lantus

Avatar n tn Is Lantus and Metformin ok to take or is the Metformin harmful to my liver? I know several with Hep-c who take Metformin.
Avatar n tn I am also on Metformin I stopped taking the latus and the vomiting stopped and everything is good now that I am only taking Metformin and not the Lantus.... I think that I was having a reaction to the latus and my Doctor told me that my numbers are good so to not take the lantus....
Avatar m tn I am now up to 25 units of lantus and 1000 in the AM and 500 in the PM of metformin. I have liver issues and maybe the IR is playing into this. Anyone have any insight into this?
Avatar f tn I would also never every recommend that he do something that would violate CFR regulations by concealing the fact he is taking Lantus with an insulin syringe. My own opinion is that use of Lantus together with Metformin, together with exercise and tight dietary control (and I mean tight) would not unduly hazard the general public.
Avatar f tn I have been on Metformin, Januvia and Glimeperide for a few years. They are not controlling my diabetes. She wanted me to try Victoza and give up the Januvia. I got over fear of giving myself the shot, but on the 3rd day I began to get sick. On the 4th and 5th days I couldn't even go to work. Changed shot to before bed instead of morning and it made no difference. After a little over a week I stopped it. Lost 5 lbs cause I couldn't eat anything.
Avatar m tn I am on 500 metformins twice a day and 40 units of Lantus. When my sugar is really high I will take one extra metformin. Is this okay ?
Avatar n tn I take Lantus and I also take Metformin 500 mg. twice a day. I am on 20 units of Lantus and have taken Lantus for years. (I use to be on 40 units a day, until I lost 125 pounds) I have not been good about following my diet and I notice that my blood sugar readings have been higher. My fasting blood sugars have been higher than normal (around 175) but I know it's because I have been eating too many carbs and have gained 20 pounds.

Avatar m tn I just started on Lantus and Humalog and my blood sugars seem to keep going up, I take 30 U at night Lantus and I take Humalog 10 before meals if my bs is 180 or higher, does this sound right, I was diagnosed a Type 2 about 6 years ago, but the Glipizide and Metformin I was taking has been stopped, but my fasting bs has been 270 or higher any suggestions I know control my diet I get that, I also weigh 239 my Dr's say to loose weight, and I am going to try.
10443766 tn?1410724207 I was on metformin lantus and humalog then they took me off metformin and changed to levimer and humalog. My Dr made me a high risk patient so I get more visits. Its harder because I need to test more but its worth it. My Dr is also very curious on my body and my baby though because once I begay second trimester insulin made my sugars spike (600+) and ice cream, cake, candy etc would make me low (75-90) so I haven't been able to take my insulin.
Avatar f tn It is a once a week injection that I take along with my daily Metformin and nightly Lantus injection. It has worked really well over the past year. Has anyone else used it? Others I have spoken with have never heard of it. And on top of that, I spoke with a customer service rep at Brystol-Myers who said it was not intended to be used with insulin.
12861759 tn?1432917955 I am currently using Lantus and Novolog. Drs. advice is to start with 40 units of Lantus and up it 2 units every third day until I get a fasting BG of less then 130. Is it more important to get to my Lantus goal on a consistant basis before I try to adjust my Novolog?
Avatar n tn I have weened myself off Lantus Solostar insulin and have not taken it for months. I got my A1C's down from 12.2 to 6.9 in 3 months and normal BS every day. Ate healthy.. Well I have been very bad again and I went to lunch and had fried seafood and then a sundae at Dairy Queen. Mouth very dry and thirsty as anything. Checked my blood Sugar and it was 459. I took my Metformin early to try and bring it down. Can I take maybe 10 units of the Lantus to try and bring it down a little more?
Avatar f tn I am overweight (100 lbs) and have other complications due to my obesity. (stent placement) I am currently taking Metformin 1000 mg x 2 twice daily, plus Lantus Solostar, 27 units. When I began the insulin, my blood glucose was over 400! Now it is down between 200 - 230 in the morning. They want to put me on a different type of insulin to take with meals. I don't want to do that. Is there anything I can do to lower my blood sugar naturally without taking more insulin?
Avatar f tn There are several people here who have had expereince with blood sugar problems and treatment. Some used stuff like metformin or even insulin throughout treatment. My expereience was that high blood sugar levels went away while on treatment. That was a result of the red cell killing abilities of the ribavirin.
Avatar n tn Prior to that I took oral medications only(all sorts, metformin, avandia, etc..) In October of last year my A1C was at 6.3. Adjusting my insulin levels seemed to have no effect on my fasting blood gloucose level (typically in 130 range). August of last year I was put on Tricor and added Diovan 160 in Novemeber, and have always been taking 1000mg of metformin twice a day. Since November my blood sugar has become unmanagable (fasting in 150+ range).
Avatar m tn I am on Lantus 40 units, twice a day. Humalog sliding scale, starting at 20 units. For every 50 mg/dl over 150, 2 more units. In a typical day, Between 20-28 units multiple times a day. A1c=7.7 currently. Is Humalog maybe not the right choice if I need such high dosing?
Avatar f tn We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.
Avatar f tn If I work to reduce my lantus dosage while maintaining a proper blood sugar will that aid weight loss? Does anything out there help to boost metabolism in diabetics? Frustrated! Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Avatar m tn exercise is restricted due to 1 1/2 in differential between leg lengths. metformin intake is 850 X 3 daily and 35u of lantus. numbers at testing run 180+. can get it down to 120 - 160 during the day. overnight 125 went down to below 80 and i awoke in sweats and so dizzy i had to eat. All this in an attempt to manage my glucose levels and have an A1C below 7. I don't get what I'm measuring and exactly how what I eat, when I eat it affects my level. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn There is no correct dose of insulin or typical for any person. The correct dose for you is the dose that controls your blood sugar well. Eating a lower carb diet / exercise may also help in reducing how much insulin you need to take. If you are on such a high dose, you may also be dealing with insulin resistance. You may ask your Dr whether you can try an insulin sensitising drug such as metformin.
499220 tn?1243052283 It is cellulitis, and they put me on Bactrim (I know, usually for U T I's. But I take Vicodin, Clonopin, Verapamil, Lamictal, Cymbalta, Ferrous Sulfate, Lofibra, Ambien, Lyrica, Flovent, Albuterol, Novolog, Lantus, Metformin.....that's what I can think of off the top of my head, there's more though....) probably because of all the meds that I take. But I was feeling good the last dose into the treatment 2 tabs for 7 days.
1273125 tn?1365077526 I will confess that I have not been dilligent with my diet and exercise. My latest A1c was 7.3. I am taking 850 mg of Metformin twice a day. My morning blood sugar is around 200. I am close to or over 200 for most of the day as well. I have decided that until I can lose weight and get my numbers in control that way that insulin might be a good choice for me. I am afraid that it constantly being that high is going to cause damage.
Avatar f tn My son is an adult autistic and has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The trouble here is that he has not had a bowel movement in almost three days. He says that there is no pain and there is no bloating. He just does not feel any urge to move his bowels. He does not feel full or uncomfortable, but he knows that this is not normal and is getting more and more upset about it.
Avatar n tn Hi again Jay! I am not a medical professional, so please verify any medical information I pass on to you with your daughter's healthcare team. I found out that there is a skin test to check for insulin allergy. I obtained this information on the American Academy of Allergy's website. They're at www.aaaai.org. You may want to seek an allergist's help to find out if this may be your daughter's problem. Please post again and let us know how you're both doing!
