Avatar n tn Digoxin is the generic for Lanoxin, so they are the same (just in case you are taking both). Coreg is a great beta blocker, so that should really help the fast heartbeat and blood pressure. Lanoxin helps the heart to beat stronger and get a better fill. Lanoxin will strengthen the heart muscle. Sounds like the medications are really improving your heart. That is really great news!! Yes, your heart can get better.
Avatar n tn Is your uncle taking Lanoxin (heart medication)? Lanoxin has shown to increase the pumping strength. My father had a weak heart beat and after being on Lanoxin for about 10 years now, he's heart beat is strong (very strong per taking his pulse). Ask your uncle's doctor about Lanoxin.
329165 tn?1515471990 I am 6 1/2 weeks post-op after OHS to repair Mitral valve (Annuluplasty). Since the op I have a resting HR of 120+ and low BP (ave 90/60). Went to Cardio for 6 weeks check-up and he prescribed LANOXIN 0,25mg with high starting dosage (had to take 4 tabs the 1st day). It is now 7 days later and still no improvement. My HR is still fast and BP low and I now have extra systoles/irregular HR. Should I stop using LANOXIN and switch to SOTACOR (I used it pre-op). I had Ablation done in Nov.
Avatar n tn Beta blockers like metoprolol and ACE inhibitors like benazepril have been been shown to be of value in patients with congestive heart failure as well as for hypertension. Simvastatin is of value for patients with both diabetes and heart disease. Talk to your doctor and changes can be made to minimize the side effects.
Avatar n tn Also, I researched Lanoxin and that sounds like it may be a drug suitable for him. Any advice you may have would be great thanks.
390388 tn?1279636213 call your dr and have them write a new script for digoxin or lanoxin... there is a possibility that your dr may want a new dig level before starting new script...
Avatar n tn i know that my daughters cardiologist at the univ of mich had told us when they put her on lanoxin that the risks of amiodarone in her case made her not a good candidate for it. i do know that many have taken it for short periods and it seemed to help, but i believe it generally not taken long term as lanoxin or digoxin is hope my little bit helps and good luck....... dawn p.s.
Avatar f tn The medications really helps and are best. My dad was taking Lanoxin to strength his heart pump and I took his pulse the other day and was it strong. There was quite a change that I felt from before he started taking it. I am glad to hear that you are improving and feeling better. Take care.

Avatar n tn Wife, 89, has history of atril fib and is prescribed lisinopril (40mg), lasix (40mg) and lanoxin (20mg) along with coumadin (5mg) daily. Recent wide-ranging BP/Pulse readings (160's/80's and pulse below 50) led to adding Toprol XL. First tab last night at bedtime resulted in lowered BP (128/50 and pulse of 41) this AM. Accompanied by inability to urinate (except few drops) for a water drinker.
Avatar f tn In this condition medications are used to decrease the heart arte like lanoxin, beta-blockers, and calcium channel blockers. Afib is slowing down may mean that your doctor is telling you about the progression of the disease or its improvement. It is best to clarify your concerns with a cradiologist.Keep me posted on how you are doing. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Or maybe the Lanoxin will help. I traveled to San Francisco for my ablation so my EP is there too. For now, I'm just keeping my cardiologist here in the loop. I think I'm just bummed to be back in the not knowing what is up stage again. Thanks again for your replies!
329165 tn?1515471990 s appointment Cardio noted this (I thought it is normal post-op to have such a fast HR) and prescribed LANOXIN. I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now and still no improvement in HR and BP. GP did bloodtests and these are the results: TSH: normal CRP: normal range Full blood count: normal range Pro-BNP: 218. Can anyone tell me what is this Pro-BNP test and if 218 is high?
Avatar f tn 8%, LALV clot absent and told the patient that he is having global hipokinesia. treatmwent given is - lasilactone 50mg, lanoxin, nitrocontin, ranojex. patient has respiratory allergy problems due to pollens in feb-march. i want to know prognosis of this patient and whether the treatment is correct or not and whether the patient should keep oxygen cylinder and what precaution he should take.
Avatar f tn I told my specialist and he ordered a blood test which came back as double normal value for heart failure. He ordered an echo to see if my EF was normal or low to determine what kind of treatment I can have. I left hospital before the echo results were given to my Doc so I have to wait until my next appt in three weeks time.
274158 tn?1276347187 Not towards me. Just other dogs......I thought he was showing aggression towards my daughter, but he was just trying to sniff her crotch! He is gross! I guess that's what dogs do! But, no agression towards us humans, just dogs, which isn't fun....
Avatar m tn She was seen by doctor suggested to wait until she is 3 months and stay under supervision and there is 90% for the hole to close until then. prescribed Lasix(centoxin),Lanoxin (frusin) And KT for her to start immediately. I know that Lasix has some side efects as to pottasium loss and water loss, is it dangerous for a newborn to be taking these medications . I am really worried for my baby.Is it safe to use the medication? Is it recomended to go for surgery?? and when?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had my 6 weeks check-up with Cardio today. I managed to do the Treatmill test for 4 1/2 minutes. Very impressed with myself for lasting so long. I am very unfit and will do some serious walking this week! My resting HR was anything between 120-130 and Cardio is not happy with that. I am hypotensive, so he can't give me a beta-blocker either (BP was 90/60) he prescribed LANOXIN that should help with HR without effecting BP.
Avatar n tn DOGS CANNOT TAKE DECONGESTANTS!!!! They cannot metabolize them. If your dogs ears are that bad they are in need of antibiotic and antifungals. You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.
