge is from both eyes), allergic reaction or an upper respiratory tract infection - just like when humans get watery eyes when suffering from a cold. If your cat has a respiratory infection he is likely to also develop a wet nose.
Avatar f tn Streptoccocal infection is the most common bacterial infection and can cause nasal symptoms too. Indoor exposure to black mold can cause upper respiratory tract symptoms such as sore throat and cough with or without wheeze in otherwise healthy people. Ideally you should consult a chest specialist. A comprehensive investigation including CBC, throat swab, allergic tests, X-rays, examination with a scope in throat, spirometry etc is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Possible side effects include hypertension, arthralgia, muscle spasm, dizziness, and even upper respiratory tract infection. It is best that you talk to her doctor for proper management. Factors such as her symptoms, medical history, overall health and results of other tests are important considerations. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My doctor believes it was due to a upper respiratory tract infection 1 month before. Follow-up blood tests are soon due to check for a return to normal TSH. Can anyone explain how low TSH causes a goitre in the absence of other blood abnormalities? Am I at risk of further goitres every time I get sick?
Avatar f tn //www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/voice/pages/vocalabuse.aspx A few days, could even be some thing as simple as temporary strained vocal cords. I really wouldn't be assuming there could be anything more to it at this stage, because it's honestly just more likely something common than something like MS.
Avatar n tn Infections usually start out as upper respiratory infections, such as from a cold and then travel down into your lungs (lower respiratory infection). Other times it's from getting the flu and a secondary infection sets in, such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis. Other times you could get acute bronchitis from being exposed to a lot of irritants in the air (such as wood dust, heavy pollution etc).
Avatar m tn On a broader scale, cough in children can be due to air borne allergies like allergic rhinitis, sinus problems (for example sinus infection),post nasal drip, esophageal reflux of stomach contents, asthma, lower respiratory tract infections and inflammations like bronchitis and bronchiolitis and upper respiratory tract infections. What sort of surgery are the doctors planning to do?It can be a surgery for sinus drainage which can result in dry irritating cough.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, it is a problem in few patients who suffer from upper respiratory tract infection. Such cases should be carefully evaluated and systematic intervention to prevent further recurrences. Firstly you should know that few cannot tolerate particular antibiotics, in such cases alternative antibiotics can help. Antibiotics are quiet important in cases of bacterial infection which will reduce the duration of illness.
Avatar f tn upper respiratory tract infection, headache, injection site reaction, skin rash, antibody development, sinusitis, and pain at injection site. Other side effects include: urinary tract infection, abdominal pain, and flu-like symptoms. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/humira-side-effects.html I'd tell your doctor you are experiencing this.
Avatar f tn Treatment will be in the form of management of infection involving the lower respiratory tract. Existing allergic rhinitis and asthma should be ruled out and aggressive management is required in such cases. A six month course of daily prophylactic antibiotics should be considered for continued infections.
Avatar n tn Initially, the symptoms you have mentioned correlates with an upper respiratory tract infection, followed by development of lymph nodes in the chin. 2. Your ear ache is because of Acute Otits media, this usually follows an upper respiratory tract infection/ nasal allergies/sinusitis.
