Hi,
My Student Industrial Team and I have come up with a device that relieves knee pain for those with runner's knee and the elderly as well. It utilizes pressure plates on the sides of the knee that help to stabilize and decrease the pain. What's your take?
I'm considering Prolozone for knee OA and can't get off the fence, for fear it will not work for me......I did 2 series of dextrose Prolo in this knee and it didn't work.....PRP and Stem Cells are out of reach in my pocketbook.
I do NOT want knee surgery of any kind.....
Hi I'm 20 years old and have been suffering from degenerative arthritis I my left knee due to injuries for quite some time now. I've had two major tear surgeries(acl and dual meniscus and mcl tears), it's been drained and I have gone through cortisone injections. Also according to a recent mri I have severe cartilage/bone loss. Now because if all this and the fact that I can't run, dance, our even walk without it giving out my dr wants me to get a knee replacement.
Thank you for the information on the knee replacement. I had a shoulder replacement a little over a year ago and I believe I'm in for a revision/second surgery on it very soon. Recently I've been having intense, severe pain and loss of mobility in the shoulder that, in some respects, is worse than before the surgery.
51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months. Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing. I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this? Is my doctor on the right track? Maybe I have meniscus tears??? It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working. Help!! Also, I have had xrays only. Shows no arthritis. In both knees, although one is worse than the other.
My mom recently had knee replacement on 6/8/19. (She had both hip replacement in 2010 previously)Can she have MR and tomography? She started having severe hip(both) aches after her right knee surgery. Especially when she moves or walks, she says her both bottoms(where she sits), sometimes hips are hurting so much. Does she need to have MRI or tomography and can she use MRI or tomography with her replacements?
THE DOCTER SAID I WOULDNT BE ABLE TO GET A KNEE REPLACEMENT TILL IM IN MY 50,S WHY IS THIS?? i have had ( d.v.t.) for 8 yrs had a pulmonary embolism in 2000..am on coumadin for life!! If the pain comes on bending the knee, then it could be due to Patellofemoral syndrome or runners knee. This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained while playing), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint.
5 months ago I had bilateral knee replacement, I am having sharp pain behind my right knee. This started about one month back. It usually only happens when i am laying down, but now is happenning when I am sitting. The pain is very sharp wakes me up.Other than this pain I am doing great, but i just want to know if this is just part of the healing process or is there a problem?
Ok, after reading all the negative comments about knee replacement on this site, I have just about decided not to have the surgery done. Is there anyone out there that has had success in this and would like to share? I need some positive feedback, please.
I had a total knee replacement done over 14 weeks ago and still have quite a bit discomfort. My knee down to my ankle will swell and I get a burning sensation that will last for hours. I have been to the doctors several times and i am being told that this is normal and could last up to 1 year. I had the other knee replaced and didn't have anywhere near the pain I am having with this knee.
I can move them around with my finger. It is right on my knee cap. I have had runners knee and had a few falls on my knee in my life. It does not hurt that bad unless I stand or walk for a while. Im assuming its loose bodies/cartilage but im not sure if you can have those by the surface of your skin above the kneecap? What do you think this is and should I see a doctor for treatment? I hope this makes sense!
I have looked into ACI and OATS procedures but I am not sure how successful those procedures are and I am wondering if I would be a good candidate for a partial or total knee replacement and get this over with once and for all.

I had a knee replacement 5 months ago and I am allergic to nickel. Now this knee needs to be taken out and replaced! Is the Oxinium knee nickel free? I am very sick from this and need help quick!

I had been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in the left knee and beginning in the right knee four years ago. I was told that I was bone on bone in the left knee. Since I was only 50 years old the doctor said that I was too young for surgery. Four years later, 1 less thyroid, additional weight, I have been told I am too fat and I need to get my BMI down before they would consider.
I HAD KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY 9 WEEKS AGO. THE PAIN IS SO INTENSE. THE ONLY TIME IT SEEMS NOT TO HURT IS IF I CAN SLEEP.
I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY PILLS ALL THE TIME FOR PAIN. I JUST AM BESIDE MYSELF. I ASKED THE DR AT MY POST OP AND HE STATES THIS IS NORMAL.. MY KNEE ALSO CLICKS SOMETIMES. HE STATES THIS IS NORMAL TOO.

I have been running 3 miles a day fro 3x a week, until recently because i have been experiencing really aching pain in my knee and if i keep running it becomes really painful like i have torn something, and sometimes my knee gives way too, if i stop running and walk the pain wears off for a while, i have had an 6-8 week rest, but it still hurts when i try to bend my knee, it pulls really tight and hurts, haven`t tried running fully yet, sometimes the knee hurts really bad , it hurts in the back
We agreed and although I had deal with constant pain and had the knee drained dozens of times from 1971 to 1990 I had somewhat normal mobility
In 1990 I had knee recostruction and has worked out well for 16 years ( although now I finally need the knee replacement ) My question is this--If they had gone ahead with the fusion would they have been able to do the ACL / Ligament reconstruction and this knee replacement surgery????
If No I am so glad I took my chances.
