Common Questions and Answers about Knee support karate

knee

Avatar m tn I work in a convenience store and have to kneel down to get into certain places so I feel this pain every time I kneel on my left knee. The pain is the bottom of my knee cap on the left side of my left knee. I did karate for years and I do not know if it is an injury I didn't know I had that is just acting up now.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm and 18 year old girl and have undiagnosed knee, hip and back problems. When I'm doing stances in karate sometimes one or both knees will just not bend past some random point. I can't bend them and my instructor can't. He got down and pulled pretty hard on my lower leg and my knee didn't move at all. It doesn't hurt when it happens it is just frustrating. Any ideas on what might be going on would be great and very much appreciated.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm 16 and for 3 years now I have had knee problems. I have had x-rays, 2 MRI's and 2 sets of blood tests. I have seen my doctor, 2 orthopedic specialists, and a rheumatologist. I went to physical therapy for a few months 2 years ago. They said I had flat feet and gave me orthotics. The second orthopedic specialist said I had adolescent anterior knee pain and there was nothing he could do for me. A few weeks ago I went to the rheumatologist and he diagnosed me with bursitis.
Avatar f tn In the past 3 weeks I have attended Karate with my children and practiced round kicks which have given me a similar pain in my shin when balancing on the Left leg. This week I have felt an ache in my shin after walking, then since Karate this past Thursday I have had a constant pain in my shin. this eases a little with rest but does not completely go. my left ankle and shin is at least 1 inch wider than the right (tape measure round limb).
1308443 tn?1302693321 I am doing exercise I found online and wearing knee braces during karate. Nothing seems to help. The doctors keep telling me sorry just wait I out take 4 advil when they hurt. That doesn't help at all. Is there something else I should do or suggest to the doctors?
Avatar f tn I will be doing a lot of traveling this summer, lots of airports; does an orthopaedic boot support both knee and ankle? I use Voltaren gel and take Tramadol twice a day.
1308443 tn?1302693321 Hi am almost 16 (4 days away) and I've had knee problems for 2.5 years the doc told there is nothing I can do just wait it out. A year and a half ago he said it would be over by the time I was 16. I went back again in september and he told me maybe another year or so. This has become really frustrating because they seem to be getting worse. Has anyone else had this problem? How should I go about treating it?
1308443 tn?1302693321 2 years ago I started having knee problems. I have had an MRI and lots of x rays. I have seen an orthopedic surgeon twice. He told me that the cartilage on the back of my knee caps is soft and there is nothing he could do for me. He said it was common in teen girls. My knees don't seem to be getting better like he told me they would. Is there anything I can do to help them? I can't remember what my knees look like not swollen. I feel helpless.
Avatar f tn Well she won't need karate classes cause she seems to know how to do all the jabs and kicks that can be taught. Feels that way anyways. Anyone else get kicked or jab bad enough to make u wanna puke???
Avatar f tn I'm 28 years old, currently very active at the gym (kickboxing) and watching my diet. I've been having constant muscle twitching under my left knee towards my shin for about two weeks now. It's a sharp twitch, but with no pain. I can feel the twitch, but you can't see it. It happens when I walk, put force on my left leg or move it a certain way. There is no tingling or numbing, just the constant snapping twitch when active.
Avatar m tn I never experienced this problem before. I use to participate in karate lessons which requires me to have a certain stance and my legs were fine. No one in my family also suffers from this. Any ideas or help what this might be? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am not sure why I am writing down all this. I guess I am looking for some support. It's been almost 5 months now since my high risk exposure. The anxiety gets worse and worse, so I finally decided to go back to my home country to do the final test. I've been tested negative after one week and 39 days. It didn't really give me much relieve. rather the opposite: I got so anxious that I couldn't go to a further test.
480331 tn?1310403529 I never thought anything of it, until an occupational therapist mentioned that it is very bad for their hip and knee joints. She said it was also a sensory issue. I researched on the internet, and the consensus is mixed. Half agree that it's harmful, others say it is simply easier for them to balance themselves that way while sitting. Now that it's been brought to my attention, I tell him to sit differently, but he always goes back in the W position. Has anyone experienced this??
Avatar m tn Because of the atrophy in my leg, I will have to wear a brace for the rest of my life and this brace seems to be the one that gives me the most support. I hope your knee is better and you do not have to wear a brace indefinitely but if you do, I recommend the Donjoy Defiance III. It is a custom fitted brace. Your doctor should be able to help. Best wishes to you and stay positive. You'll be fine...
Avatar m tn ( I state that because at this point no one seems to be able to offer any answers). I used to be very active (biking, running, karate) and now I cannot run at all as my right leg is so weak i cannot get it to my chest..Karate..well forget about that..and biking is a challenge. I am hoping someone here might read this and it will strike a chord..something..anything. Thanks for the time....sorry this was so long.
Avatar n tn My 8 year old son was admitted to casualty 4 weeks ago unable to walk describing pain in his ankle and knee. Following a blood test and initial observation he was treated for reactive arthritis. 4 days later following a subsequent bloodtest, mri scan and observation he was diagnosed with osteomyelitis with the source of the infection thought to be either an earlier infected cut in his heel (3 months earlier treated with antibiotics prescribed by our gp) or excema he has around his ankle.
Avatar f tn I didn't feel any movements until I was 19 weeks & at first it was just flutters & then now its like karate chops lol
1378884 tn?1315505845 I have broken both knee caps in the past, (car accident and Karate Class) had a meniscus tear repaired, which made left knee much worse. Hands and feet are fine. Usually wake up fine ( as fine as a 55 year old can be) and by the end of day or frequent use (walking/weight lifting) I am in extreme pain and no flexibility. My Doc had me try some Celebrex which took the edge off the pain and allowed me to be more active but I was far from pain free. Going in for an MRI.
Avatar f tn See your chiropractor, seriously, I have a knee that does that, he works on it and it is fine. In the mean time, try wearing a knee brace to give it support.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I know that karate is probably a bad idea but I tape it and try not to hit with it. Any idea on what to do to help it heal?
1746651 tn?1311528836 My son is ten years old. Last March he injured his knee at school and I took him for xrays. Nothing was broken but a few days later, I got a call saying his femur had sclerotic bone growth. He went to an orthopedics doctor and after examining his legs and xrays, she told me both of his femurs have the same growth pattern. He had been having "growing pains" for the last two, maybe three years.
209384 tn?1231168306 I TRY TO KEEP HIM AS BUSY AS POSS BUT HE HAS BEEN A EMOTIONAL ROLLACOASTER SO I HAD TO STOP HIS KARATE CLASSES SO WE COULD JUST GET HOMEWORK DONE.
7038445 tn?1391720197 I just started feeling movements more and more (20w 3d). Now when I wake up in the middle of the night I can feel her moving around! Its the most amazing feeling and I wait to feel her alllll day! They are not karate chops yet, just "fluttering". When did everyone start feeling their little one move around??
Avatar m tn The past 2-3 weeks i was playing karate so my whole body landed on my thumb and the next 2 days my thumb was larger than its size as long as i dont move it i kee it straight it dont hurts when i move it back and forth it starts hurting me and when i push it it starts hurting me so do u think it is broken or swollen
1981227 tn?1336328438 Hi There, Sorry I have been so quiet!! Have been enjoying some relapse free days!! So from my last post, it turns out the leg spasms and weakness was likely a relapse. This was back in early March. I was working alot on our new house and I think that and the fact that I was off medication for a few months (the switch from copaxone to rebif took a few months) resulted in the attack. When I went for my Drs appointment with the neuro in April, he noted some weakness on my left leg.
