I started having unexplainable severe knee pain. No idea how or why. No injury, no swelling, no bruising. I had my knee examined, Xrays done, and everything looked great. I decided to change the sneakers I was using to exercise and actually use sneakers when using the eliptical at home and as God is my witness - problem solved!!!!!!!! No more knee pain.

My husband only is wearing the braces. For pain and swelling he just takes advil/motrin. His swelling is not bad when he wears his braces. He is concerned when he takes his braces off of a swelling/bump on the lower outside part of his knee cap. Coming down the stairs Saturday his knee gave way and he fell the last couple of steps down the stairs, this is worrying him. If I understand you correctly my husband knee could have arthritis in it and his x-ray and MRI would not show anything.
I have knee pain in my right knee when I kneel down on it.About a year ago the same knee for some reason unknown to me got very swollen & had to use crutches for about a week. Anyway when I kneel down it is like kneeling on a tack. Then it has a sensation of a rug burn to the touch. After about five times of this happening I looked more closely. On the right lower outer edge of knee cap it gets a swell pocket. It does not swell up the entire knee just this oval like shaped pocket.
I have knee pain and swelling that comes and goes. I have been to an Orthopedic and have had x-rays and MRI. Nothing specific was noted in the x-ray and scan. The Dr suggested orthoscopic surgery to see what he might be able to do. I have not had the surgery.
He also suggested I may have osteoarthritis. The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all.
I have pain behind my knee and my leg is swollen in the calf. I was checked for blood clot and it was negative. I feel heat coming out of my knee when I place an ice pack on it. It warms the ice pack quickly. My thigh is swollen too, but all the pain is in my knee. It hurts to touch the bones in my knee. My ankles are a little swollen and also the calf on the other leg. I have had a meniscus tear and arthritis in one knee and baker's cyst in the other.
As for swelling in your foot, that could come from the swelling in your knee draining down into your foot due to gravity. Any swelling will make the swollen area tender, even if it's not the injured area. You will probably experience swelling in your knee for a while. Do you keep it elevated at all? You should try to elevate it - above your heart when possible (like when you sleep) - that should help the swelling.
You haven't had much recovery time yet.
Hello. I fell on my left knee about a month ago. The first week, it was painful to walk, but now I have no pain. Only I have a huge swelling above my knee. I can't bent my knee more than 90 degrees because the swelling puts great pressure on my knee and I cannot bend it any more. There is no pain, but the muscles are stiff. The swelling is not sitting directly on the knee, but rather higher up the leg than the knee.
I have minimal swelling above the knee cap but no redness, warmth or presence of a fever. The pain is worse when I am sitting, climbing or coming down stairs, and extending the knee from 90 to 180 degrees. I have major weakness in the joint when standing (almost feels like it's going to "give out" if that makes sense). In the past 3 weeks it has started "popping" when I attempt to extend it. It cracks and makes funny grinding noises.
Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive.

Now unable to put full weight on Lt leg.No swelling behind knee/light swelling above front of knee cap.Pain when bending knee /more pain when bending with Lt toes pointed toward the outside.The snap seemed to come from behind and to the left end of the joint.Soreness/tightness remain. What could be happening?
I had an accident at work beginning of Dec. Huge twist of my right knee/leg and I hit the deck. Instant horrific pain and vast swelling. X-ray shows no fracture. I've been on crutches 36 days, unable to weight bare, swelling reduced from injury but got dvt behind the knee causing vast swelling of calf and foot (still) pain from dvt subsiding now but knee pain more prominent. Can't straighten my leg either. Utterly fed up, confused and frustrated. Another 3 weeks until MRI.
I would like to know when the arthirits starts swelling and you have to get drained..(knee) is there something they can give you or do to help the pain? I can't take getting my knee drained anymore! They do deaden it..but that is a joke!

I have had knee pain for the last 2 and a half years. i am 18 years old. my knee is swollen and changes siz on a regular basis. i have been back and for between my gp and my physiotherapist but my physio has never seen anything like it. i am constantly on my feet and struggle getting up from kneeling. i have pain when playing sport and when im relaxing. my knee does constantly pop and click. anyone got any ideas that would help me would be great.
So, i discontinued exercises and yesterday again i felt further increase in swelling. Then i wrapped the knee brace tightly and elevated my leg with pillow and slept. Today the swelling is some reduced.
Now my question is that why swelling is not reducing further? Is there any precaution i should take? Or any way to end swelling completely. What is the effect of Enzomac tablet i am taking since a month?
There is also been consistent pain and very slight swelling the entire time between attacks. If left alone during the attacks the swelling and pain would die down by itself after about a week. It has been drained 3 times and each time the fluid has been tested and found nothing. Each time it swells it is seemingly random with no injury and with no intense workout or vigorous activity the day or two before.

Thanks for writing in. Bursitis of knee usually presents only with pain. Some amount of swelling and redness can also be present, but that is not the differentiating symptom. It is usually associated with significant pain when kneeling and can cause stiffness and pain with walking. Also, in contrast to problems within the knee joint, the range of motion of the knee is frequently preserved.

Hi! About 9 days ago I got a MCL (medial ligament) sprain on my left knee, doing sports, i'm in my mid 30s. Minor swelling and some pain to knee. The knee started feeling around 80% better about 3 days ago. I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk.
I hurt my knee playing in the floor w/my 2-year old grandson 6 weeks ago. I was crawling & my leg went to the side but it didn't hurt badly. My joints over extended somewhat. The pain & swelling is on the inside of the knee, cannot bear my weight. I self-treated for a while (brace, heat, ibuprofin, worked in a restaurant (bar tending, waitress) and the pain got worse as time passed. I have been to the doctor, had an MRI which revealed swelling & bruising next to the bone.
It started with my left knee just hurting occasionallu, to my knee hurting all the time, to my knee hurting all the time and then occasional swelling, to my knee hurting all the time and it is swollen 24-7. The pain gets so bad that I get what feels like an electric stabbing pain and my knee gives out. And my hips start hurting as well. I tested for RA and it came back as negative, j went to an orthopedic surgeon, and everything came back nothing.
