Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain noise

knee

Avatar f tn Hi. I am experiencing a noise from my knee every time I walk up stairs or hills. I've been doing some hill work lately and the noise is really starting to get to me. I don't think I had any pain or swelling (but now that I'm worried I feel it may be hurting a little. I'm not sure if this is real or perceived.). It is only in my right knee. Earlier today I felt that it was giving way but this felt minor.
Avatar m tn But even after one year the noise in the knee and pain was not reduced. Noise and pain especially while raising the leg in sitting position and considerably less during waling. Now the normal left knee is also started pain. Please let me know the noise and pain the affected knee is sign for arthritis?
Avatar m tn It really matters what kind of noise it is in your knee and if it is accompanied by pain. If it is just occasionally popping with no pain, it could be nothing and some exercise like knee bends could strengthen your knee. On the other hand, it is painful too especially with swelling you may want to see a doc. If your knee is making a grinding noise for example it could mean that the cartilage is wearing down.
Avatar f tn I don't think so you should be concerned. Joint noise are common & it is called cavitation. If you pain & there is a noise of cracking or clicking than you should consult the doctor.
Avatar f tn My first knee replacement was in 2002. Second one was in 2003 (on the other knee). For a number of years now I have had pain in my "knees". Even the tissue surrounding them. I've noticed that I can hear the prosthesis move when I move my leg. I swing my legs and they make a funny noise. Today I went to an orthopaedic surgeon about another (unrelated) problem and asked him about the pain in my knees.
Avatar m tn But recently I am facing that my knee joint is paining and feeling some noise form last year when I walk or stand for some while. But I do not lift heavy weight things or carry. I have visited number of doctors but all of them suggested calcium 500 mg once or twice daily for 2 to 3 months, but Still I have the problem and found or felt no improvement. I don't know what to do. I am a teacher, so I have to stand before white board to take classes for 2 or 3 hours daily.
Avatar f tn What could be the cause of knee pain, especially when bending in a 35 year old? A lot of crunching noise. Doctor said knees "felt" normal and x ray was normal. There is a ortho referral in place. Has been an issue for years but is now interfering with activity. Patient is active and exercises the knees.

Avatar f tn Hi, I was travelling in a bus. Driver applied a break, I didn't even move from the position, but I heard a sound from my right knee - "clukk". Next days onwards the pain started. I had been to physician, he said there might be a ligament tear...advised on tablets. But no use, then had advised me to wear knee cap for few days. I was feeling better with knee cap. I removed it after 25 days, it was little better for 2 days, then again the pain is back.
Avatar n tn I will just be walking around and it makes a cracking/popping sound. There is not pain- just noise. It is not the ankle and it is not the knee. It is a different sound than when a joint pops. It is louder than a joint popping. It almost sounds like when a piece of wood in the fireplace pops or cracks when you light a fire. (sorry that is the only way to describe it). There is no swelling, no redness, no bruising. Even when I palpitate the area there is no pain.
Avatar f tn I kept having pain towards the inner part of my knee (where both knees rub onto each other). My case was reopened again, my employee requested that I get an MRI better & until further notice not work so that I wouldnt get more injured. I stopped working on June 17, 08. Waited a while for Worker's comp to contact me & get an MRI approved. After MRI was done, turns out all along I had a meniscus tear on my R knee, inner part (where I was complaining all along that it hurt).
Avatar f tn I have hip dysplasia in both of my hips. My left hip is rotated to far out. This is causing my ankle and knee to be pointing to the left more than it should. I was told by my doctor that this could cause some discomfort. But recently, it has been hurting a lot. My left ankle hurts on the outside part of my foot, next to the ankle bone, and up and down that area. It doesn't hurt much when I'm standing on it or walking, and it is not swollen at all.
Avatar m tn In May 2013 had knee surgery of the right knee then July 2013 had the left knee done. I continued to have a lot of pain and problem. Went to ER due to the pain and the doctor told me if I could get a second opinion and friends also told me that. I got a 2nd opinion. The second doctor told me the implant was oversized. He did the surgery over and put in the right size of implant in Dec 2013. Am still having a lot of pain and problems. Going for another opinion this month.
Avatar f tn My knee still only has about 95 degree range of motion. There is an audible crunching noise when my knee extends from a bent position. My orthopedic specialist has prescribed continued physical therapy. I have not had an MRI to assess damages. If PT shows significant progress, do you think a second opinion and/or MRI is necessary?
Avatar f tn whenever i sit down and bend my knees, there is a cracking sound and its so loud that people arond me start looking at me and i feel quite embarassed...though i dont feel any pain. plz tell me how to stop this sound.
Avatar f tn A couple weeks ago I was cleaning and I got down on my knees to clean up a spill and when I was getting up I heard a pop that sounded like a gun going off and it hurt now if I bend my knee it catches and I have to force it to straighten when it straightens it makes a thunk kinda sound and the knee looks like it shifts. I hope this makes sense I have no insurance right now but hope to have it in the next 30 to 60 days but if anyone can give me a hint on what could be wrong I would be so greatful.
Avatar f tn ve had this weird sound with this knee for well over a year now, and still no pain whatsoever nor limitations. I will still avoid incurring the sound as much as possible. Next time I have to see my GP, I will mention it to him.
Avatar f tn 1. If there is an obvious clicking noise in the knee, or your dog occasionally collapses on the affected hind leg, than is it highly probable that there is a meniscus tear. Your vet probably palpated (palpation = diagnostic touch) the knee and was able to feel crepitus (crackling) and clicking. 2. Maybe it was only a partial tear and not a complete tear. These can on occasion get better. Osteophyte formation can also stabilize the knee a bit. 3.
159619 tn?1707018272 When I tore my right MCL, I never got fluid in the knee and the level of pain is getting considerably worse on the new injury from my experience with the previous injury on my right knee. Would it help to have the fluid drained from my left knee to releive the pain? Also, what else could I have damaged that would be causing fluid on the knee? Any suggestions on how to function in the mean time would also be greatly appreciated, the pain is getting unbearable.
Avatar m tn The other leg is perfectly fine in those positions, suffering from neither the stiffness nor the pain in those positions. There is never any swelling in the problem knee. I have some crepitis in both knees but have had this for 10 years with no pain (basically some crackling noise when going up stairs).
Avatar n tn What causes pain and crunching noise on my shoulder joints and my foot joints and my knee?
251315 tn?1198196557 Hello inmajortrouble, Hello and welcome to the USA and MedHelp. First let me clarify that I am not a physician or qualified to diagnosis you knee issues. I can only offer you my opinion. That said, a lot of peoples knees "click" and "crack" loud. My father's knees did this for years and my brothers does the same. Physicians claim that it is "normal" for some people. They use to make joke about my brother loud knees when he went to school.
Avatar m tn three months i quit the job then the pain felt very bad. went away but i have a weird cracking feeling in my knee like the joints where the knee joints. i had insurance couple of months ago and had a complete stranger come to my house for knee therapy that didn't work out. I then cancled it. told me to do some stupid twisting knee excersie. i tried therapy for two months didn't work out. then i just put a knee strap using a old cut up sock. like a hommade brace tignting my knee.
