544292 tn?1268886268 The length of time withdrawal symptoms occur can range from a couple of days to weeks depending on how high your dose was and how long you were on the drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be reduced by discontinuing use of the drug slowly (i.e., gradually reducing the daily dose). Tramadol is more complex than other opiate and opiate-like medications because it also appears to have actions on the GABAergic, noradrenergic, and serotonergic systems in the brain.
544292 tn?1268886268 Theres a lot of conflicting information about seizures on the list. I've never seen anYone have a seizure in tramadol WITHDRAWAL. Have seen several people have seizures when TAKING tramadol. AND, every tramadol related seizure I saw did not seem related to how high a dose the person was taking; RATHER was in instances where someone markedly INCREASED their dose. I think the confusion is in that seizures are common when withdrawing from sedatives (alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazapines etc).
284078 tn?1282620298 If I make a very gross estimate that there might be 2000 people in my city taking Topamax and I, personally have seen 2 attacks in one year, then that would put the risk at about 1 in 1000. Please understand that I have no scientific evidence to base this rate on and that this is purely my very rough estimate from my experience only. So take it for what's it worth.
Avatar m tn I ended up in a 3 year rehab program that was awesome and ended up walking out after a year. That nite i ended up in not just any bar, but the Largest Bar in Texas called "Billy Bob's" it has like 100 bars inside, a live bull, etc.... i felt so guilty and like such a loser. Shortly after that i moved to California. I met Jesus there and He turned my life around, and for once it was right side up, instead of upside down.

Avatar m tn He has been in perfect health but just out of the blue had a grand mal seizure. I took him to the veterinary hospital as it was in the evening and he had two more there. Within 24 hours they got me in to see a neurologist and now he's being treated for a bad case of Valley Fever. He drinks a ton and eats more, but my biggest concern is his lethargy and lack of coordination. It takes him so much effort to get up, particularly the hind legs; it's so sad to watch.

Avatar m tn Where I live its somewhat small and I work as a consultant so my image is very important, I am on a account with the largest company in the area so if I lost my job I would have to pick ip and move away from my home of 15 years. I don't know if I want to chance that. I am allocated to projects that can't avoid to have someone gone for 30 or more days, so I would have to be replaced by another consultant.
Avatar n tn Hi, I havent taken seizure medication...this all started rather recently. Did the HSV cause the pressure in your head?? Did it do something to your brain? I remember having cold sores as a child, but not at the time this feeling inside my head started, that I was aware of, anyway.
Avatar n tn If you don't die from heart failure or respiratory collapse, then this hell will continue for another couple of days in which you will problably go into the DT's [Delirium Tremens] where you won't even know where you are, who you are, and what is happening to you. You will be in complete seizure delirium. As Thomas mentioned you will end up in the psych ward and probably violent like you never thought you could get. The fear builds too as it goes along.
Avatar n tn Keeps your seizure threshold up and slows withdrawals. How is it prescribed for you? Did you take any yet? Did he put you on a tapering dose schedule with the phenobarbital? Dealing with withdrawal: Stick to the taper plan, rest, remain calm (your nervous system needs to heal),force fluids and eat small meals. I don't know about a "solution"...do you mean the Thomas Recipe"? Headache is a major withdrawal sympton along with anxiety and insomnia. Be sure to stick with the taper!
Avatar n tn If you do it on your own, then it can be very dangerous because many have just jumped on the tramadol bandwagon in place of their drug of choice. If you do it on your own, taking ultram to detox is almost the same thing as tapering with your drug of choice. And, many can't do that. Ultram is also dangerous for those previously dependent on an opioid because if you take ultram when you have been previously dependent, it just gets the whole thing started again.

Avatar n tn The guy is the head of one of the largest liver transplant centers in the country, and has published over 300 papers on liver issues. I'll have to take his word for it.
Avatar n tn I hope you guys don't give up on me because you think I will just fill my next script when it is due. In my heart I know this is killing me. I just don't know what to do anymore. The only time that I am happy is when I chew a couple of oxy's. If I am not high then I am not interested in anything. I don't understand why this is happening. Will I ever be able to lead a productive life without pills? It is not fair to both my girlfriend (who used also)and I to keep doing this to ourselves.
