Avatar n tn When using inhaled corticosteroids, some of the drug may deposit in your mouth and throat and cause laryngitis. This can cause coughing, hoarseness, dry mouth and sore throat. Gargling and rinsing the mouth after each puff on your corticosteroid inhaler, may help to prevent mouth and throat irritation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn At the end of the month and into September, I developed a weird illness. The first day it was a sore throat and coughing and hacking up green phlegm in small amounts, sometimes it had blood in it when it came from the top of my throat. I had a slight fever of 99.7. It may have been a little higher, but never over 100. My nick was also very stiff the first day. One the second day, my throat was still sore and coughing up green phlegm, but the stiffness and temperature were gone.
Avatar f tn I wasn’t coughing or had any symptoms of being sick but my body felt as if I had the cold. I still had the popping in the throat and it felt as if someone was choking me. There was a lot of tension in my neck that also traveled down to the upper area of my chest and down my shoulders into my arms. I also started feeling pressure in my sinuses which I think made my neck feel worse. I felt sick for little over a week and towards the end I began to have dry coughs and clearing of the throat.
Avatar f tn Now I have post nasal drip and my laryngitis is still there although getting better. I have done everything for the laryngitis, steam, cool mist humidifier, room temperature water (about twelve 8oz glasses a day), resting my voice. It is getting better very slowly. Now I have a post nasal drip and I am coughing up greenish/yellowish sputum but it's from the back of my throat not my lungs anymore. I am going to try a nasal rinse today.
Avatar f tn I wake up with it, usually a coughing fit lasts from anywhere from 1-10 mins. After the coughing is over, i have to constantly clear my throat, until all the choaking sensation is gone. Its almost like swallowing into the wrong side of your throat. This is my first year in Phoenix, have tried, cough medicines, Mucinex,Zyrtec, Claritin, 3-4 courses of antibiotics, on my 3rd course of Prilosec and now taking Anti fungal antibiotic with it. Any guess, of what it is??
Avatar n tn Hi, the symptoms may be suggestive of cough dominant asthma and hence a test with bronchodilators for 2-3 weeks will be useful to relieve the symptoms. If the symptoms don’t improve stop the medications. Other possibilities needed to rule out are foreign body and anatomical airway abnormality in the bronchus which can be source of reinfection and cough. Another important possibility can be acid reflux disease. Neck radiography and bronchoscopy will help.
Avatar n tn With LPR there can be no symptoms at all, but it can cause sore throats, sinus infections, asthma like symptoms, laryngitis... My husband wakes up choking on fluid ocassionally and I have once. I hope that helps.
Avatar m tn t know what started it, what changed to start it., or why it happens. I am tired of coughing all the time and am sure the people around me are tired of hearing it. I went to a doctor who tested me or allergies and said I am allergic to nothing. She did a chest xray which came back clear as well. I have constant sinus drainage and my cough usually gets me gasping for breath when I laugh...odd I know. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Avatar f tn I orginally went to the Dr for dry cough and laryngitis. Was told I had bronchitis and was given antibiotics (bactrim). A week and a half later, I felt somewhat better. Suddenly two days later, I didnt go to the dr this time, I had sinus drainage hard core. My ears were popping every few seconds, head would pound with movement, and overall just a raw feeling in my throat. I got over that in about 5 days on my own...yay. But then got an allergic reaction of hives and swollen hands and fingers.
Avatar f tn There is increasing evidence that GERD causes laryngeal signs and symptoms. Symptoms of reflux laryngitis include hoarseness, throat clearing, dysphagia, increased phlegm, and globus (feeling of lump in one’s throat) sensation. Despite suspected epidemiologic reports, there is still controversy about the prevalence of GERD-related laryngeal signs and symptoms. Studies have shown that 24-hour pH monitoring may not be the perfect test for diagnosing atypical GERD.
Avatar f tn Can those of you who also have a hiatus hernia, tell me if you have symptoms with a hiatus hernia and what are they? I do have symptoms at the moment but I have a few health issues going on at the same time and I just want to know if some (or all) of my symptoms relate to my hiatus hernia?
Avatar n tn I got laryngitis and the flu a few weeks ago. The top of my dresser looked like a pharmacy with inhalers, nasal spray, antiobiotics, etc... Well now I am off everything. My ENT says everything looks good and I should start talking. But nothing but a whisper is coming. I am still coughing occasionally, but nothing like it was. My mouth is real dry and my lips are cracked. I have been putting vasoline on my lips and drinking lots of fluid...mostly water.

Avatar f tn ve been sick since October with chest discomfort, coughing, throat clearing, fatigue( I used to sleep for about 20 hours a day), fever's,some wheezing type sounds, shortness of breathe, rapid pounding heart rate at random times, and laryngitis all of which are still ongoing with the exception of my voice. Avatar f tn How common is vocal hoarseness in MS? Does it go away? My voice has become very hoarse/low in the past few days, which is something I've only experienced once before (after surgery, because that tube was down my throat). Also, I'm having a hard time swallowing liquids, particularly water. No matter how hard I try to swallow correctly, some water feels like it's going down the wrong tube and I start coughing/choking on it.
Avatar f tn At a few nights I have had low grade fever at about two o'clock. I have had coughing simultaneously or after discovering the fever. Is the nocturnal cough (possibly due to laryngitis) the cause of the fever? Mucus is collecting behind my vocal cords. It causes coughing at night. In the evening I use asthma medication, but I do not have asthma. Could cortisone inhalation (Alvesco) in the evening cause nocturnal fever several hours later?
Avatar f tn Every time I am getting over a cold I end up with a persistent tickle way down in the back of my throat that coughing does nothing for. When I feel the tickle starting I try everything I can to stop it such as clearing my throat, coughing, drinking lots of water and so on but nothing stops it. It seems that only after having a very embarrassing coughing fit where I sometimes strain to breathe followed by a bout of sneezes is the the only thing to stop the tickle.

Avatar f tn Hi, transient loss of voice and hoarse voice are the typical symptoms of laryngitis. It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral.
