Avatar n tn After that, running and jumping has caused much pain in my knee. I went to an athletic trainer and they told me I had tendinitis and to ice and take ibuprofen. It continues to be very painful during practice. I can feel rubbing and clicking in my knee when I walk. What is wrong with my knee? Should I still be playing basketball or will it make it worse?
Avatar m tn I was still experiencing pain and tightness in my knee as well as in the quad tendon but have been able to resume training with running, squatting, jumping, etc. Laying on my back, lifting my leg, and bending my leg back and forth usually creates some discomfort and a little grinding in the knee. At night prior to going to bed I always stretch. The other night I was performing the couch stretch. During the stretch I heard and felt a very loud pop directly in my knee.

Avatar n tn I've had this knee pain (left and right) for almost a yr already. The symptoms are as follows: Grinding / grating sensation upon flexing the knee. Aching pain at and below the patella. Difficulty straightening the knee. Pain is most servere when putting weight or pressure on it. Pain can be felt when climbing up the stairs, jumping, running and standing for prolonged periods. In addition, pain can be felt behind the knee cap.
Avatar f tn Whenever i squat or bend my knees they make a lot of popping and grinding sound, and sometimes when i'm sitting and move it a certain way i cannot make them go straight without pain and then a pop. Also when I ice skate or roller blade the medial side of my left knee cap hurts and the lateral side of my right one, what does this mean if anything?
Avatar m tn Its definitely more intense in my right foot (the one with the bubble) then my left. But there is only pain when running/jumping. Sometimes I slightly feel it when walking down the stairs but its very light, maybe its even in my head. Help.

Avatar f tn My legs feel like they want to still be running and I have to shake them or walk around to get relief. I do elevate them on pillows and that seems to help. I don't have pain in them but they feel funny and it is very uncomfortable. What do you think this could be.
Avatar m tn hello, I play volleyball, which is hard on the knees from diving to jumping all the time... a few months ago I dove and hit my knee on the groung very hard. My knee pain went away and it recently has come back. It feels like a knife goes into my knee right below my knee cap every time i jump or put a lot of pressure on it like trying to stand up. I have been icing it, but it won't go away....Does anyone 1. Know what is wrong? or 2. Know how to fix it?
Avatar f tn Patients usually feel pretty good and think they can avoid these critically important steps, and even start running and jumping before the internal aspects of the knee, and the joint surface are ready.Healing also depends on the severity of the cartilage damage and any other conditions existing in the knee. You need not worry and follow up ypur doctor regularly.
Avatar f tn t want to keep having this pain. I took most of the month of October off to rest my knee and will lose all of my fitness if I continue to miss weeks. I know this has been a really long post -- thank you for reading it. Any information that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I have an appointment on Wednesday with someone who practices Active Release Technique and hope that will relieve the hamstrings and the muscles going into the pes tendon.
Avatar m tn Ask your doctor or physical therapist about flexibility and strength exercises to optimize your technique for jumping, running and pivoting — and to help the patella track properly in its groove. Especially important is exercise for your outer hip muscles to prevent your knee from caving inward when you squat, land from a jump, or step down from a step. Lose excess pounds. If you're overweight, losing the extra weight relieves stress on your knees. Warm up.
193137 tn?1367880063 I had a similar problem and I felt the same, thinking it was cruel to knee my dog in the chest. When I tried it out I got him in the head a couple of times. But eventually it worked. Still he likes to jump but now it is in front of me and not on me. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I really enjoy running but recently (about a week ago) I ran 3 miles, which is really nothing for me, but about the middle of my run, i had this really sharp pain in my left knee. This particular knee has had complications like soreness and tightness before. This time though, the pain was much worse. I ended up running an 8 mile route yesterday and once again, the pain was horrible. I had to try and "walk it off" but that seems to intensify the pain.
Avatar n tn A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain. I can still handle the back pain cause it stops after 30 minutes of training, and returnes after it (I don't care as long as I can play), but knee pain in my left knee is horrible. Yesterday I jumped and felt as like someone is stabbing me with a knife in my knee. I couldn't stand on my left leg for 10 minutes, and after that it still hurts a bit, but I can walk nicely today.

Avatar n tn It includes the articulation between the tibia and femur (leg and thigh) and the patella (knee cap) and femur. The most common knee problems in running relate to what is called the "patellofemoral complex". This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon. What is now called patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) has also been called runner's knee, anterior knee pain, or chondromalacia of the patella.
Avatar f tn She had a recheck 6 months later and there were no problems in her growth plates and all seemed to be fine. Since then she has been waking up screaming and kicking with pain behind her knee right in the middle across the crease where the knee bends. She does this 2 or 3 times a month. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. Sometimes we have done a lot of walking, she has done a bunch of jumping, running, etc. And sometimes not. There is no swelling, redness or warmth to the area.

Avatar f tn I'm 7 weeks. I work hard and most days my knee flares pain. Never had it before anyone else?
Avatar f tn I am 26 and have had knee pain for 2 years. I have been living in Asia and have had a difficult time finding a doctor that a) speaks English and b) is helpful in diagnosing the problem. Most doctors have said they are not sure what the problem is and that I should just rest and take pain medication. After 2 years of doing this I am becoming really frustrated.
Avatar f tn I have been doing Crossfit for 2 months now and have crepitus, along with minimal swelling and pain with weight bearing during my squats. Extension ,stretching ,running and jumping never causes pain, only when squatting. My primary physician is treating me with Mobic( anit-inflammatory) ,Glucosamine daily and cold compresses nightly. All this helps, but pain is still there along with pain and swelling returning daily. Ive become irritated with the problem now...ready for a change.
