Avatar f tn Back when I was a kid, I hurt my right knee pretty hard. Went to the doctors, as the "swelling" wasn't receding, and was diagnosed with exostosis. Had surgery to remove the ostheocondroma at the age of 13, which resided on the inner part of right knee. Around 20, it started bothering me again.
Avatar n tn I herniated my back in 2003, immediately had a drop foot, had surgery not long after for herniation of L5-S1 area, right after the surgery after I went home I had to be rushed to emergency room, because the pain running down my leg and foot was unbareable.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?
Avatar f tn t put much thought into it until recently. I know the pain in my knee started after running far distances, but it was also the same time I started sitting at a desk for 8 hrs straight every day. I also realized that the pain got better or worse depending on which chair I sat in and also when I was away from work for days at a time.

Avatar m tn for the last four years I have been experiencing sharp pain on the outside of my right knee starting usually after running about 3 miles. no pain when I am not running. It comes on gradually but I eventually need to stop running. The pain is located in the vicinity of the lateral meniscus and is most intense when my foot is off the ground and my leg moving forward. I have had no major injury to this knee. What is going on? is there anything I can do?
Avatar m tn I am a police officer 7 months from ACl reconstruction surgery with cadaver ligament. Everything was going great until month 5 when I started to slowly jog for very short distances (half mile increment to 1.5 mile). I felt severe medial pain in the tibia (surgery entrance area). I stopped running and decreased all other activity and ice more frequently. I could walk again w/o pain 2 weeks later.
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar m tn About 4 years ago I broke both my tib and fib. I had a rod put into my fib along with 2 screws on the bottom and 1 on top. In November of 2007 I had the screws taken out. Here is my problem. Pain ,Pain , Pain. 4 years and no better> My doctor told me that the bone has healed well, as long as a second ortho, who said the same thing. Why such excruiating pain??? Firstly I have a vice-like pain after walking short distances, it is painful to the point that I come close to vomiting.
Avatar f tn I had asthma as a child, then it went away for a while and came back while I was in the Army. When I wasn't having problems with asthma, I could run pretty fast over long distances. Now, I'm not so fast...I'm pretty much a turtle, though I can run for long distances. I don't seem to be getting much faster, even though I have a solid training plan. Does anyone know whether asthma can affect running performance even if there are no obvious breathing problems?
Avatar n tn t even run for 2-3 minutes without having shortness of breath which blows up into an anxiety attack when I stop. I am in love with running and I feel like I physically cannot do it. The shortness of breath even comes on during rest. Has anyone else experienced this type of chronic shortness of breath that comes on very suddenly for an extended amount of time?
Avatar f tn m 36 weeks and 5 days, and early on this week I noticed that when I am walking sort-of long distances (over 5 minutes) I start to get pains and my stomach tightens, then when I stop it feels like a "bubble" in my bump. Like if you were to go running. My belly did drop sometime between Friday the 29th and Monday the 2nd. I haven't lost my mucus plug yet and no bloody show. I've been getting more braxton hicks, but no true contractions as far as I know.

Avatar f tn I get unbelievable pain from my knee down to my ankles when I jog. After about 40 minutes that pain is some what tolerable and I can jog for 4-5 minutes straight. For the rest of my day my ankles are sore. Does anybody have any idea what this is?
Avatar n tn I'm a 24 year old 120lb female who works out moderately. Almost a year ago when on a short run, I started feeling this sharp pain in my right knee towards the lower, outside area. I used to run track for years and never had any knee issues. It started out of no where and ever since, if I go on a run for longer than .75 mile, I get the same sharp pain again.
1470596 tn?1286713970 I had this problem and realised thanks to my physio, that I overpronated when running. This can cause knee problems which is why I needed to buy shoes with arch support which stops the foot rolling inwards. For walking you can buy orthotic insoles but I would not recommend running with these. I use Adistar Salvations to run. A good running shop will check you for pronation before you buy. Also this might seem obvious but are you stretching before and after running.

Avatar m tn Two months ago I suddenly found it difficult to walk long distances. I had noticed symptom of a pulling between right knee and lower back for about a year prior--mostly on waking--I sleep on my side--as well as arthritic feelings (tightness when initially walking after sitting a long time). But I still could walk long distances and ride my bike. What triggered the walking difficulty was when I tried to pick up my cat carrier with one hand.
Avatar m tn When I landed, i felt a sharp pain in the middle of my left knee. I did not feel any popping, just a very sharp pain right behidn the patella. I didn't think anything of it that day, and it never bruised or swelled. I laid off the knee for the remainder of the week, but when i started lifting the next week, anything that put stress on the knee hurt. Squats, Legpress, Deadlifts, they all hurt right at the middle of the knee behind the patella.
Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar m tn ve been running with no knee pain. I run on the dirt/grass, where others run on the hard cement. Time after again they would get knee injuries. I quit running in races because I could feel the difference in the hard surface on my legs running verus the dirt/grass. If it was me, since I love running, I would stay off the hard cement. Our joints aren't made for that hard pounding.
Avatar f tn I love to run as well. For long, long distances. I assume you are also aware of the other aspects of good health as well. Try to increase fluid intake by about 16oz/day for the next couple of months. Also remember to really pack your diet with yummy whole foods, grains, beans, olive oil, and foods high in healthy fats such avacados, walnuts, and sweet potatoes. Most important of all, you must, must, must try as hard as you can to get 8 hrs of sleep at night.
