laryngitis

Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, there may be acute bronchitis with or without laryngitis. Acute bronchitis usually presents with sputum (mucus), coughing and can also present with wheezing esp. when the small bronchioles are involved. Associated gastro esophageal reflex disease can worsen the condition. You need to send the mucus or throat swab for culture, microscopy, staining to rule out the pathogen.

Avatar m tn Ever since I have had strange foreign object sensations in the throat, a white furry tongue, rhinitis, sinusitis, headaches, laryngitis and intermittent facial pains around the upper teeth area. I always want to clear my throat but can't and the whole thing is driving me crazy. I have been tested three times for HIV (after six weeks, five months and seven months) and all three tests were negative. Swabs have been taken of the back of the throat and tongue and nothing has been found.
Avatar f tn He is a known asthmatic and I would stretch my imagination to assume he has allergic rhinitis and may be polyps in his nose/ sinuses. And may be a deviation of nasal septum? Some peculiar combination of such conditions can produce similar headaches. I would have examined his nose and may be start nasal topical steroid spray.
Avatar n tn The tenth day tonsil inflammation (no treatment, self-healing) for seven days, 16 days, anorexia, diarrhea, 19 days revealed an enlarged left sternocleidomastoid, day 20 acute rhinitis attack (cold), 22 days of onset of acute laryngitis () a dry throat, cough, take medicine two days better, and the joint pain (off and on for nearly four months). Now the fear and anxiety have seriously affected my life, what I should do, has not been tested. Looking forward to your reply, thank you!
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar f tn I keep losing my voice and I have seen an ENT (vocal chords red and swollen) and asthma doctor. Concluded that I have asthma but very mild put on Symbicort. This has happened about 9 times since last July. Last anywhere from 3-4 weeks. This time I have been fighting it for 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.

Avatar m tn For this, there are steroidal sprays for allergic rhinitis and steroid inhalers for asthma. The steroid content is very minimal in both, sprays and inhalers and long-term use will prevent attacks. When you have an attack, you can use an antihistamine (like Cetzine) for allergic rhinitis. Cetzine is not a steroid and all antihistamines will have some sedative effects. For wheezing, during the attacks, you can use Asthalin. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hello today the doctor told me I had Vasomotor Rhinitis and GERD. A few websites say they go hand in hand is this true?

Avatar f tn Woke up feeling really sick sore throat and my ears are hurting and i can hardly breathe through my nose.
Avatar n tn ve done it says that things pollen, dust, and mold are associated with allergic rhinitis, and things like smoke and perfume are associated with non-allergic rhinitis. Now all of those things seem to affect me, but since I tested negative for everything in all of the allergy tests as I said in my original post, the doctor I was seeing diagnosed me with only having non-allergic rhinitis.
Avatar n tn I need your help to understand my laryngitis problem and to get it cured. I have been suffering from laryngitis for over 3 months and taking medication for the last 2 months. When I consulted a doctor a couple of weeks ago, he did a stroboscopy and said that it could be due to acid reflux; he prescribed "Pantadoc". I took that for a couple of weeks and did not obsserve any difference.
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar m tn Try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops, breathing exercises, and oral antihistamine medications and see if they help. Let us know about what your doctor tells you and keep us posted on how you are doing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Avatar f tn We put a number of our worst Rhinitis patients on it and they say it is a miracle. A couple of them said it burned a bit for the first few days they used it but then it went away. One of the doctors in my clinic said the reasoned it burned for some of them, was that the spray was getting deeper into the sinus cavities where the tissue was still inflamed and that the older wet nasal sprays could not get there as well. See if you can get a sample of it from you doctor and give it a try.
Avatar f tn It should be differentiated from vasomotor rhinitis and Atrophic rhinitis for which consult ENT specialist. There is also secretion of milk from the breast known as galactorrhea, this happens due to hard stimulation of breast, tight clothing (brassiere), and even contraceptive pill and you have already gone through the initial phase of pregnancy and lactation wherein there is further development of breast.

Avatar m tn It is evident from your history that you could most probably be suffering from allergic rhinitis and asthma. Both these diseases are usually triggered by an allergen. These allergens, when exposed to initiate immune mediated reactions which will result in the symptoms you experience. The allergic history usually runs in families. Asthma can be detected by a spirometry test, and it may not be detected with an x ray or a CT scan. So, the problem can be tackled at three levels.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy may be complicated by new-onset or preexistent allergic disease, including rhinitis, anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema, and atopic dermatitis. Pregnancy and asthma is extensively studied. Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice.
Avatar n tn Acute pharyngitis and laryngitis is the commonest cause of loss of voice due to infection and inflammation of the voice box and throat. This active infection, coughing, and clearing throat can often result in break in small blood vessels. Usually these heal with treatment of laryngitis which involves antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic drugs along with maybe decongestants, warm saline gargles and throat elixirs.
