1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm a 17 year old girl and have had bilateral knee problems for 3.5 years and despite lots of doctors visits I still have no diagnosis. I have learned that I overpronate and I'm very flat footed. MRIs and blood work is normal. This weekend my right knee began to have pain at the top of my knee cap. It feels like it is stuck on the pop. I can still get my knee to pop but it still feels like it is stuck on another pop.
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic knee pain. I am 16 years old (nearly 17) I have tried lots of things which are physiotherapy, exercise, ice, been visiting an exercise physiologist, visited a podiatrist and received orthotics. Found out that these orthotics didn't work, so got new orthotics. However I still get chronic knee pain. Currently I would say that it is 7.5/10. I am sick of this. hat can i do?
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm a 15 year old girl and when I was 13 I began to have knee problems. I had X-rays blood tests and an MRI. I went to 2 orthopedic surgeons and physical therapy. During pt they had no idea what was wrong with my knees. I was given orthotics and told my toes turned out. I went for about 6 months with no improvement. That's when we saw the second ortho. He told me I had chondromalacia patella. That was about a year ago. My knees have gotten much worse since then.
Avatar f tn I wear orthotics in my cross trainers for exercising (I have low arches, that were causing knee pain). I wore them for about a year, and then I stopped exercising for about a year. I started exercising again, and at first the orthotics felt ok, the arch felt a little high, but after some jumping exercising I did one day, my ankles hurt. I'm not heavy, and I'm only 35. The pain is in the inner part of the ankles, toward the Achilles tendon.
Avatar f tn After my knee surgery I was still having pain. I told my physio that maybe orthotics would help lift my leg and help. Guess what? They worked! Only in summer when I walk barefoot for weeks do I get the pain again. So I tend to wear them all year round. Feels funny when I wear evening shoes and no orthotics! But they really do help knee pain. Maybe you could try these things? Cheers!
Avatar f tn How do you determine if one leg is shorter than other and could it be the reason for my right leg/foot and knee problems? I have had posterior tibilis dysfunction in right foot and neuromas as well as osteoarthritis, now torn cartilege in right knee and hip pain.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm 16 and for 3 years now I have had knee problems. I have had x-rays, 2 MRI's and 2 sets of blood tests. I have seen my doctor, 2 orthopedic specialists, and a rheumatologist. I went to physical therapy for a few months 2 years ago. They said I had flat feet and gave me orthotics. The second orthopedic specialist said I had adolescent anterior knee pain and there was nothing he could do for me. A few weeks ago I went to the rheumatologist and he diagnosed me with bursitis.
314554 tn?1337454119 s Neuromas on both of my feet about year ago. He made my orthotics and I wear ShockDoctor orthotics in some of my other shoes. At one time, I had several knee and tibia "injuries" that were biomechanical in nature from overtraining on the stairmaster and the occasional use/misuse of sports performance & pain meds (no longer use).
Avatar f tn I already have orthotics which may also help me. I do wear the orthotics with a stability shoe (for mild overpronation), is this over doing it? I'm also wondering if this combo could be a factor? It seems this is a somewhat early stage that I'm catching it. Does it seem like this is something I might be able to treat and still run? What has been your experience?
Avatar n tn My husband was fitted with orthotics and he finds them very uncomfortable and has decided not to wear them in his shoes. Is it possible that the orthotics were made wrong or do you have a better idea?
Avatar f tn ve had x-rays, electromyleograms, taken gout rx, 2 different prs of orthotics and still no help. the left foot big toe joint gets these intensly shooting pains and worsens if I flex the toe. I take lyrica with no relief (150mgs 2-3 times daily). Told I have fibromyalgia.which I think is just a term for "no idea what is wrong with you". My sister was recently dx with MS, her only symptom was leg pain. Could I be developing MS like Montel Williams?
Avatar m tn I would suggest you to wear proper foot wear and discuss with your orthopedician for use of braces, knee sleeves, arch supports and custom orthotics if these will help you. You can have arthritis at young age and when the joint cartilage is lost then you would need total knee replacement. Take care!
Avatar n tn He has some coordination/neck/posture problems--none are normal, but not severe enough to seem like a severe problem. What do you think?
Avatar m tn He said no lets see how the new softer orthotics work. My feet were not this sore 2 weeks ago. I am waiting for new orthotics, but I am not convinced they will work and the pain gets worse every day.
Avatar f tn The decision of conservative treatment is taken by an Orthopedician after taking into consideration your age and the amount of physical activity you are involved. Treatment is by below knee walking plaster cast for 3 weeks for Jones and 4 weeks for other kinds of non displaced fractures of your metatarsals. For displaced fractures you may need manipulation and immobilisation in plaster cast. As you have passed 8 weeks with no further healing you can explore options for surgical repair.
888841 tn?1242516603 They may also apply a support strap, a knee brace, or custom orthotics. It will depend on your physician and the severity of the tendonitis. If it is resistant to the above measures sometimes a burst of oral steroids are prescribed. I do not know if you have the above mentioned conditions. You may have strained your knee or the support structures surrounding it. A strain is also painful. I suggest that you begin resting the area.
1760800 tn?1406753451 Thanks for the update. I sure hope the VA springs for me to get one soon. And it is nice to hear that it is working so good for you. I agree that you should probably look into getting the thigh unit as well. I already have knee damage which is the reasons the VA couldn't just change my AFO type to solve my current problems.
Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm 16 and for 2 years I have worn the same orthotics because I have flat feet. When I walk my feet roll in and they point out really bad. Last Monday I didn't wear my orthotics because I wore sandals. I can usually go a day without them but by 2 right foot hurt really bad. So I put in my orthotics because that has always helped before but this time it didn't. It is hurting worse now. The pain is on the bottom of my foot right in my arch.
Avatar n tn Recently, I was prescribed orthotics (I've worn them for years, this was a new pair), and the lady who made them added what seems like a high arch. They have been causing my posterior tibial tendons to flare up, and the only relief I get is from removing them. She insists I need this support, but my other orthotics from years past have not had such a high arch, etc. I have a leg length difference, and had to convince her to put a lift on one side.
Avatar n tn Podiatrist feels ankle pain is attributed to compensation from the pain of the Plantar Fasciitis. I wear prescribed orthotics. The pain in the ankle area is horrendous when I'm working. With burning and sharp pain waves. I've tried forcibly walking with my foot straight, and my foot and leg feel as though I'm trying walk pigeon toed and the pain increases. Occasionally I will feel popping as though something is shifting.
1666982 tn?1445198395 When I was 14 I went to a Orthopedist to have him help with my knee pain. He wanted me to have shoes made to help with the problem, but did not have the money to get corrective shoes. I now have Osteoarthritis in both knees. I think it would have helped to get them because now I have a lot of arthritis pain in my low back, hips and knees. My orthotics I have now help some.
Avatar n tn 4 years ago a podiatrist removed a neuroma from my left foot, pain continued even tho orthotics were used and adjusted periodically. 5 months ago surgery was performed by orthopaedic surgeon, nerve endings from first surgery were not buried and cauliflowered, these were cut and buried, pain began again one month ago, I have flare ups with severe pain as I flex or re-flex my toes, burning and stabbing pain to a point where I cannot walk.
Avatar f tn the foot problem you describe is how my spascisity started in my feet, i now have bilateral spastic foot drop, my hands hurt and cramp alot with some muscle wasting, get the doc to refer you to a podiatrist to assess your lower limbs for muscle wasting, I left it too long and wear orthotics now for foot , ankle and knee. these things can be sorted when caught soon enough. also do you have flat feet ,or high arch?
Avatar m tn Try to go for a post diagnostic scan. If everything is alright continue your physiotherapy and with time you will gain strength and functions. If there is a defect may be you would need another procedure for reduction. Take care!
Avatar m tn i have arthritus in my left knee cervic spine and bulging discs,i also have severe pain in both my elbows which result in my fingers becoming deformed and locking, then i get a bad headache, any ideas.
