Laryngitis thyroid

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis thyroid

laryngitis

Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar f tn More plausible causes of hoarseness of voice need to be checked like acute laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, allergies, gastro esophageal reflux, smoking, thyroid problems, trauma to larynx, parkinson’s disease and trauma to larynx. Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference. Hope this information helps you. Take care.
1090601 tn?1257512779 Nope, my thyroid was fine. My voice wasn't low it was as if I had laryngitis.
Avatar n tn If the pain is internal then it can be due to laryngitis or inflammation of the voice box. Gargling with warm water and antibiotics help. If it is on the outside then it can be due to inflammation of thyroid or a boil or a swollen lymph node. Please consult a doctor as diagnosis is not possible on net. Take care!
Avatar m tn The past 6 mths I have experienced vertigo, tinnitus, numbness in lips, hands, feet, occasional laryngitis, EXTREME fatique, muscle weakness, chest pain and heart palpatations. After months of various dr.s a nodule was inadverently discovered on my thyroid. FNA #1 non-diagnostic, FNA #2 non-diagnostic. In the month between them the size has grown from 2.9 cm to 4.6 cm diameter. All my thyroid blood work shows normal levels (I was never told what the numbers where). Dr.
Avatar n tn Are you taking any type of thyroid medication or have you have any thyroid blood work done, such as Free T4, Free T3, TSH, or thyroid antibody tests? If you've had any of those tests done, feel free to post results with reference ranges and that will help us determine your actual thyroid status.
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I have been suffering from GERD for years. I recently got a teaching job, and from day one of talking I've felt extreme throat pain. My ENT confirmed I have Reflux Laryngitis, and ramped up my meds. I was taking Nexium, and keeping weight under control. Now she added Zantac and some allergy meds for my post nasal drip. Has anyone had a job that they talk all day, and due to the GERD had severe throat pain and/or Laryngitis? How long did it last?
114809 tn?1449684996 s thoughts the only way to tell if nodules are present is to request an ultra sound scan on the thyroid. This may be helpful for you EVEN if it is an enlargement. I believe with thyroid disease an ultra sound once a year is helpful anyway.
Avatar n tn Hi there! I'm so sorry you're having problems with your neck. I'm really surprised that your doctor didn't check your TSH levels considering the fact that cysts were found on your thyroid. I have Hashimoto's disease and it took 2 years to finally get diagnosed a year ago.
Avatar n tn Your immune system is definately comprised if you had TT due to thyroid cancer. I did not have any flu last year after my TT, but my GP recommended a flu shot this year, so I went ahead and had it. Like Liz said, lots of hand washing is good for everyone.
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar m tn The surgery went well and I feel good. However, now I am losing my voice? It is very raspy and horse almost like laryngitis. I have has a bad cough since I got out of the hospital (Actually both of my kids have stayed home all week because of thier cough). Here is my question: I never had any speach problems after the surgery, but I have had a bad cold....Is losing my voice just a coincedence, or should I be worried about nerve damage?
Avatar n tn I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? If so, which STD would be most likely?
Avatar n tn I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
Avatar n tn My son developed laryngitis about 2 months ago. It is severe so that he can not talk at all. His ENT diagnosed it as Muscular dysphonia. He is seeing a speech therapist, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. He plays Sax in the band at school and can't get enough air out to play. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn t getting sick as often until about 3 weeks ago I started to get a cold that turned into what I thought was laryngitis pretty much right away. Now I have been without a voice for almost 3 weeks. It hurts to try and talk and my throat feels really swollen. It also feels like my neck is bruised on the left side. It is really sensitive to touch. I finally went to the doctor and they thought for sure that it was thyroiditis so ran all the tests for that.
Avatar n tn and also seems to cause a chronic on and off throat congestion and laryngitis....I do a lot of constant, year round throat clearing. But back to the issue, my Parotid glands seem to just want stay irritated and lumpy. Its been well over a decade, and eight years since my SVR...and they still are not normal. How many of you out there have had similar, or related issues? Any thoughts...or solutions??? Thanks for the comments!
Avatar f tn Ever since she put me on levo I have been sick. I was never sick before. I went to her because I had laryngitis for 4 months. Which I finally went to an ENT dr since my family dr would just give me nasal spray and not test or anything for that. I finally went to an endo, he took me off the levo about a month ago. I feel like my old self again. I went on a 1300 calorie a day diet and quit smoking all within 2 1/2 weeks. I ended up in the hospital with a pulse rate of 43.
778528 tn?1253813350 I asked the doctor about getting a thyroid blood test, and he said that since my thyroid count was normal 2 years ago, you wouldn't see a big change in the numbers. He did say that if the pain isn't better in 6 days, that he would order an ultrasound to see if there are any nodules that the thyroid blood test wouldn't pick up. What would you recommend that I do? Does this sound like something I should get checked out immediately for? I don't want to have a thyroid conditon.
Avatar m tn Hello, There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours. Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
556467 tn?1225377691 Last year I was constantly getting upper respiratory infections, laryngitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. There was a period of 6 months that I was constantly on antibiotics and steroids. My ENT did allergy testing (normal), CT scan of nasal cavity (normal) and several scopes to look at my vocal cords which were inflamed. Finally he told me that he felt that I needed to have my Lingual Tonsils removed.
Avatar m tn Will this be Herpes Laryngittis/ pharyngitis? will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips? Is this some kind of bacterial infection or viral infection? Any suggestions highly appreciated. I took an appointment for next week with my ENT.I see the transmission rate of 4% with unprotected sex from female to male with HSV1 genitally.
Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
139126 tn?1255036991 Why did they remove the Thyroid? I had hoarseness, nodules, and other symptoms, had half the thyroid removed, then found cancer. Had a TT, then waited for RAI. During the extreme "hypo-hell" (seven weeks) when I did not get replacement hormone, my voice got worse and worse. Then after RAI, when I had been on synthroid for a few days, my voice started coming back. I am a singer, so that was important.
