627388 tn?1222198212 Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.
Avatar f tn I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!
582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.
1264955 tn?1381782221 Has anybody here been to the neurology clinic at the Mayo or in their inpatient pain treatment program?
Avatar m tn There is a Mayo Clinic in Florida that may be a good contact. The Mayo Clinic in Minn. has very good surgeons with probably the best care and success record of any other hospital with possible the exception of the Cleveland Clinic. I wish you well going forward. Take care. .
Avatar n tn I'm sorry to hear that your brother is having so many problems. I can relate to shoulder problems as I had a shoulder replacement done a little over a year ago. I personally did very well right after the surgery, but have been having increasing problems with pain and limited range of motion in the past couple of months so will be returning to the surgeon who did the surgery to see what he has to say.
Avatar f tn For some insight, mitral regurgitation from mitral valve prolapse is the most common reason for surgical treatment. Mitral valve prolapse occurs when the leaflets and supporting cords of the mitral valve have excess tissue, and they weaken. With each contraction of the left ventricle, the valve leaflets bulge (prolapse) into the left atrium. This common heart defect may prevent the mitral valve from closing tightly and lead to regurgitation. Mitral valve prolapse is common.
Avatar n tn s longivity, and two valves can be done at the same time. You should contact the Cleveland Clinic or the Mayo Clinic, Rochester for costs and more information regarding prognosis. Mitral valve stenosis will cause an enlarged left atrium. Thanks for your questions. I wish you well going forward, take care.
553283 tn?1409694311 Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic are obviously both top-flight medical centers, so the choice between the two would not be so much "which is better, Cleveland or Mayo;" it would be which one has a doctor or program that is more specialized to what you need.
Avatar n tn Pain in the knee after total knee replacement can occur due to knee infection or loosening, resurfaced patella, with effusion in the joint occuring due to worn out polyethylene components, due to damage to the vessels and nerves around the knee etc. In case of infection antibiotics would help. In case of worn out polyethylene components may be reoperation could be considered. Also you mentioned that a cyst is present in the knee area, this could have been the cause of pain in the knee.
Avatar n tn You may want to contact the Cleveland Hospital or the Mayo Clinic for information. Also the link provided may be of some help. Thanks for your question. http://www.medhelp.
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
Avatar m tn Truthfully, I've heard one of the best MS Clinics in the US is the Mellen Center at Cleveland Clinic. You might try checking out http://www.mscare.org They list all the clinics available, etc. My neuro said the clinic at Cincinatti isn't that great but thinks Cleveland Clinic is really good. I've never heard of the Mayo Clinic being highly rated for MS, but more for heart desease.
Avatar n tn that would indicate about 5 years of successful experience...Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have qualified surgeons and very good hospital ratings. Usually with MVR the leaflets do not properly close due to calcification or chordae tendae is elongated (chord that attaches to leaflet and muscle wall). And/or the annulus (valve opening) is enlarged.
Avatar f tn my acl had ripped during physical therapy so i had acl replacement on oct. 23 of 07. Ever since then i have had the worse knee pain ever. i can't walk in the morning, severe pain unless i have at least 2 norcos. I don't have insurance but i have paid for a reavulation at the same physical therapy place i went to and they told me that i needed to go to pain management and more surgery for knee replacement. i'm only 18....
Avatar m tn But if the area between the aneurysm and the renal arteries is too slight for a conventional commercially-made ordinary stent, then you need to go to Cleveland Clinic (which uses commercially made fenestrated stents from Australia), Mayo Clinic (surgeon-modified stents), Emory in Atlanta (talk to Dr. Ricotta, from Mayo, adept at what they call surgeon modified "fenestrated" stents, or to the University of California, San Francisco.
766430 tn?1234745270 I am being seen by a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic, Jax, FL and have also had a consult with a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, for my own peace of mind. I have been told by both doctors that now is not the time for surgery, as "the risks of surgery outweigh the risks of waiting" for now. I feel like they are watching me closely - I have had an Echo and 2 MRIs (6 months apart) to establish some history and to determine if there has been any growth. The 2nd MRI showed no increase.
Avatar m tn So instead he wants to preform a microfracture and if it fails move onto knee replacement. He also feels I am not a canidate for any cartilage repair surgery because of the kissing lesions. I feel I have more damage on the tibia too because I have lots of pain below my knee cap and in my lower joint line behind my knee.
1246614 tn?1268684275 It is very difficult and may not be possible to return the heart to normal. A valve surgeon at the Mayo Clinic states the biggest problem he faces it the patient that has waited too long. Has your left ventricle enlarged? Is your EF 55% or above? You may want to talk to a surgeon. Better time to select while somewhat healthy than wait.
Avatar f tn I decided that I should travel to the United States and hopefully get a diagnosis. I know that Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have a good dysautonomia clinics but I don't know which one should I choose so I would appreciate any suggestions !!! Also I know healthcare in the US is so expensive and since I don't have insurance I wonder how much such a visit to one of those hospitals will roughly cost ?I know it's hard to tell but I'm asking for a roughly cost. Thanks.
Avatar n tn He also had quadruple bypass surgery and a reaction to statin drugs. Mayo clinic in Rochester was where he went for a second opinion. I highly suggest going to the top (Mayo) if you can travel. Our hospital here was tellling him it was his heart and he needed a defribulator. Mayo found out his heart was perfectly fine and it was his lungs. Get a second opinon.
Avatar m tn The arthritis had set in to my left hip, but the pain was spread to my left knee?? doc said the hip replacement would more than likely take care of the knee pain. At first (in the second week after) the pain wasn't so bad in the knee, but the pain came back shortly after that and isn't getting better. I was referred to a Pain management clinic here in Ohio and was prescribe (perkocet) physical therapy.
Avatar n tn After knee replacement surgery done in June 2010 and is still swollen and painful. I cannot walk properly with out pain as was promised.
Avatar n tn Have you tried a pain management clinic?
Avatar m tn I recently was hospitalized with Endocarditis, the offending bacteria being Streptococcus gordii. I also have MVP in the 3+ range. I am currently about 1/4 of the way through 4 weeks of Rocephin IV's. MY TTE showed either a vegetation or a ruptured chorda tendinea on the posterior mitral valve leaflet, and normal left ventricular function.Upon having a TEE, vegetations were observed on the posterior valve leaflet.
