I have had a really painful right knee under the knee cap,its gradually becoming worse when I kneel down or go up and downstairs(particular going upstairs) I have to hold the rail going up as the pain is really bad.my knee does give way at times and if I turn awkwardly I get a severe shooting pain in my knee.I have seen my doc who is sending me to a specialist and arranged physio.what is a knee wash and what does it entail ,she also thinks my menisca is damaged.what treatment can I expect?
i'm a dancer and I can't extend my knee anymore. I don't know what I did to mess it up. but even laying down i have to force myself to extend it. every time i get it extended it sends sharp pain from the lower part of my knee up to my hip bone. I'm only 20 so the thought of knee replacement scares me half to death. I can't start my career in dance until my knee is back to normal.. i've tried icing it, stretching it, biofreeze you name it i've probably tried it.
I recently had an MRI of my knee and lower back.. However I don't know what the diagnosis means. If any one can answer it would be greatly appreciated.. My knee diagnosis is"there is a deep fissuring in the central patellar cartilage that is full thickness.. There is underlying reactive change in the patella..." My back diagnosis is "at L5 S1 there is a mild diffuse disc buldge without central or forminal stenosis..
I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is.
In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Over the past 4 days I have been experiencing pain/Throbbing in my right knee. I do not recall doing any activities which may have damaged it in anyway.
The pain feels like it comes from underneath my knee cap, slightly to the right. It throbbs when I am sat down, and if i move my knee left or right whilst my foot is on the floor I get a very sharp shooting pain which makes me jump.
began having rt knee nerve pain radiating down to foot. Orthopedic specialist gave cortisone in knee eventually causing numbness knee down. Then bone pain began, feeling like marrow is boiling, which spread over several weeks to every bone head to toe making concentration difficult. Soft tissue numbness has come & gone & come again several times. Now he complains of SOA following cold symptoms. Cold gone. SOA not.

However, I have terrible joints but especially knee pain. My right knee gives me more trouble than the left. IThe pain that I am experiencing is strange to me in that it is not always there. Currently, it is full force, but not all the time, only in certain situations. For example, if I am just standing straight up, there is no pain. My right knee feels a bit funny, but nothing in the form of pain.
it also gives out every now and then, and now i also am experiencing a shooting pain that feels cold and radiates partly down to my upper calf bone, and after the shooting pain is over, the knee feels very cold and achy. (this pain i am describing is occurring inside the knee, and not on the exterior.
any ideas?
Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive.

ago I started having knee pain. I twisted my knee at work, and had to kneel for a long time behind my class who were performing on stage. Well, over the last couple wks the pain has gotten worse and worse. Today I CANNOT put weight on it and it is swollen. The pain originates on the inside of my knee, not in the soft spot next to the patella, but outside that. At this pt. the pain has spread all over my knee, but to touch it is super tender in that inside spot.
the pain is at the right side of my right knee, its situated near the fibula, not indicating that my bone is the one hurting, the pain is distinctive as it only hurts in a manner or form of a thread, the pain doesn't take up all of the right part of my knee, its just a thread shape pain that seems to extend from the femur down to the fibula.
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. The treatment is usually conservative, and involves anti-inflammatory medications, pain killers, rest followed by physiotherapy. Sometimes the degenerated portion is sucked out and partial menisectomy is performed. The treatment will depend on the level of degeneration. Try and consult a sports injury specialist or an orthopedic specialist.
It can turn serious if not treated in time. Take care!
Im actually gonna be in a basketball league for the next month or so before i go get it checked out. If its what you say it might be is there something i can do before each game that might help, will stretching out the knee alot beforehand be ok? or will that hurt it more, i have a knee brace im gonna wear to try and help.

The Orthopaedic diagnosed me with having Patella Tendonosis. However, I'm seriously starting to doubt the diagnosis.
