laryngitis

Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??
Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn When using inhaled corticosteroids, some of the drug may deposit in your mouth and throat and cause laryngitis. This can cause coughing, hoarseness, dry mouth and sore throat. Gargling and rinsing the mouth after each puff on your corticosteroid inhaler, may help to prevent mouth and throat irritation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Flexeril or cyclobenzaprine or baclofen are not associated with hoarseness of voice. More plausible causes of hoarseness of voice need to be checked like acute laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, allergies, gastro esophageal reflux, smoking, thyroid problems, trauma to larynx, parkinson’s disease and trauma to larynx. Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference.
Avatar f tn Laryngitis. Laryngitis is one of the most common causes of hoarseness. It can be due to temporary swelling of the vocal folds from a cold, an upper respiratory infection, or allergies. Avatar m tn Hello, There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours. Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
1090601 tn?1257512779 Did anyone else experience hoarseness prior to pituitary surgery? I was hoarse for 4 months prior to the surgery and told it wasn't likely going to be the reason. I had 2 surgeries in 4 days. The first left my voice worse but after the 2nd my family noticed in the recovery room it was normal.
Avatar f tn I have had laryngitis and hoarseness, which is getting worse now. In my 6th wk of treatment and wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Have had in the past, never this bad. Any thoughts would be appreiciated. Other then normal allergies, and some fatigue, no other changes. Could my liver have an effect on my vocal cords, throat,, etc.?
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago, I was having hard time talking and there is hoarseness on my voice. I can talk but I can feel the pain in the lower part of my neck. I can’t feel any lump on my neck, but I am having hard time swallowing. After a week, the back of my ear starts to ache and now I can feel the pain inside my ear, even though the pain is tolerable I’m afraid that this is more than sore throat. Every time I try to speak the lower part of my neck is getting heavier.
Avatar n tn Hello, In some patients, acid can reflux into the throat causing inflammation of the back of the throat which can lead to pharyngitis, or into the vocal cords, which can lead to laryngitis and hoarseness. Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found.
Avatar m tn The surgery went well and I feel good. However, now I am losing my voice? It is very raspy and horse almost like laryngitis. I have has a bad cough since I got out of the hospital (Actually both of my kids have stayed home all week because of thier cough). Here is my question: I never had any speach problems after the surgery, but I have had a bad cold....Is losing my voice just a coincedence, or should I be worried about nerve damage?
Avatar f tn There is increasing evidence that GERD causes laryngeal signs and symptoms. Symptoms of reflux laryngitis include hoarseness, throat clearing, dysphagia, increased phlegm, and globus (feeling of lump in one’s throat) sensation. Despite suspected epidemiologic reports, there is still controversy about the prevalence of GERD-related laryngeal signs and symptoms. Studies have shown that 24-hour pH monitoring may not be the perfect test for diagnosing atypical GERD.

139126 tn?1255036991 3 weeks post op for thyroidectomy. Had virtually no voice issues until about 4 days ago when I started to get a little hoarse. It almost feels as if I'm starting to get laryngitis. I am talking more than I was post op but I'm wondering if this is normal and if it's happened to any others? Hot tea seems to help but my voice is definately weaker than it was right after the surgery.
Avatar m tn This past Tuesday, I had a mishap with a very hot piece of food that went straight to my throat for a few seconds, and I drank some cold water real fast. What's strange is that there was hardly any pain then nor until now, four days later (Saturday), however, my voice has been affected (hoarseness). My voice has not come back to normal since, and now I'm starting to get concerned.
Avatar f tn I have had a chest, sinus cold going on four weeks now with intermittent laryngitis. I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. Should I be working about my immune system at this point?

728897 tn?1231388093 Anyway, recently about 2 months ago, my voice went hoarse. Just woke up one morning and thought I had laryngitis or something, maybe a cold. But it never went away and I don't have any cold or flu like symptoms. I've been going out of my mind lately, doing research of what it could be. I know there's a possibilitiy it's related to hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn I'm so sick! What's some remedies for a horrible sore throat? Or what can I take? Please help it's horrible! Lol TIA!
1127040 tn?1289718662 Most people with aortic aneurysms, especially ones in the chest area (thoracic aortic aneurysms ), do not have symptoms. Symptoms may occur if and when the aneurysm gets bigger and puts pressure on surrounding organs. Shortness of breath can relate to a heart condition if the heart is not pumping enough oxygenated blood into circulation as well as many other causes. Aneurysm can cause hoarsness.
Avatar f tn m 28 weeks and juat getting over a viral infection, sinus infection, laryngitis and pink eye, I was givin amoxicillin and was able to take tylonol, unfortunately that all...
Avatar m tn Late that night I got horribly sick and was vomiting more or less all night. I had a fever, the whole nine yards. I assumed it was laryngitis. Went to my ENT after the symptoms had gone away - except for my hoarse voice - that remained. He scoped me and said everything looked good. Cords moved properly and looked normal, but were a little swollen and there was a decent amount of mucus. Kept on Mucinex, started Prilosec, and he said I'd be good. Fast forward to now.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else experience hoarseness? I have been recently I notice when I get tired. I'm not sure if it's related to the MS or not. It's not really a big deal as far as symptoms go just kind of annoying and I was curious if it could be a nerve thing or not.
