After one month I went to an ENT and he said it was acute laryngitis. My voice has almost returned to normal but there is a connstant tightness in my throat. If I cough the tightness goes away for a short time. It's very obvious when I try to talk. I get choked by the tightness and cough. Sometimes even after I cough I have trouble talking because of the tightness in my throat.
Hi, transient loss of voice and hoarse voice are the typical symptoms of laryngitis. It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral.
I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed.
She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.

There is increasing evidence that GERD causes laryngeal signs and symptoms. Symptoms of reflux laryngitis include hoarseness, throat clearing, dysphagia, increased phlegm, and globus (feeling of lump in one’s throat) sensation.
Despite suspected epidemiologic reports, there is still controversy about the prevalence of GERD-related laryngeal signs and symptoms. Studies have shown that 24-hour pH monitoring may not be the perfect test for diagnosing atypical GERD.
More plausible causes of hoarseness of voice need to be checked like acute laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, allergies, gastro esophageal reflux, smoking, thyroid problems, trauma to larynx, parkinson’s disease and trauma to larynx. Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference.

I have no symptoms, but I did have acute laryngitis two months ago. Ever since then I had no symptoms, but I still feel skeptical when I see those veins on the back of my throat, so should I be worried?
Thank you,I didn't know that hoarse was a neurology? I'm happy that its not something else, or is it not everything I get are ms. I don't know and the dr don't always know . I hate mri's and that all they want to do, I'M JUST TIRED. of everything, I let you know what the new dr has to say?
My son (aged 2) has 3 enlarged nodes in his neck, one over 2inch long and pretruding, and one in his groin. He has seen the pedritician and they have said that 2 in his neck and 1 in his groin are all within the normal limits (although the one is larger than a grape?) the one that is longer than two inches she said was larger than normal but felt ok to her. They did a blood count (normal) and test for glandular fever and told me to not worry.
As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.

I went through my first test (HIV Rapid antibody test) after 10 days of possible exposure. The result came negative. I am working in Kazakhstan which is extremely cold during this period. I was suffering from persistent cough from the beginning of winter, which increased later on. I did not experience any fever but had sore throat which starts within 1 week of the possible exposure.
I went for another HIV rapid antibody test which was just 36 days after possible exposure.
I have had a series of symptoms going on 3 weeks, from a nasal drip, to mucus, laryngitis, to now a deep chest couph. Am on amoxicillin but it doesn't seem to be helping. My chest has this "gurgling". Any help. Getting tired of being sick.
