Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain pop

knee

Avatar f tn But then up and pain subsided. Possibly knee cap moved back in place. Now then in morning knee lil swollen, pain when walking, no bending or squatting which would lead my proffessional opinion to be you over streched tendons, possibly a slight tear. Use an ice pack for 2 days twice a day 30 mins each. No more weights till Friday. If everything returns to normal leave the squats out for an additional week. However by this Friday if knee is still the same, go see family doctor.
Avatar m tn I felt no discomfort then, but each day afterward for about a week I felt first pain on the lateral side of the knee, then the pain moved to the medial side of the knee, now the only discomfort is on the posterior portion of the knee in the soft tissue with my leg straight as I walk. It was bad enough last week that I was limping, (almost ready for a cane) but it was intermittent. What happened to my knee and what should I do to heal it and for how long?
1850203 tn?1325253608 the pain of the knee is at the side of the knee cap. sometimes it (the bump) will pop out -- whenever I get up from a chair. I pop it back in by sitting down again and raising the lower leg. this might be from an injury when I was 4 when thrown down from a stool and landing on knees several times. thank you.
Avatar n tn then I try to straighten it out it hurts a bit then I feel and hear a pop. Then the pain and ache goes away. What could this be?

How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar n tn i am constantly on my feet and struggle getting up from kneeling. i have pain when playing sport and when im relaxing. my knee does constantly pop and click. anyone got any ideas that would help me would be great.
Avatar f tn I have dislocated my left knee 6 times throughout my life, my right knee never gave me any problems until 2-3 years ago when the only way to stop the pain was to overextend my knee and force it to pop. Until it pops, I have awful pain that is on the inside on my knee and underneath my kneecap and sometimes I have shooting pain go from under my kneecap all the way up the center/middle of my thigh to my hip.
5664897 tn?1375480696 Ive been having this pain in my knee and thy, and it randomly appeared one afternoon day, and it wont go away, now it feels like I need to pop it but I cant, I hurts to bend it quickly. But not slowly. Would this be early joint pains?
18497060 tn?1465345701 When I get up from sitting down, I will get a sharp pain from the back of my knee and my leg starts to buckle. I feel a loud pop. Sometimes at night I will go to straighten my leg out and I have to straighten it out very slowly until my knee pops. I also have a crunching sound underneath my knee cap. Any insight or help would be great.
Avatar n tn Every now and then (maybe every other week), I will stand up and my right knee will feel like it is about to pop. It hurts pretty bad. It is the same tension/pressure feeling when you crack your knuckles, but without the resolve at the end. I'd say the pain is near the lower right part of my knee. Usually i will quickly spring all the weight to my other leg, and it usually happens a few steps after i have gotten out of a chair.
Avatar f tn When I have it resting in front of me and I press on the kneecap, it seems to “rock” back and forth, while popping. The other knee does not pop and seems much more secure. The pops don’t really hurt, but it is uncomfortable. I know I have been favoring it more since it has been injured, so could that be the cause of some of the pops and pain? Will it make a difference if I see a doctor now or later, at this point? Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn During the stretch I heard and felt a very loud pop directly in my knee. The past few days I have had significantly less pain and pressure in my knee. I'm able to do many of my athletic movements without any pain during the exercise or residual pain the next day. I'm looking for any help to explain what potentially the pop was and why I have significantly less pain now. Any chance that the pain and pressure could return? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
5715171 tn?1372914664 I ran a mile. I started stretching and *bam* my left knee started to feel weird. When I stand, or make my leg straight it feels as if it wants to pop or something, not sure how to explain it. I get a small sharp pain when I bend my knee. I might have overstretched it? I don't know what to do and I need quick answers to know if I should keep running or take a break? I'm 14, female. Thanks.
Avatar m tn My left knee always pops while my right knee never pops. Also, the left knee pops about 40 times a day when i am standing. So my questions are 1. Why does only one knee pop? 2. What does all this popping mean?
Avatar m tn I had a meniscus injury almost 2years ago a tear in left knee due to gym exercise while doing thighs exercise and from that time I was exercising my legs and their was no more pain after nearly 8 month , just yesterday I did the same movement once again and I hearted a pop in the same knee and a little pain with a bending movement in the same place after examining it by my self by pressing on the spot is it possible that the tear had happened once again ...
Avatar m tn sudden knee pain during pt and continued pain interior medial aspect. medic took xrays - all ok. Soft tissue issues. therapist can feel the popping of (muscle, ligament, tendon???) during flexion and extension. It feels like something has to pop over something else for leg to straighten. It hurts when it does. Occurs during weight-beating and non weight bearing. Therapist says muscle may be increasing in bulk but not stretching out causing other soft tissues??? to have to pop over them.
293157 tn?1285873439 I awoke with popping knee but no pain one day until finally in the afternoon there was a giant pop and excruciating pain from the front of my knee all the way across and backward into the knee. I was able to see my husband's orthopedic doctor that same day and then was started on a physical therapy routine to strengthen my upper leg muscles to hold the knee cap in place. It is simply a group of exercises that I can do at home. I saw the therapist for a few weeks to practice the exercises.
4671444 tn?1357794171 felt like I had no control weak knee then it pop not once put three times omg did it hurt, swelling, stayed off it but came back. I had a torn tendon 4 yrs ago so today I got a MRI hoping that will explain.
Avatar f tn I never felt anything give or pop. On Tuesday, I woke up with severe knee pain. It feels really unstable and hurts when I walk.
Avatar m tn Knee replaced 11-13-09. Finally felt I've been making some progress until yesterday. During therapy, performing lateral steps over 6" hurdles, I felt a sudden pain and kind of a pop on the interior medial aspect, a little toward the back of the knee. During the course of the day, I would experience sudden pain causing me to yell out, even when non-weight bearing. My wife appreciates this.
1308443 tn?1302693321 This weekend my right knee began to have pain at the top of my knee cap. It feels like it is stuck on the pop. I can still get my knee to pop but it still feels like it is stuck on another pop. Usually my knees only hurt on the bottom or on the sides but never on the top. What is this? I know that my knee can't get stuck on air but that's what it feels like. What is going on and how do I get it to stop?
Avatar m tn I was playing tennis and after sprinting I went to plant my foot my knee twisted, I heard a pop, and it gave out. It swelled up and hurt pretty bad. After about 2 weeks, the swelling went away and it didn't hurt too bad. Even though the pain went away, the knee just hasn't felt right. The best way i could describe it is sometimes the knee feels like it wants to turn inside out. It also feels if I were to put all of my weight on it that it would give out.
Avatar f tn t walk up or down stairs or hills without more pain. There is also pain when I inadvertently twist my knee (if I turn while walking) or if I try to get up from a sitting position by placing most of my weight on that leg. My confusion lies in the usual symptoms of meniscal injuries - I've had no swelling, my knee doesn't lock completely. Is this a meniscal tear? Could it be that an old injury is starting to cause this years later?
1744364 tn?1311780484 I would like to ask an expert if he/she would recommend/perform knee arthroscopy on me based on the following information. I have had chronic knee pain for the last 16 or so months. My knees lock up and "pop" back out often and it is painful. An MRI of my left knee in June 2010 showed no evidence of a meniscal tear, which the doctor, upon examining it was quite certain was the case. The MRI just showed some inflammation. I got my first cortisone shot the same day.
Avatar f tn ( but i have a lot of pain in my knee, and my hip today. I sometimes get this pain that radiates from my ankles, up to my knee and right now i just feel it in my knee, its a very uncomfortable feeling.
Avatar m tn Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. You will need X-rays and MRIs of the knee to find the exact. Treatment will follow correct diagnosis.
Avatar f tn My knees crack every time I stand up. But the real problem is with my right knee. Anywhere from 1-3 times a year my knee will pop out of place. Not sure if it's dislocating or subluxating. Essentially, my patella feels like it's sliding off to the side (lateral) and only returns to its normal position if I straighten my knee or wait a few minutes for it to return by itself. The pain is terrible.
