Avatar f tn When I was a freshman in highschool I had seen a Doctor about my knee problem, and was tolded that my knee caps were making new knee jionts by themselves. They had done surgery on my right knee. I was wondering what the medical name was for this type of knee problem.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. I have had chronic knee problems starting in my freshman year of high school (4 years ago), when my knee cap shifted out of place almost an inch. I did 2 rounds of physical therapy which helped my knee get back into place. A few weeks later I fell on it very hard, against the side of the bath tub, and it caused me to pull my siatic nerve. My bad knee and whole leg went numb for about 2 months.
Avatar f tn I'm 17, and I've had knee pain in my right knee as long as I can remember. it is usually happens after standing/walking for long periods of time. Ive been to my doctor and to an orthopedic doctor, and they don't know what it is. I've gone through many xrays, and the only thing they found was a small, thin line going across my kneecap, but they said that it was nothing to worry about.
Avatar f tn I went through Physical Therapy and my pain was very minimal (have always had slight knee pain) for about two months before I started having the problems again. Turns out I have Tendonitis again, but no one can answer why I keep getting it(I am not an athlete I am 21 years old and I work in a retail store in Customer Service and my latest visit was to an Orthopedic Specialist) and what else I can do besides Physical Therapy to stop these issues.
Avatar f tn The bone scan showed activity and inflammation in my knee and ankle. The PA I went to told me that it is tendonitis in my knee with referred pain. I just want to be sure. I only feel pain in my knee when I'm actually running. After I'm done running, the pain is localized in my tibia. Has anyone experienced something similar? It is actually patellar tendonitis? It just seems weird to me that a injury in my knee doesn't really hurt my knee that much but severly hurts my shins...
888841 tn?1242516603 Ok... my knee is killing me and for the life of ,me i cant figure out why Im having severe pain , where I cant walk nor lift my leg properly. This just started like three days ago and it hasnt been getting any better. The weird thing is I dont remember hitting it up in the past week, ive only been walking on the treadmill.... What could be causing this awful pain? I cant think I have the BIG A and im only 23... Any ideas?
Avatar f tn During the episode of pain if you use crutches then it is important not to do any weight bearing on the affected knee. You can apply ice packs when your knee is painful, after physical activity as this reduces your pain and inflammation. Resting from aggravating activities such as running and jogging allows time for recovery and healing. You should also practice stretching activities. You should consider physiotherapy to strengthen your quadriceps and hamstrings.
Avatar f tn Several times recently, he has been in a reclining position, and while his leg is still, he has a sharp, shooting pain radiate down his leg. He mentions that is it quite painful. I do believe he has some knee problems, but none have ever been diagnosed. It shoots from his knee down toward his foot, and at very random times. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn This can be due to tendonitis, bursitis, stiff knee, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis or due to popliteal cysts. It is difficult to diagnose on net. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
Avatar m tn thought I hyperexteneded my knee but now synvisc 1 shot may be the culprit. Waiting for xray results, wearing knee brace. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I have had tendonitis in my knee for slightly more than a month during the summer and had gone for physical therapy in August & part of September. My physical therapists got the swelling in my knee down enough to be not seen or felt with sonagrams and stretching excersizes. Now I'm "recovering" but it does't feel like it. I feel pain radiating down the side of my right leg when I'm sitting and sometimes when I'm walking.
Avatar f tn My pt has told me he thinks my lack of estension which is about 15 degrees is due to my tight hamstrings and soft tissue problems(tendonitis), but my dr. wants to try a manipulation then cast me to get my extension back. I've been doing some research on the M.U.A. and it seeems like everyone has had flexion problems after tkr not extension from meniscus and tendon problems. I got a 2nd opinion and the dr. wanted to do a posterior capsular release which is even more invasive.
Avatar m tn I am a cheerleader and I had a competition yesterday and I was tumbling and my knee gave out on me and then a couple hours later my knee was getting sharp pains and I looked down and my whole knee was purple and blue. I was just wondering if this is normal with tendonitis and the patella femoral syndrome?
Avatar m tn I was walking with a walker 3 days later, The pain is worse in the morning after getting up. I have never had knee or fluid retention problems. A second opinion is difficult as I live in a remote area of Thailand. It sems that quite a few peolpe experience this problem after hip surgery with no definite explanation of the cause.
Avatar f tn I just noticed that my knee felt bruised when I was leaving work today and I didn't hit it on anything. I looked at it and it is a bit swollen on top of the kneecap. It is red on the top and a couple spots around the kneecap. Also it seems there may be a pocket of fluid on top of the kneecap. It is also warm to the touch. Does any one know what this could be?
Avatar n tn When it gets inflamed due to overuse or injury it is called as tendonitis. There are different types of tendonitis like wrist tendonitis, knee tendonitis etc. According to the types of tendonitis, the treatment varies. But in general conservative measures including resting the area (avoid using during pain episodes) and ice application will help control inflammation and reduce swelling.
Avatar m tn The foremost reasons behind knee suffering in affected individuals experiencing damage, might be the split ligaments, tendonitis or torn mensicus. Bone injuries can cause extreme problems in the knee also, and the most typical factors that cause this are impact trauma and road accidents. Well, see you later.
Avatar f tn Just below the knee of my left leg I get severe pain that causes me to almost have it go out from under me. It comes and goes, but lately its more often. It does not involve the joint itself, it is the very top of thelower leg on the front. It is not swollen, noris it red. I have fallen on the ice a couple years ago striking that leg on the edge of a porch step in that area. I am 150 pounds over weight which I am sure aggrivates it.
Avatar f tn This is probably not related to sciatica at all. It could simply be tendonitis, or a mild irritation of the posterior capsule of the knee. It could aso be a Baker's cyst, which is a collection of fluid from the knee, which herniates and collects in a "sac" behind the knee. Worst scenario is a deep vein thrombosis, DVT or blood clot, ehich can be very serious. Therefore, if it persists, you should see a doctor.
604489 tn?1220023514 I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and illiotibial band tendonitis. Do you exercise or run? If so, it could be ITB tendonitis.
Avatar n tn I fell hard on my kneecaps directly on tile and MRI showed patella Tendonitis and Chondromalacia. Does anyone know any treatments except NASIDS , COLD PACK AND REST?
1393879 tn?1288725449 Another reason is rheumatoid arthritis but this has been ruled out in your case. Tendonitis or bursitis of the joint too produces similar symptoms. In the knee joint an injury to menisci can be the culprit. It can also be a muscle injury locking the knee. Generally conservative treatment should help. Anti-inflammatory drugs, alternate hot and cold fomentation should help. Maybe you should get a MRI of the knee joint. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have had tendonitis in my feet, my knee, my elbow and now my wrist. What is spasticity? I take baclofen. What else can I do?
Avatar n tn Sometimes you have surgery and bursitis or tendonitis sets in , most of the time a MRI and a EMG can tell you if you have nerve damage and muscle weakness.
