Avatar n tn amiodarone is, from what i understand, a very powerful antiarrythmic with serious side effects... i know that my daughters cardiologist at the univ of mich had told us when they put her on lanoxin that the risks of amiodarone in her case made her not a good candidate for it. i do know that many have taken it for short periods and it seemed to help, but i believe it generally not taken long term as lanoxin or digoxin is hope my little bit helps and good luck....... dawn p.s.
Avatar n tn The 20% you refer to is the amount of blood pumped out of the left ventricle into circulation with each heartbeat. Normal is 50 to 70% and medically referred to as ejection fraction (EF). If the left ventricle is overworked by pumping against high resistance, i.e. high blood pressure, increased volume, etc.
Avatar n tn My baby girl is 2 months and 2 weeks old her doctor told me se suffers from VSD muscular 4mm, ASD2 4mm,PHT and he gave her medicine lasix and lanoxin but she became lazy, less active and always sleepy without appetite.
Avatar m tn Of that list, I would be suspicious of the Ceruvin & Betaloc as reasons for my thinning hair. Those are known side effects of those drugs. But, as Ed has mentioned, a simple blood test to make sure all the other levels are in check will help stop the continued hair loss. I have always had thin hair and now that I am taking the drugs I do, I have had to deal with the side effects. The benefits far out weigh the hair loss.
Avatar n tn (on monitors) it was noted that my heart rate was racing up to 160 bpm while at complete rest. After the doctor observed this, I told the doc I have been complaining for years about a very rapid heart rate to many docs only to be dismissed as having "anxiety". I spent a week in the hospital and was sent home on Coreg, Lanoxin, Digoxin, Quinipril. 5 weeks following my EF was up to 30-35%.... 3 months following it was up to 46% and my cardiomyopathy is resolving.
4703993 tn?1379768388 5 (really small dose, but even with 10mg of Midodrene 3x a day my blood pressure would drop too low and the side effects were unbearable) .. so he concluded that I have a sensitivity to beta blockers.
Avatar n tn The second time I experienced SVT was in 2007, again my Dr gave me Lanoxin. Lanoxin was only prescribed when ever i have SVT. This 2009, I had several SVTs. In Sept 2009, my Dr. suggested to hv my regular ECG, CBC and my first time to undergo a 2D Echo with Doppler. My BP is 90/60. All ok, except for my low rbc ct in CBC. My Dr told me that low rbc cause lack of oxygen that is the reason i had SVT. She prescribed Ferrous Sulfates as source of my iron for blood oxygen.
Avatar n tn When I was in my teens I started having electrical problems in my heart and they used Dilantin (looooong story). I hate that medicine! The side effects were terrible. I then went to have a normal pregnancy & delivery with a healthy baby with no congenital heart condition (Thank GOD!) My blood pressure has always been extremely low and I have not required any other open heart surgery as other patients with my same original condition.

Avatar f tn I would definitely try to avoid any stressful environment if you can. Make sure that you are taking your medications as prescribed by your doctor. The medications really helps and are best. My dad was taking Lanoxin to strength his heart pump and I took his pulse the other day and was it strong. There was quite a change that I felt from before he started taking it. I am glad to hear that you are improving and feeling better. Take care.

Avatar n tn Hello, My father (60 years old) underwent an aortic valve replacement along with double-bypass 9 months ago. After he was moved to the room from the ICU, he developed orthopnea and swollen feet. The doctors moved him back to the ICU for 2 days and this went away. He was then discharged and is now recovering at home. He was taking Lanoxin and diuretics and did not have any swelling or breathlessness. So after 3 months the doctor stopped these medications (without checking the EF).
Avatar f tn What r the treatment my doctor said IV.but I C where there's pills so confused and really wish I knew what my numbers match.Thank you.
Avatar f tn It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
