laryngitis

Avatar m tn will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips? Is this some kind of bacterial infection or viral infection? Any suggestions highly appreciated. I took an appointment for next week with my ENT.I see the transmission rate of 4% with unprotected sex from female to male with HSV1 genitally.
Avatar f tn Hello~I know you really can't afford to see a doctor, but in this case, I feel it is very important to do so. Your symptoms are very concerning and they do need attention.
Avatar f tn Background: 6 days ago (Friday) I got wasted and went with a girl home from a bar. We had protected vaginal sex, but I gave her unprotected oral sex. On Monday I have flu like symptoms (killer sore throat, aches, headache, etc.). I go to the doc and she tells me I have pharyngitis or laryngitis (I don't remember), so she prescribes me amoxicillin and some days rest. 2-3 days later no progress and these two very small blisters appear on my bottom lip and I am faaaaareaking out.
Avatar f tn The only problem is that I keep coming down with either strep throat, pharyngitis, laryngitis or the h flu every other month. I just recently came down with strep throat again and I'm wondering if there is anything that I can to to prevent getting sick. It as if I get it as soon as someone with as much as a cold walks by! Help! I'm tired of being sick and I know that being on antibiotics this much is not good!
Avatar n tn Hello, In some patients, acid can reflux into the throat causing inflammation of the back of the throat which can lead to pharyngitis, or into the vocal cords, which can lead to laryngitis and hoarseness. Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found.
Avatar n tn How long has this been going on? Have you been running fever? This could be a number of things such as laryngitis, pharyngitis, sinus drainage, tonsilitis or strep throat. If the problem persists or becomes worse, you should consult your physician.
685931 tn?1226966388 I have gone to several doctors form allergy experts to pulmonologists, they had me under several tests for lung capacity, xrays but they have not ound anything wrong about my lungs, I dont feel pain, just the irritation of coughing and the irritated looks on the people around me. I have no colds, no laryngitis nor pharyngitis or any other inflammatory throat inrection. Im taking antihistamine right now but it seems as it is not helping me at all.
Avatar n tn The other possibility is that you have tonsillitis, pharyngitis or even laryngitis. Is there an accompanying cold or change of voice. It is difficult to comment without examining. It could be simply a larger size epiglottis. It could be lingual thyroid that is causing symptoms now. A cervical spine disease, esophageal contractions or anxiety can all cause similar symptoms. There are many other causes too. Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Is it just a sinus infection? Laryngitis? Pharyngitis? Epiglottitis? Hyoid bone syndrome?
Avatar f tn I get laryngitis after bouts of sinus infections or colds. I think it comes about from the infectious post nasal drip that constantly runs down my throat. It gets pretty terrible. The last time I had it was for 2 weeks or so. You really need to rest, drink plenty of fluids. If it's from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well.
Avatar n tn Can excessive psychogenic lachrymation cause pharyngitis/laryngitis or respiratory problems? If so, can it also(possibly/eventually) cause any major (as in medication/hospitalization requiring) problems such as internal hematoma/hemorrhaging, infections, MI etc. ? (hypathetical) i.e. pt crying for approx. 8 hrs before falling asleep. Pt coughing bloody sputum after waking, complaining of chest pain (r/o MI). Minor note: dry cough throughout sleep of approx.
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to ent the other day he used a camera to check my throat hes sent me for ultrasound scan and a CT scan due to a suspicious lump he says he thinks its an abcess or ulcer but couldnt see how big it was, now curious if it is an abcess or ulcer how on earth can it be removed as I have a few of them and antibiotics have never cleared them ?
Avatar n tn Pharyngitis (pronounced /ˌfærɪnˈdʒaɪtɪs/) is an inflammation of the throat or pharynx.[1] In most cases it is painful and the initial infection can extend for a lengthy time period. It is the most common cause of a sore throat.[2] Like many types of inflammation, pharyngitis can be acute – characterized by a rapid onset and typically a relatively short course – or chronic. Pharyngitis can result in very large tonsils which cause trouble swallowing and breathing.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar n tn Yes, Maybe it does take time to heal, but in the meantime, do some gargling with warm water, with some drops of lemon and honey..this is an antiseptic and inflammation remedy...if not, do go to the Dr..maybe you have some small inflammation and bacteria left in there...and you need some antibiotics with inflammation meds....in the meantime, do the gargling, and eat some ice-cream, which helps with the inflammation..another old gradmas favorite remedy..
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar f tn Wanted to know if this has anything to do with the pharyngitis?? Or could the infection have spreader to my esophagus and stomach ?
Avatar n tn I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
