As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.

There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
My father has MD which seems to be getting progressively worse but is trying all suggested remedies. He is currently undergoing acupuncture treatment but in the days following seems to be particularly woozy. He is unsure if the acupuncture is exacerbating his condition or if he may be in the 'burn out' stage of the disease and the acupuncture is actually turning what may have been a full blown drop down event into a manageable case of vertigo.
I started acupuncture three months before starting treatment three weeks ago, and I credit the acupuncture for my relatively mild SX so far. She has also helped with the fatigue and the nausea. I would suggest everybody try it. What do you have to lose?

Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed.
She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
I did acupuncture when I was 40+4 I didn't want the doctors to induce labor. I was told that after acupuncture everyone of her clients had a baby with in two days. That night early labor, next day contractions that were intense. Next day I had a baby girl. Just thought I'de share in case anyone is up for sugestions.

Hello- After many, many acupuncture treatments, last week I had a treatment for knee arthritis in which I felt excruciating pain with a needle insertion below my knee and my foot kicked up simultaneously. Four days later, I have increasing burning and electricity pains radiating down the front of my shin along the tops of my feet. It also feels as though someone were slicing into my ankle or a very, very bad ankle sprain.
I had acupuncture today...where I have most of my symptoms in my legs and feet....I had an electric shock sensation on my right leg...dr. Said good sign...it really helped with nerve and anxiety symptoms. I also love to run... But the burning and twitching elevates it...causing more anxiety. I just wish this twitching burning would go away. Anyone else experience this?
It sounds as if they have given you the Prozac as a prophalactic prior to treatment so it is quite likely that you wouldn't feel any benefit. I would be loathe to up the dose until after you have started treatment. It is common for the interferon to cause serotonin depletion and by starting the Prozac before the interferon whill hopefully offset any negative effects you might feel. I was on Prozac before I started and had to increase it after about 5 weeks of treatment.

I know this is an older post, but I personally used Chiropractic care for various pain, including that which is associated with Fibro. My chiropractor uses other means such as E-stim in areas of pain, and acupuncture along with E-stim for it. I have been able to cut down on the amount of meds I take, knowing that I have him to help, however it's not covered by my insurance...
