and adhere to the ICA diet that eliminated caffeine, acidic foods, spicy foods, tomatoes etc. L-Arginine was proven ineffective in IC but some people feel it works. In tems of preseciption agents, I usually start everyone out on a low dose of Elavil 10mg then increase slowly to 25-75mg as tolerated. Some patients respond to Atarax and others to Elmiron. I have a question from the opposite angle.. I had been told l- arginine would be of help releasing nitric oxide in the blood to help with male erection/orgasm ..however, that arginine shouldn't be taken by those with hsv1/2 because it can provoke an outbreak. Can you debunk this ? I would love to take arginine if it can help at all !
Is it safe to occasionally take Viagra if I also take L-Arginine? Are there are any potential contra indications in that Viagra should not be taken by a person who takes L-Arginine? If so, is the contraindication just for that day? In other words, would I be safe if I did not take L-Arginine on the day I took Viagra? Or, do I have to stop taking L-Arginine completely if I am going to occasionally take Viagra (i.e. take Viagra once a week)? Thank you for your response.
I just take a prenatal multivitamin by Nature Made that has DHA in it. It's nice because it's all in one capsule. I also take an extra folic acid also by nature made.

Yes. L-Arg\inine is used therapeutically up to 15 grams a day. It is a systemic vasodilator and opens up microcirculation, which increases body capacitance and reduces blood pressure. Excellent for diabetic neuropathy as well. Many people take it four or five times per day in small doses. Purchase the L-Arginine in quantity (at health food stores), rather than in capsules and you will save a lot of money.

I take a multi vitamin as well as L-Arginine, Zinc and Saw Palmetto. I was wondering if anyone has any concrete evidence that the L-Arginine especially has any negative effects on my condition (causes/exacerbates) breakouts etc. I also currently use vitamin E liquid topically and have been trying to live as healthy a life style as possible. I like taking the L-arginine for the muscle building properties but I am willing to stop taking it if it makes my HPV worse.
