Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain popping

knee-pain

Avatar m tn My left knee always pops while my right knee never pops. Also, the left knee pops about 40 times a day when i am standing. So my questions are 1. Why does only one knee pop? 2. What does all this popping mean?
Avatar f tn Hi Freddi, As long as you don't have pain, swelling, discoloration or other symptoms the knee cracking is probably harmless. If you have other symptoms that coincide with the cracking then you should be concerned. However I would not take any one's word as gospel as we are not physicians or experts. Please also consult a physician. Sometimes my knees would crack so loud they could be heard across a room...LOL A bit embarrassing for a female.
Avatar n tn The pain was really bad, both the front and back of the knee. I never experienced clicking/popping in that knee prior. But suddenly it was happening all the time. As the pain subsided the clicking/popping got worse. It has been a couple months, the clicking/popping still very much there. I tried working out again for the first time in months last Wednesday, and felt nothing during the workout or afterwards.
Avatar m tn From last one month i am suffering from popping knee and some swelling in my knee.
Avatar f tn I had two screws placed about inch-2 inches below knee. I was told no weight baring etc. However, I have been walking on it. Today the pain is so intense stabbing burning pain and popping when I walk.....
Avatar f tn My right knee was causing much pain on the outside area, and when I would walk it felt like my knee would try to slip out of joint. Like the outter area of my knee was pulling it out. I went and saw a specialist, they took an x-ray and didn't see any damage. He moved my leg around in every motion possible and said I more than likely tore my meniscus again on the outside and that is why it is giving out.
Avatar f tn The following week after another comp he had a lot of pain and his knee was visibly popping when he walked. since then he has had muscle spasms, pins and needles, cracking and locking up of the knee, He had a straight knee splint for a week, then a knee brace which didnt help and has now been put in plaster from thigh to ankle to immoblise the knee. The ortho dr said he sprained his knee and soft tissues and has loose joints and more prone to this kind of thing.
Avatar f tn I have this clicking or may I say popping sound when ever I put weight of my left knee, or even if I am laying in bed when I straighten out my leg, it seems to make this sound. It really doesn't hurt, just a little uncomfortable. If I place my hand on my knee and swing my leg forward a bit, I can actually feel the bones rubbing and clicking against each other.
5664897 tn?1375480696 Hi iamaustralian, I just finished reading your comments. You said you have pain in your knee and thigh? I would make an appointment with your family doctor and have someone take you there. I think your family doctor could examine your knee and thigh and advise you what he or she thinks. Popping your knee isn't a good idea. Do you go to a chiropractor by any chance? Anyway, I would make an appointment with your family doctor to begin with and see what your doctor says. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I had knee pain in outer side of knee while playing soccer. I took serratiopeptidase + diclofenac potassium capsule by doctors advice. I took rest for 2 weeks but when I started playing it started again. Please advice.
Avatar m tn ve noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. For a few days I could feel something move in the same knee when I would walk down stairs. It felt like it was located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. That went away. The right knee doesn't have any issues. There is no pain, tenderness, or swelling involved at all. Does this sound like it could be osteoarthritis?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have Knee pain after broken ankle.. Is it related to the injury of the tibia & fibulia? The knee cap was popping ..on the same side I have the plate. When I asked my doctor he said the drs at the insurance co would say it is hereditary & would have happened anyway.... He ordered therapy..The therapist said i have no arch on the foot. He put a pad in to help with my arch..It only pops occasionally now..I still have knee pain..Esp when it is stationary for a time..
Avatar f tn I also noticed that I was hearing a lot of popping noises, which is usual, but now I was able to feel movement in my knee and pain when the popping occurred. In addition, when I tried to straighten my knee it would sometimes catch and I'd have to wiggle my knee to get it straight - and sometimes when I did this, something moved in my knee that seemed more like a "clunk" than a pop!
2040443 tn?1329848376 i have been getting popping at the back of my left knee and then pain afterwards.
Avatar m tn I can actually HEAR it crunching and popping! It causes quite a bit of pain every now and then, some days worse than others. Sometimes it almost even feels numb around the kneecap. I went to see a doctor about it who swore it wasn't my bone but rather the tissue, just by feeling my knee. I swear it IS my knee but I'm not the professional so whatever.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar f tn I am a 20 year old female college student who is fairly healthy and exercises regularly (3-4 times per week). For 1 month I have been experiencing pain in my left knee. The pain occurs mostly above the knee cap and slightly along both sides. I have never had any knee injuries nor do I remember injuring it prior to when the pain began. I made a doctor's appt for February 22nd but it seems to be getting worse and i'm not sure if I will be able to handle the pain.
Avatar n tn Lately I've been having this popping in my knee cap when i stand or just plain walking. My knee will give out and sometimes stiffen up and it is very painful. I'm 29 and overweight I'm 5-6 and 210lbs. i think it might be to much weight on my knees, because I;ve never been this big before, but I'm not sure. If there is any pain medicine that you can suggest I would really appreciate it.
Avatar m tn sudden knee pain during pt and continued pain interior medial aspect. medic took xrays - all ok. Soft tissue issues. therapist can feel the popping of (muscle, ligament, tendon???) during flexion and extension. It feels like something has to pop over something else for leg to straighten. It hurts when it does. Occurs during weight-beating and non weight bearing. Therapist says muscle may be increasing in bulk but not stretching out causing other soft tissues??? to have to pop over them.

Avatar n tn It got a little better then the knee started popping or catching with lateral movement. No pain with the popping, but it really feels odd. The pain in the knee from staightening it out has returned. Has anyone else experienced this problem? What did you do for it? I love to train but I don't want to do any perminate damage. Suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn My first knee replacement was in 2002. Second one was in 2003 (on the other knee). For a number of years now I have had pain in my "knees". Even the tissue surrounding them. I've noticed that I can hear the prosthesis move when I move my leg. I swing my legs and they make a funny noise. Today I went to an orthopaedic surgeon about another (unrelated) problem and asked him about the pain in my knees.
Avatar m tn If flexing the knee and hip to the 90/90 position and rotating the hip internally produces pain and popping, this supports the diagnosis of torn labrum over hip flexor strain. Absence of pain with this maneuver tends to eliminate torn labrum. If wrapping the hip eliminates the pain, and you are satisfied with that, I would be inclined to continue with that. As far as the long term, I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer to that question presently.
