hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar f tn By the way, if the cyst is benign, you could be a candidate for a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy, or a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with removal of ovary(s). I'm sure that you don't want more surgery, but you even more don't want more cancer! Good luck!
Avatar f tn should they have taken the fundus for a partial LSH hysterectomy? I have one ovary left also it keeps rupturing with pain almost monthly. I have a deep cavity where the Gyrus morcelator was put in.. It made a hernia. I now have a Ventralex 1.7 mesh. I do not want in me.. along with the bacteria from the rupturing ovary. Scared I am going to get cancer. High family history.
Avatar n tn I got an ulta-sound done i had endometriosis completely covering my left ovary. Feb. 11th. i had a supracervical hysterectomy done. This scar tissue is EVIL. I had laser surgery 10 yrs. ago to have it removed. Most of the time it's a temp fix. I would definately go for the ultra sound. There are also meds out that is supposed to releive menstrual pain due to endo. Have it checked, trust me. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn I have had right hip pain that started about 1 year post hysterectomy. I wake at night when I am sleeping on my right side with terrible pain. I was in to see my ( woman ) primary care doc for another reason. She had recently had a hysterectomy and had ( in the past ) said all good things about it but is now starting to have symptoms from it. It takes awhile for your body to figure out what has been done to it. One ( of many ) of her big complaints is right hip pain. She had tests, x ray etc.
Avatar f tn I had a LSH & Oopherectomy a little over 3 weeks ago. I know with the removal of my uterus and ovaries that I have to wait until my 6 week post-op appointment to have sex (intercourse)...my question is can you have any other sexual activity as long as there is no penetration? I didn't know if an orgasm could possibly hurt/delay my recovery.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel.(Brca gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything either . For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?
Avatar f tn I am 2 weeks post op....hysterectomy...I am experiencing severe left sided low back pain... Could this be related to the surgery?
Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I get a hysterectomy. I do not want to try any medications because I feel that they will only mask the problem and eventually I will have to deal with it. I have two children, and don't plan on having additional children. My doctor suggested performing the hysterectomy laparoscopically to avoid opening me up again. She will remove the endometriosis through coagulation. Do you think that these two methods are the appropriate treatment?
Avatar f tn Right dermoid ovarian cyst, Post menopausal per supracervical hysterectomy-No HRT due to Mothers non hormonal r+ breast CA, +smoker, light etOH use. Grandmother (maternal side) had hx DM and also died of Bladder CA, Bothers and mom also have microhematuria. History of vertigo and MRI shows ovoid lesions in corpus collusum/High T1 and suspected demyelination but neuro says NOT MS. Got more insignificant Hx, but I just think it's time to get this looked at again.
Avatar n tn Like spreading my legs part is not comfortable to do. Why do I feel any pressure an pain down there I thought laparoscopic hysterectomy meant we did not touch my vagina? And if it is normal, it has been almost 3 months now why is the discomfort still there anyway?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. Recently I was diagnosed with endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS). I had a leep procedure and that's how it was discovered. I'm now scheduled to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I get to keep my ovaries. I'm 31, no children and I don't want any so that's not a problem for me. But I'm still struggling. I'm scared to have the hysterectomy because the recovery process seems so long and painful and one of my biggest fears is pain.
Avatar f tn I saw my obgyn today and was told in order to relieve my menstrual cramping the next step would be a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I had an oblation 2 years ago and it wasn't helping anymore. I was wondering if i will still get my period, he said he would be leaving my ovaries in.
274158 tn?1276347187 As long as your ovaries are working, you will not have menopausal symptoms. You may want to discuss with your doctor the advisability of a supracervical hysterectomy [where the cervix is not removed]. Personally, I see no advantage in this, as it leaves in place a useless organ that can become cancerous.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy that started out laparoscopic then went to abdominal? Do you have any advice for recovery ? Tips? Heads up?
Avatar f tn A small fibroid is not a reason to get a hysterectomy, either. Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn I am now just over 2 weeks post op. I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, Davinci assist. I've been doing ok. Some back pain at end of days have been typical, especially if I did a few things during the day. I was in pain last night and went to ER. I was diagnosed with a UTI and given Cipro. Is it late to be getting a UTI this far out from my surgery and catheter?
Avatar n tn I had a supracervical hyterectomy 5 years ago, and cannot take estrogen replacement of any kind, due to the extreme constipation it causes me. 5 years later, I am now having pain in my vaginal and cervical area, which seems now to only get worse when I try to apply any kind of feminine lubricant. The pain is so bad at times that it throbs. I have been to the emergency room 3 times for this over the past 5 years. I have been reading about "vulvodynia" and wonder if I have this.
Avatar f tn Just had laparoscopic hysterectomy 1 week ago. Just felt a discharge and went to the bathroom and had a rush of blood. Is that normal? I spend yesterday mostly on my feet and walking around. Could this be the reason? Please help.
2065110 tn?1331059080 Hi, i am hoping to get some answers. I had an abdominal supracervical hysterectomy 3 weeks ago, due to abnormal bleeding and pain. Tests confirmed i have/had endometriosis. Ever since then i have intense bladder pressure. To the point it keeps me awake at night. I feel like i have to urinate constantly. When i do urinate there is even more pressure in my bladder that it is almost painful. I was tested for a UTI and it came back negative. The pressure is constant and doesn't go away.
Avatar f tn I have recently found out that I am getting a complete hysterectomy (removal of my cervix, uterus and ovaries). It is being done with robot assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy. I am only 35 yr old and a little bit concerned with menopause and the hormone replacement therapy. I am just wondering what other women have experienced with having a complete hysterectomy and the symptoms of menopause.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone...I recently had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy and could use advice. 2 days at home and had to return. A cat scan confirmed an abcess. I became in patient for 4days then sent home w an abdominal drain and bag. 2weeks nearly and cut revealed should be able to remove abdominal catheter and bag this week. How serious is an abcess just above vaginal wall, what can cause it, and what kind of questions should I be asking my doc?
Avatar n tn Now 13 years later I have what they said is another 4cm dermoid cyst on my left ovary. I have laparoscopic surgery scheduled to remove the cyst. I'm curious to if others have have had dermoid cysts come back after laparotomy AND has anyone had laparoscopic surgery after laparotomy and scar tissue been an issue? Thank you in advance!!!
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the DiVinci machine for a hysterectomy? How long was recovery? How did it go?
477837 tn?1457461992 I went right back to not having any bowel movements. I only went once a week with an enema. I got a supracervical hysterectomy on Dec. 12th, 2008. I no longer got my period but I still wasn't having an bowel movements. Since then I haven't had a regular bowel movement & can not go own my own without an enema or by taking senna before bed.
477837 tn?1457461992 I am having a Supracervical Hysterectomy performed on Dec. 12th and wanted to know what things to expect right after surgery and then a month or 2 after. My dr. insists on me keeping 1 ovary because I'm 31 so I will have a bit of estrogen and I'm not sure if I will be taking any hormonal supplements. Main thing I would like to know is there really a loss of sexual drive.
