Avatar n tn These are not all that difficult to diagnose, but may not be on the mind of an internist who may just think women gain weight from emotional stuff (ie, eating to calm feelings a la Oprah). Another thing to check is medication side effects. I'm not certain about weight gain, but a pregnant looking belly can be from uterine fibroids. A big belly from fluid trapped like in one post is often from liver problem and can be very serious.
Avatar n tn I understand that it takes a long time to get this drug out of your system and the weight loss is very slow. I think that most of the 4 pound weight loss is because I fasted for a few days and took UltraClear which is a powdered "metabolic detoxification" product you mix with water. I used to only be able to get it through a doctor but now it is avaibale on the internet. It is a de-tox flush that I thought would help get Lexapro out of my system. I think it has helped.
Avatar f tn First of all I am not a nurse ot doctor but I wanted to comment on the hair loss. I have also been prescribed topamax for pain, mood stabilizer and weight loss so I have been looking a lot on the net. I have seen a few things about hair loss. I wanted to comment on that. I have been a hairstylist for 24 years and one thing that I have noticed without doubt is that when one of my customers loses a significant amount of weight (25 lbs or more) they always have a loss of hair.
Avatar f tn A rash was one of the first symptoms of my problem 7 years ago. Dermatologists don't know what it is, including doing a biopsy.) He said the hair loss was a lot, but he didn't know what would cause it. When I asked if he thought I was allergic to fillers or something in the Cytomel, he said "maybe." and shrugged. He asked why I was on generic T4 instead of Synthroid and said everyone should be on a Brand name product.
Avatar f tn Symptoms and Complications of Decompensated Cirrhosis Patients with decompensated cirrhosis develop a variety of symptoms such as fatigue, exhaustion, loss of appetite, nausea, jaundice, weight loss, stomach pain, impotence, bruising and bleeding, and other potentially life threatening symptoms. Complications will also develop because the liver is unable to perform many functions.
Avatar n tn dont want your neighbors to find out your taking weight loss pills? No worries!, we have hidden them in the pencil box along with other childrens toy" Why the hell would they do that?
Avatar n tn mild enlargement LA: moderate enlargement. Pericaridum: normal (Note: Could this have occurred as a result or two arrests and 30 minutes of Code? A reaction to dye, combined allergens? Or did she have to walk into hospital with this conditions, as they seemed to indicate thru theory of acute myocarditis. Why was Xray done 2 hours earlier and last week clear of size change? Can size change occur as a result of something that happened in that Lab??
Avatar n tn So far the ENT's verdict seems to be that the ear and sinus infections are adding to the taste distortion, which combo is causing nausea and vertigo, and you get unable to eat, vomiting, and weight loss. The infections are "more likely than not" the same stuff I've been dealing with all along - a by product of the never ending cycle of infection I've had for two years now - only now caused by "on the low side" blood counts.
Avatar n tn Thank you for the kind words. Congratulations on the pregnancy! I'm guessing because of all the hormonal fluctuations, you may have had cravings that got away from you, eating sugars and stuff. That's understandable. The best thing to do would be to get back on your low/no carb plan after the baby's birth, or as close to the plan as you can. If you will be breastfeeding, you'll need more calories so keep that in mind as well.
Avatar f tn Is there a resource that I can go to? Is there a database? Or just us, la group of the effected? Thanks again for everything. Oh and when I would explain this to someone. What is the easiest most concise way to explain it? It so new to me!
Avatar n tn I still have bruises from some blood loss but the procedure was fairly quick and simple. I haven't heard back from my cardiologist as to how I will be monitored. I am hoping it will be with the MRI because the invasive approach of the aortogram(angiogram) is not my first choice.
Avatar f tn My son wants to be a liver donor and the closest facility to my location is Toulane in New Orleans, LA. But I ready that New York Presbyterian does laparoscopy transplants on some patients and this sounds really interesting. Not sure if they are doing adult to adult yet but I am going to check it out. My MELD is 11 right now and my CTP score is 6 so I am hanging in there and want to keep hanging in there. My GI said the largest problem is the Lupus factor and the unknown.

Avatar m tn In discussing with my DS, I find out the teacher did several things out of normal and the final could not be studied for. I am at a total loss. I don't feel this is right when it had such an impact and I feel her refusal to review his grades is unfair. I also feel that she failed to do review and giving them a test they could not prepare for is unfair. She will not budge. I feel more strongly about it somewhat because of her refusal to discuss. What would you do, if anything?
646318 tn?1261185094 Let's use these drugs when needed, but not as a first line defense (let's try diet/weight loss and exercise first) or because we think that someone *may* develop IR on treatment when in fact they are not.
Avatar f tn I want to give you a little credit. It sounds like a healthy thing to do. Embrace your emotions. Me, I have a tendency to do the "la de da," everythings ok...denial deal. There's a big price tag for this kind of attitude. Better to feel it , share it, and get through it. Your grief is real... jus' want you to know I respect your strength to deal with it now while it's happnin.' All the best...all the way to your Health and Good living.
Avatar m tn I am not associated with the medical profession however, I have read many, many papers and studies on the subject matter and, have had 4x CABG in July 2008. Once again in my lifetime I consider myself to be among the luckiest of lucky. My understanding is that everyone does not grow collateral arteries around their blockage. Furthermore, "Expert Reviews" suggests . . .
Avatar m tn I saw a post a few down whihc mentioned taht someone in LA had to go without tinofovir for a few weeks due to drug shortage... that worries me too... anything is possible and I have heard of some pretty nasty drug shortages recently... Thanks for any help and advice!
Avatar f tn Benadryl is also something of an anti-emetic, and can be given at 1 mg per pound of the dog's weight, but I doubt it will be very effective in the face of this kind of vomiting. Worth a try though. Another thing that helps is calcium - lots of it. I was giving Chica 2 Tums a day during her last couple of months. The calcium binds to phosphorus which is deadly to those in renal failure.
Avatar n tn well there has to be something but when you get like a lotta air or whatever around there air can just sometimes go in there (that spot lol) but thats when that starts making a gas-like sound but you haven;'t went to the doctor since then?
Avatar n tn Great I am a size 1 now, but I destroyed my body possibly! I don't know if my weight loss has done this, does anyone have this issue associated with weight loss? Anyway, thank you all for listening. I originally had my endoscopy scheduled for Feb 28, that was before my HIDA scan results came back, my doctor told me to reschedule the test for sooner now that we still don't know what is happening. I will bring up possible SOD as that seems to be a similar pain to gall bladder.

Avatar n tn My assumption is weight gain and/or salt/water retention. When I exercise and lose some water weight I don't get this pain. I have a desk job and eat alot of salty foods and don't drink enough water- I'm curious what everyones habits are. 1) High salt diet? 2) Sedentary through day? 3) Recent weight gain (or have been overweight for years)? I'm guessing the weight pressure is what causes the pain specifically during long lapses of sleep.
