Laryngitis and nodules

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis and nodules

laryngitis

Avatar f tn More plausible causes of hoarseness of voice need to be checked like acute laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, allergies, gastro esophageal reflux, smoking, thyroid problems, trauma to larynx, parkinson’s disease and trauma to larynx. Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference. Hope this information helps you. Take care.
Avatar m tn Then developed into a more congested mucousal cough. Headaches and fatigue throughout the majority of sickness. I have since developed sort of bumps or nodules in the back of my throat which seem odd to me. I have had strep multiple times and usually develop more the classic white spots, this is different. I have had 2 new sexual partners lately (in the last 5 weeks) and am wondering if this is possibly related to something transmissible in that way.
Avatar n tn The nodule is quite large and more recently I have had consistent, mostly mild sore throat and one weird case of laryngitis. I literally woke up one morning and couldn't talk for over a week for no reason. Just curious on if anyone else has had anything similar? Should I get a second opinion?
673012 tn?1225915011 ve was recently told by a second endocrinologist that I should get my thyroid removed and the three noncancerous nodules (affectionately named Tom, ****, and Harry) that sit on both sides and the top. First, I told them they'd have to chase me with the knife. But they I thought about what they said, "If the nodules bother you, then they should be removed." Now I've had hypothyroidism since I was 8, I'm now 22, and my thyroid is almost useless.
114809 tn?1449684996 Hi. I have hashimoto's and am on medication, i feel i am optimized on my meds, feeling great, except when i look in the mirror my neck still looks a little swollen. Also i have to be VERY cautious when i swallow liquids as i choke easily (embarrassing when out in public!) and my voice is unusually deepened, like i have to strain when i laugh or cry. I've also had time when i've lost my voice, like i have laryngitis.

Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar f tn I keep losing my voice and I have seen an ENT (vocal chords red and swollen) and asthma doctor. Concluded that I have asthma but very mild put on Symbicort. This has happened about 9 times since last July. Last anywhere from 3-4 weeks. This time I have been fighting it for 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
556467 tn?1225377691 I had them removed in May of last year and I did okay for a few months but still had bouts of laryngitis and feeling of something stuck in my throat. In January of this year I became very ill AGAIN with upper respiratory infection that then progressed into bronchitis. It seemed that I was catching anything that I was exposed to (still do). I was having a lot of trouble breathing and of course, couldn't talk. I thought maybe my lungs were the problem.
778528 tn?1253813350 I have had pain in my thyroid area for a week now. It got worse, I developed a fever, had chills then I was so overheated and couldn't cool down at all. The next day, I went to the doctor and he put me on an antibiotic for a sinus infection. He said my nasal passages looked a little inflamed. I have been on the2,000 mg. of amoxicillin antibiotic for 4 days now and am not better. I tossed and turned and moaned all night long last night. I was miserable.

Avatar n tn I need your help to understand my laryngitis problem and to get it cured. I have been suffering from laryngitis for over 3 months and taking medication for the last 2 months. When I consulted a doctor a couple of weeks ago, he did a stroboscopy and said that it could be due to acid reflux; he prescribed "Pantadoc". I took that for a couple of weeks and did not obsserve any difference.
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Acute pharyngitis and laryngitis is the commonest cause of loss of voice due to infection and inflammation of the voice box and throat. This active infection, coughing, and clearing throat can often result in break in small blood vessels. Usually these heal with treatment of laryngitis which involves antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic drugs along with maybe decongestants, warm saline gargles and throat elixirs.
1090601 tn?1257512779 I was Told that i have tumor on my gland as well.. and I just woke up with nose voice.. is that normal ?
Avatar n tn I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? If so, which STD would be most likely?
Avatar n tn I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
Avatar n tn My son developed laryngitis about 2 months ago. It is severe so that he can not talk at all. His ENT diagnosed it as Muscular dysphonia. He is seeing a speech therapist, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. He plays Sax in the band at school and can't get enough air out to play. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Hello, There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours. Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
Avatar m tn I had a unprotected sex about 3 and half weeks back with an unknown Girl for about 5 mins. Next day I got mouth infection ( just soar throat no fever no flu symptoms) and doctor (ENT) suggested some antibiotics, after which I was feeling OK in a day. I thought it was a strep and asked for a swab test. Couple days later doctor confirmed its nothing. I had tonsillitis (swollen tonsils) before I had sex with her.
Avatar f tn Had to leave work today and may have to take time off as I have no voice. My sinus issues seem to be worse and digestion, may be causing this. My ENT is doing some tests. If anyone has suggestions , pls send my way. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
