laryngitis

Avatar f tn Hi, transient loss of voice and hoarse voice are the typical symptoms of laryngitis. It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral.
Avatar f tn m just wondering why the Azithromycin worked to clear up my lung infection but not the laryngitis? What can I do to help my voice come back?
Avatar n tn the docter said ive poped a blood vessel in my throat, now ive lost my voice, why is this?
Avatar m tn I lost my voice about two weeks ago from yelling far too much at a party. Since then, I've been able to speak, but I get pain in the left side of my throat and my ear when I talk for more than a minute. In general, I feel discomfort/a small lump in my throat when I swallow which is really what hurts. My voice sounds totally normal, though.
Avatar f tn Flexeril or cyclobenzaprine or baclofen are not associated with hoarseness of voice. More plausible causes of hoarseness of voice need to be checked like acute laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, allergies, gastro esophageal reflux, smoking, thyroid problems, trauma to larynx, parkinson’s disease and trauma to larynx. Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference.
Avatar m tn After we stopped hanging out maybe a week later i asked her how she felt and she told me she had lost her voice like i did, thats how i found out about laryngitis
Avatar f tn At the beginning of this month I believe I strained or damaged my voice from long hours of singing. My throat felt fatigued and I had tension in my neck. Hoarse voice etc etc. I also ended up with a popping/thumping feeling in my throat that happened every time I swallowed except when I was eating or drinking. The best way I can describe the feeling is try and imagine the sensation and pressure of cracking the knuckle of your middle finger and imagining that exact feeling in your throat.
Avatar f tn In October I completely lost my voice. After one month I went to an ENT and he said it was acute laryngitis. My voice has almost returned to normal but there is a connstant tightness in my throat. If I cough the tightness goes away for a short time. It's very obvious when I try to talk. I get choked by the tightness and cough. Sometimes even after I cough I have trouble talking because of the tightness in my throat.
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar m tn Hello, There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours. Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Laryngitis is inflammation of voice box or vocal cords. If you have lost your voice then you probably have laryngitis but the question is what caused laryngitis in the first place. I would suggest you have the Mucinex w/ DM as suggested by your doctor. It shouldnt cost a lot and will make you feel much better if you can suppress the coughing.
Avatar f tn Hi guys, On my way to Neuro this morn. With new symptoms. Ive lost my voice and its hard to swallow food. Ive looked this up and the outcome looks grim. Has anyone had this problem and gotten over it?
Avatar n tn Started with a horrible cough, then a head cold. Due to the coughing, I have lost my voice (at this point I can only whisper). I started feeling better and my voice started coming back, just to get sick all over again. Voice, once again, GONE. After about a month, I went to see my PCP which told me I had bronchitis and laryngitis. She put me on Amoxicilian, Claritin, tessalon pearl (for the cough) and albuterol inhaler.
Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??

Avatar m tn About 7 days ago I started developing a cough which progressed rather quickly overnight into a very severe dry cough with a burning throat. Lost my voice by the third day. Saw my doctor and the consensus was that it was a viral laryngitis type of sickness. Though at the time (3rd day) did not have any visible issues in throat. Then developed into a more congested mucousal cough. Headaches and fatigue throughout the majority of sickness.
Avatar m tn The surgery went well and I feel good. However, now I am losing my voice? It is very raspy and horse almost like laryngitis. I have has a bad cough since I got out of the hospital (Actually both of my kids have stayed home all week because of thier cough). Here is my question: I never had any speach problems after the surgery, but I have had a bad cold....Is losing my voice just a coincedence, or should I be worried about nerve damage?
Avatar m tn my problem is that every time i talk even if i am talking to my best friend my voice cracks like hell and some times hurt and i can feel it cracking at first i though i hit puberty but it still with my i am now 21 smoker and honestly i never visited a doctor about this i feel like there is no cure for this and i have to live with it the rest of my life ...
Avatar m tn It may be laryngitis which is inflammation of the voice box. This can be caused by bacterial or viral infections, mucus coating due to post nasal drip, irritation of the throat and voice box by irritants. Irritants can be anything from dust, smoke, etc. Damage can also be caused if you suffer from acid reflux. You may have damage to the vocal chords by over use, or by straining the vocal chords. If you do sing, then do make sure you do vocal warm ups.
1090601 tn?1257512779 I had 2 surgeries in 4 days. The first left my voice worse but after the 2nd my family noticed in the recovery room it was normal.
114809 tn?1449684996 Hi. I have hashimoto's and am on medication, i feel i am optimized on my meds, feeling great, except when i look in the mirror my neck still looks a little swollen. Also i have to be VERY cautious when i swallow liquids as i choke easily (embarrassing when out in public!) and my voice is unusually deepened, like i have to strain when i laugh or cry. I've also had time when i've lost my voice, like i have laryngitis.
Avatar m tn A few days later I got really sick, sore throat, fever, and eventually lost my voice for a few days. When I recovered, my voice sounded different.. not hoarse per say, but just different, and was noticed by a few others. Ever since then, I could feel that my voice has not recovered. While my nose is not that stuffed or runny, there is always mucus present. It has gotten harder to swallow, and I can't drink liquids as fast as I used to.
Avatar f tn It feels like it is swelling and I am always without a voice. It feels like my throat is tight day and night for some reason. I do have breathing problems and I do not smoke. I have lost 60 pounds and my doctor is taking me off depression pills slowly. The only thing new in my home is my plants with fresh earth and none of them flower. It is hard enough to breathe but in the last while it is getting even harder. I can not go out in the humid weather or in the cold.
Avatar f tn Today I forgot for a second I don’t have a voice when I woke up this morning. And when I said a word by accident, I heard my voice and realized there was no improvement. I’m so scared I’ll never get my voice back. My voice has never been gone for this long. Has anyone else been through this and actually recovered by getting their voice back? I’m just really scared it will never come back.
Avatar n tn Loss my voice on Friday and still not able to talk. What can I do and should I still be working?
