Avatar f tn Hi Freddi, As long as you don't have pain, swelling, discoloration or other symptoms the knee cracking is probably harmless. If you have other symptoms that coincide with the cracking then you should be concerned. However I would not take any one's word as gospel as we are not physicians or experts. Please also consult a physician. Sometimes my knees would crack so loud they could be heard across a room...LOL A bit embarrassing for a female.
Avatar m tn ve noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. For a few days I could feel something move in the same knee when I would walk down stairs. It felt like it was located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. That went away. The right knee doesn't have any issues. There is no pain, tenderness, or swelling involved at all. Does this sound like it could be osteoarthritis?
Avatar f tn I also noticed that I was hearing a lot of popping noises, which is usual, but now I was able to feel movement in my knee and pain when the popping occurred. In addition, when I tried to straighten my knee it would sometimes catch and I'd have to wiggle my knee to get it straight - and sometimes when I did this, something moved in my knee that seemed more like a "clunk" than a pop!
2040443 tn?1329848376 i have been getting popping at the back of my left knee and then pain afterwards.
Avatar m tn But associated symptoms like pain, swelling, deformity if present then complete evaluation is required. The common causes could be arthritis, fractures and ligament tears. Is there any trauma preceeding this? If, NO then the cause for arthritis should be evaluated and treated accordingly. Best.
Avatar f tn I have this clicking or may I say popping sound when ever I put weight of my left knee, or even if I am laying in bed when I straighten out my leg, it seems to make this sound. It really doesn't hurt, just a little uncomfortable. If I place my hand on my knee and swing my leg forward a bit, I can actually feel the bones rubbing and clicking against each other.
Avatar f tn The following week after another comp he had a lot of pain and his knee was visibly popping when he walked. since then he has had muscle spasms, pins and needles, cracking and locking up of the knee, He had a straight knee splint for a week, then a knee brace which didnt help and has now been put in plaster from thigh to ankle to immoblise the knee. The ortho dr said he sprained his knee and soft tissues and has loose joints and more prone to this kind of thing.
Avatar m tn My left knee always pops while my right knee never pops. Also, the left knee pops about 40 times a day when i am standing. So my questions are 1. Why does only one knee pop? 2. What does all this popping mean?
Avatar m tn If flexing the knee and hip to the 90/90 position and rotating the hip internally produces pain and popping, this supports the diagnosis of torn labrum over hip flexor strain. Absence of pain with this maneuver tends to eliminate torn labrum. If wrapping the hip eliminates the pain, and you are satisfied with that, I would be inclined to continue with that. As far as the long term, I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer to that question presently.
Avatar n tn The pain was really bad, both the front and back of the knee. I never experienced clicking/popping in that knee prior. But suddenly it was happening all the time. As the pain subsided the clicking/popping got worse. It has been a couple months, the clicking/popping still very much there. I tried working out again for the first time in months last Wednesday, and felt nothing during the workout or afterwards.
Avatar m tn From last one month i am suffering from popping knee and some swelling in my knee.
Avatar m tn I play ice hockey, and over the last 5 years I have had recurring knee issues with my right knee. My right knee clicks and pops a lot when I walk. Now, tha doesn't generally cause pain, but any time this problem does occur, it is accompanied by related issues with it. For example, if I try to get on my knees (happens a lot in hockey) I have a lot of trouble and pain getting up off my right knee. I feel like the shin moves inward.
Avatar f tn I had two screws placed about inch-2 inches below knee. I was told no weight baring etc. However, I have been walking on it. Today the pain is so intense stabbing burning pain and popping when I walk.....
Avatar f tn It is really starting to depress me. I have a popping and pulling feeling in my knee that causes excessive pain. My doctor, who I never get to see, I see a physicans assisstant just put me in a knee brace and told me to take over the counter pain meds. She said I need to have a bone scan but can't do that until a hot spot on my knee goes away. I just want this fixed. I have contacted another doctor for second opinion, but am waiting on my doctors office to send medical records.
Avatar f tn Long story short, I've had knee pain since the end of last oct. I had a mri that showed a meniscus tear, a bakers cyst and some fluid. My dr. said they could all be normal and to do pt. in the end my knee never got better. and later got worse. I had a new mri which i have pics up. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. btw. my symptoms are sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my right knee.
Avatar m tn I had surgery for a meniscus tear 6 years ago.Now the same pain and symptoms are back again. What are the chances of it being another tear?
Avatar n tn I do not feel any popping or grinding. Most pain is across the top of the knee cap and along the interior side of my knee. The pain is present while walking, climbing stairs and when I first stand after sitting for a long period of time. Additionally, if I stand for too long, my knee is extremely sore and stiff. The worst pain is that which wakes my in the middle of the night at least 1-2 times per week.
Avatar m tn Possible causes of knee pain that may need to be considered include inflammations, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, cyst formation, injuries to the internal knee ligaments/ menisci, chondromalacia patellae, loose bodies, patellar dislocation, nerve impingement/ compression, neuropathy, vascular issues, bone growths/ tumours etc; just to name a few. The ankle and wrist issues would need to be looked into similarly.
Avatar f tn My right knee was causing much pain on the outside area, and when I would walk it felt like my knee would try to slip out of joint. Like the outter area of my knee was pulling it out. I went and saw a specialist, they took an x-ray and didn't see any damage. He moved my leg around in every motion possible and said I more than likely tore my meniscus again on the outside and that is why it is giving out.
Avatar f tn I had a total left knee replacement Dec.18th.2007 and was wondering if having constant pain on the inside part of the knee is normal.Sometimes I also get a sharp pain there.Lately I've also been getting some pain shooting down the shin bone. This is new wasn't having that before my replacement. Also does everyones knee pop all the time.Mine does anytime the leg is moved I can hear it when I walk and actually with any movement.
Avatar m tn An orthopedic sx preforms a knee arthroscopy and debrides or cuts out the tear/smoothing the area. Popping, clicking and pain are symptoms of a tear. OTC anti inflamatories and elevating the knee reduces the swelling and pain.but will not heal the condition. If tear/damage is severe enough arthritis develops as menisci acts like a cushion between the knee joint.
5664897 tn?1375480696 Hi iamaustralian, I just finished reading your comments. You said you have pain in your knee and thigh? I would make an appointment with your family doctor and have someone take you there. I think your family doctor could examine your knee and thigh and advise you what he or she thinks. Popping your knee isn't a good idea. Do you go to a chiropractor by any chance? Anyway, I would make an appointment with your family doctor to begin with and see what your doctor says. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I had knee pain in outer side of knee while playing soccer. I took serratiopeptidase + diclofenac potassium capsule by doctors advice. I took rest for 2 weeks but when I started playing it started again. Please advice.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have Knee pain after broken ankle.. Is it related to the injury of the tibia & fibulia? The knee cap was popping ..on the same side I have the plate. When I asked my doctor he said the drs at the insurance co would say it is hereditary & would have happened anyway.... He ordered therapy..The therapist said i have no arch on the foot. He put a pad in to help with my arch..It only pops occasionally now..I still have knee pain..Esp when it is stationary for a time..
