Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??

I had my check up 8 days ago and was given Augmentin, the hoarseness was gone but the pain on the lower part of my neck is still there every time I speak and the pain on my ear is still there. My doctor advised me to use Augmentin for another 3 days.
I need advise on the tests that I need to do that I can suggest to my doctor, what medicines I need to take, and what I can do to take care of my throat.

I don't quite know how i came across this, i guess i was rubbing my neck and playing about with it (whilst i wait for a GP appointment) anyway, just underneath my adams apple i pulled the skin and felt what seems to be 2 - 3 inch long mass of tissue ( i don't think its a muscle ) now i heard GERD can cause cancer.. possible?
At the beginning of this month I believe I strained or damaged my voice from long hours of singing. My throat felt fatigued and I had tension in my neck. Hoarse voice etc etc. I also ended up with a popping/thumping feeling in my throat that happened every time I swallowed except when I was eating or drinking. The best way I can describe the feeling is try and imagine the sensation and pressure of cracking the knuckle of your middle finger and imagining that exact feeling in your throat.
I do notice sternacleidomastoid (scm) being tender/sore, and up under jaw, behind ear, in ear, in rt lymph node area especially behind it, but lymph node is not swollen, but just in that area there is pain. I know the scm attaches in tha region, and there are a host of neck muscles, and even under chin in diagastric muscles, plus shoulder &n neck muscles that can come into play here. Often, like today, the area under my chin is tender.
It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc.

10 days before I got sharp pain in my neck and later on I always feel there something stuck in my throat and later on pain in righ side of the neck and now having ear pain with it ...I checked up with doctor he has given me some medicine and said take medicine and show me after 10 days if again same problem then we need to do sonography.... Can this be throat cancer i smoke and now I quit ....
Since my youth I have had the odd episode of a cramp-like feeling across my upper back/shoulders when lying down in bed. Eventually put in down to stomach acid. Over the last year had an ongoing upset stomach which the GP has down as acid issues which I take tablets for. Associated pains in lower abdomen he outs down to IBS.
1. Pain radiating to left ear and neck off and on with swallowing
2. Feels like having a small pea stuck in side of throat, radiating to ear and tongue base
3. Pain on turning neck, or touching the carotid
3. CT (neck) with/ w-o contrast. Showed something "inflamed" at the bifurcation of the left carotid artery
You must probably be having CAROIDYNIA (it is a form of vascular neck and face pain in which the vascular change occurs in the carotid artery in the neck).
In June 2020 I got a bout of laryngitis. I continued on for 10 days w/ progressing neck pain radiating up to my temple on right side. Sent for Covid test (neg). Worsened and went to ER. Xrays and CTs showed slight protrusion of C4&5 and C6&7, but otherwise - normal. CBCs normal. SedRate/Inflammation marker - normal. I am female, 5'8 140, overall good health. In the last 9 months, ENT for laryrngoscopy -> clear.
If the pain is internal then it can be due to laryngitis or inflammation of the voice box. Gargling with warm water and antibiotics help. If it is on the outside then it can be due to inflammation of thyroid or a boil or a swollen lymph node. Please consult a doctor as diagnosis is not possible on net.

Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference.

Hi there! I'm so sorry you're having problems with your neck. I'm really surprised that your doctor didn't check your TSH levels considering the fact that cysts were found on your thyroid. I have Hashimoto's disease and it took 2 years to finally get diagnosed a year ago.
my voice has change I get hoarse after I talk a lot. I just got over ON and my eye dr thought I had glaucoma? I had a lot of pain in my eye. he took me next door and put 5 holes in my eye to releases the pressure . it was better? but he still cant give me a answer to what it is. I had ON in 09 and it was the same thing I told him that.but he still had no answer? well its still a little blurry but its a lot better. it lasted a lot longer.

There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed.
She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Who stated I have acute laryngitis. I have had a sore throat now going on 4 weeks... So paranoid checked and saw that laryngitis is a symptom of HIV? So I ended up in the emergency again.
I have no other symptoms asides from this..,

I had a unprotected sex about 3 and half weeks back with an unknown Girl for about 5 mins. Next day I got mouth infection ( just soar throat no fever no flu symptoms) and doctor (ENT) suggested some antibiotics, after which I was feeling OK in a day. I thought it was a strep and asked for a swab test. Couple days later doctor confirmed its nothing. I had tonsillitis (swollen tonsils) before I had sex with her.
There is a type of acid reflux that is very common in asthma patients where the acid refluxes up into the back of the throat where it can cause sinus infections, laryngitis, and asthma symptoms.
Have this checked by a doctor.
