1587585 tn?1309432260 If you hurt your knee doing side lunges, this may be a meniscal injury or to the MCL. Pain in the back of the knee may be local inflammation, or swelling. Continue the NSAID's, rest, and ice; if the pain persists, see an orthopedist.
Avatar f tn Lateral lunges, front lunges, half squats, leg press, lateral step ups, knee extension (90-40 degrees), hamstring curls, hip adduction and abduction, hip flexion and extension, toe raises, try all of these under an instructor. I would suggest you to apply ice packs regularly to decrease the pain and inflammation and take intermittent pain killers and go for an MRI and also a second opinion. Take care!
Avatar m tn A proper run or using the leg machines at the gym seems to make it even better, as well as doing lunges etc. But I still have the pain in those extreme positions (so I try to avoid them!). However, physical activities seem to be only a short term fix - as soon as I resume sitting then the stiffness problem returns. Using the hamstring curl machine seemed to help a lot, and prevented the stiffness for a few days, but then it returned.
Avatar f tn for the past few weeks i’ve had this pain in my right leg, it happens when i do certain movements, it’s happened during lunges and when i get up off the ground. it’s a tingling kind of electric shock? in a line going from my knee up my thigh. someone told me it could just be me growing or working too hard? but that’s not what it feels like to me but i’m not a doctor so what do i know.
Avatar n tn Then over the next week the knee started to get tighter and I started to to hear more popping and swelling around the knee. I also noticed that my IT band on the side of my knee will snap when I pivot or change directions. Over the past few days I had started to bike more and do some lunges and squats, stretches, etc. When i do this I notice that my quad that I hit is extremely weak and very sore.
Avatar n tn Calf pain seemed no worse at first, but I was noticing that plantar faciatis and muscles just North of my right knee were tight when I woke up. Also, I did some boating. All the wear I got on the calf caused it this Thursday to be worse than ever when I woke up.. I went to Dr Thursday August 4 to make sure I did not have a clot. Dr saw no clot and said I had Strained the calf and it needed time to heal up. 5. Friday I went to Y to sit in whirlpool and swim.
Avatar n tn Hello, About 6 months ago I started to do some running and after the first month or so started getting pain above my knee, so I stopped. Since then the pain hasn't gone away and I'm getting desperate now as nothing seems to work. The pain is at its worst when going down stairs, steep hills, or when I put weight on it such as in a lunge or squat. It's had periods of getting better then when I think I'm going to be pain free it always gets worse.
Avatar m tn About 5 weeks ago I was trying to do rapid-squats without any warm up (yes, stupid, I know), and got this really sharp pain in my right knee, kind of under the kneecap - in the muscle area of my right leg I've been trying to not run at all to aggravate it, and trying to keep it straight, but I'm still taking walks on it. The pain has gotten a lot better, and it's only painful when I squat, kneel or bend my legs (the least painful).
Avatar f tn But now, as of a few weeks ago, a different knee pain has occurred. The other pain behind the knee was gone (I had all of the symptoms of an ACL tear, but an MRI said nothing was wrong other than the previous damage from the MVA). Now the knee pain is so bad that I can barely walk, and have to walk keeping my leg straight, because it hurts so bad to lift it. And five days ago, now if I sit for too long, I can't straighten my leg again.
Avatar f tn s helped me quite a bit. Jumping jacks to get you started, squats, leg lifts, lunges and quick feet for thighs; planks, v-ups and bicycle crunches for belly and love handles. Then jog if the weather's nice and my mood agrees.
Avatar m tn hey just wondering when is the best time to work out the legs (squats and lunges)? I try to lift one day and run the next.. I have been doing them on my weight days but then sometimes my legs are too sore to run on my cardio days. Should i be doing squats lunges etc before or after my run instead?
Avatar f tn During the episode of pain if you use crutches then it is important not to do any weight bearing on the affected knee. You can apply ice packs when your knee is painful, after physical activity as this reduces your pain and inflammation. Resting from aggravating activities such as running and jogging allows time for recovery and healing. You should also practice stretching activities. You should consider physiotherapy to strengthen your quadriceps and hamstrings.

Avatar f tn Recently I’ve been going to the GP over hip/groin/knee pain; nothing came up on the hip X-ray and now I’m waiting for a letter from the hospital as I’ve been referred to a section there as we don’t know why it’s hurts. However recently, along with the leg and hip pain, the top of my backs been excruciating.
Panda Thank you for responding. Every Monday and Wednesday, I take "U-jam" and every Tuesday and Thursday, I take "Body Combat" Both classes are at 24 Hour Fitness. U-jam is a hip-hop class and Body Combat is a mixed martial arts class. They are group x classes and are great cardio that focus on HIIT (high intensity interval training). I used to take martial arts when I was in high school, so Body Combat and Turbo Kickboxing are right up my alley, next to any type of dance.
Avatar m tn Flex your leg at the knee, place your hands on your shin and start to pull your knee toward your chest until you feel tight. Start with the right leg and hold the stretched position for 20-30 seconds, then repeat with your left leg. 2-3 repetitions especially when you’re just starting out with stretching are plenty for this stretch.
245285 tn?1220498346 I would suggest you to apply ice packs on your knee joint 4-5 times a day till the pain and inflammation decreases. Take NSAIDs, rest and avoid weight bearing for couple of days. If your symptoms continue then I would suggest you to go for scans (X-rays and if required MRIs) to diagnose any bone or soft tissue damage. Always wear proper shoes and walk and exercise on suitable surfaces and avoid concrete and hard surfaces. Take care!
Avatar f tn I couldn't do lunges because it caused severe pain. Then a trainer showed me how to put my foot on a slippery disc and move it that way. Pain is gone.
Avatar f tn Recovery in the first few weeks was exceptionally fast, and I am mostly thrilled with the results -- I have great flexion, can sit back on my heels, and can descend stairs, jump up and down, and do lunges and squats to 90 degrees without sharp pain, though I generally have an 'awareness' and some soreness in my knees with these movements.
Avatar f tn Okay guys, over the past few years I lost about 50 pounds, I was 167lbs at age 14 and now i'm about 117-121 lbs (i fluxuate because I'm a cross country runner, so i eat a lot more down and my workouts vary depending on the team). Anyways, since i lost all this weight, my body has changed and i'm much thinner but sadly i still have some untone muscle and skin on my stomach and little flubber on my upper upper inner thighs.
Avatar n tn Recently I have had pain (scale 1-10, 8 to 9) when I put my left leg over right to put on socks. The pain starts in the upper part of my hip and radiates down leg. Left foot at times gets numb. I went to Orthopod and he xrayed hip and pelvis. Said hip and pelvis looks fine. He palpated my hip and buttock. I felt as if I were going through roof. He said it is sciatica and IT band and possible trochanter bursitis. He ordered 8 wks of Phys Therapy, twice a week.
Avatar f tn I am not surprised you have having pain and pressure after working out with squats and lunges. Some women can do lunges when instructed by a women physio therapist who can show you how to do them carefully within safe limits for you ( if this is possible for you to do safely) but without specific training with a womens physio I would not do any lunges or squats. Your body is telling you that doing this is not good for you operations/prolapses etc.
Avatar f tn I do alot of cardio to burn fat like jogging and walking. When should I start doing workout to tighten and tone my skin and muscles? (I know skin doesn't always tighten back up but I can tell my stomach is trying to tighten and lift) but. also , I want to build a little muscle and try to tighten up some in my arms. Should I use 2, 3, or 5 pound weights.
