knee pain no insurance

He had to see a different orthopod for the knee, who wanted an MRI done, but because he has no insurance they would not do it without a down payment of $1000. He does not have this, and I certainly don't, what do we do? He can't get Medicaid, no disability, and of course can't go back to work because he can barely walk. He needs help and I just do not know what to do or where to turn. Can someone help please? Thank you.

my acl had ripped during physical therapy so i had acl replacement on oct. 23 of 07. Ever since then i have had the worse knee pain ever. i can't walk in the morning, severe pain unless i have at least 2 norcos. I don't have insurance but i have paid for a reavulation at the same physical therapy place i went to and they told me that i needed to go to pain management and more surgery for knee replacement. i'm only 18....

My husband has been suffering from severe knee pain after playing gym volleyball. This pain has peristed for more than 3 months now. three months i quit the job then the pain felt very bad. went away but i have a weird cracking feeling in my knee like the joints where the knee joints. i had insurance couple of months ago and had a complete stranger come to my house for knee therapy that didn't work out. I then cancled it. told me to do some stupid twisting knee excersie. i tried therapy for two months didn't work out. then i just put a knee strap using a old cut up sock. like a hommade brace tignting my knee.

"Bad knees" run in my family and I understand how painful and debilitating knee pain can be. Has cortisone been effective for you in the past? If it has not been they usually won't repeat them. As Sandee said the general rule is 3 in a year but I have know physicians that will perform 4.

I started having unexplainable severe knee pain. No idea how or why. No injury, no swelling, no bruising. I had my knee examined, Xrays done, and everything looked great. I decided to change the sneakers I was using to exercise and actually use sneakers when using the eliptical at home and as God is my witness - problem solved!!!!!!!! No more knee pain. I have been doing some work her and there but I have no insurance and can bearly pay my bills. I have gained weight over these past 3 years (I was on my way to losing it on the job but the company shut down, I gained more). Now my knees are killing me ecen after a little time on them. If I sit on a chair for a few minutes, then attempt to move my right knee, or stand up, I will experience excruciating pain all along my joint. It's mostly under my kneecap. My left knee is perfectly fine. The thing is, though, that it isn't because of long periods of inactivity. If I wake up in the morning and sit on a chair for only a few minutes, the pain will be just as bad as it would be during the rest of the day.

I have had many knee injuries over the past few years with considerable chronic pain. MRIs of both knees show tears in the meniscus, bucket tears specifically, as well as grade II MCL tears. In addition to the soft tissue damage, both knees show degenerative OA. I have just relocated and started seeing a new Orthopedic surgeon and he is recommending doing arthroscopic surgeries on both knees which is scheduled for February 3rd.

I went down right away and felt pain in my left knee. Both sides of my knee were a little bit swollen, and I could not bend my knee all the way back. In addition, if I put pressure on the sides of my knee, it hurts and this was after swelling went down. I was able to bear my full weight on my injuried leg without pain at all. I have since then put on a brace to limit my knee movement with icing and elevation.

I can bear weight, but any twists of the knee is an absolute no no. And getting in and out of a car in a nightmare. The pain is on the lower inside of the knee and sort of down to my shin. My knees bruised slightly but the back my legs behind my knee is causing me to have pain; it feels like the vein is sore and the left is slightly swollen. I iced it before my last TRX class and it felt so much better but I wonder if I should continue with my exercise? Is there something that I can do to make it better?

when I do straight leg raises and contract my knee I sometimes encounter that sharp knife pain in knee. Also my knee locks up after doing quad sets and leg raises, Ive been told cause of the weak quadricep that is why? Anyone else out there with this?

Hi, I have Knee pain after broken ankle.. Is it related to the injury of the tibia & fibulia? The knee cap was popping ..on the same side I have the plate. When I asked my doctor he said the drs at the insurance co would say it is hereditary & would have happened anyway.... He ordered therapy..The therapist said i have no arch on the foot. He put a pad in to help with my arch..It only pops occasionally now..I still have knee pain..Esp when it is stationary for a time..

I had coverage with my health insurance for awhile but just as I was about to go see a pain management dr., the insurance ran out. Most of my not going to a dr was because of no health insurance and plain old money. Once I went on medicare, I was able to get insurance again, but when we moved to North Carolina it didn't cover us anymore, so we tried another plan only to find out not many Dr's took that plan.

About 3 days in with this pain my left buttock and behind the left knee started feeling numb (or like a falling asleep feeling). No pain between the buttock and knee. I went to a chiropractor and she said it is not a sciatic pinch because it is not a continuous pain down the leg. My lower back pain is gone, but still have the other pains.

I have been having terrible knee pain for months. I went to my orthopedic and had a x-ray and an mri. the x-ray was normal the mri showed some fluid, a bakers cyst, and a meniscus tear but my orthopedic believed they were normal findings and sent me to pt. which i ended up not being able to complete due to insurance issues. i did my track season bc i couldn't stay away. i went to see her again bc the pain was worse and she said pt again so ive been doing that.

My question is this, how do I approach my Primary care Doctor about refering me to a pain management program? In all honesty, when the pain gets to the point that I can no longer take it, I have been taking pain meds offered to me by my friends,as long as it something that I KNOW I can take without a issues. But I'm tired of being in constant pain, and would like to get into a managment program as soon as possible., Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I have had to quit working, and it is getting hard to walk, and I am afraid the knee will give out, and also the other knee is starting to give me problems.. I have no insurance so the replacement is not an option for probably another year. treatment on the back by pressing at few points with his fingers and a little bit of massage and the pain in the back miracolously disappeared. She has no pain in the back since then but excruating pain in the back of left leg below knee when she stands up. There is absolutely no pain when she is on bed. I don't know what to do. I am just wondering how long it could take for a quad muscle to heal from a direct blow but with no bruising and if the weakness in the VMO muscle could cause my knee to pop and IT band to snap at times and cause pain in my pes anserine bursa. I did see a orthopedic who said he is not sure. X-rays were negative but I have a high deductable insurance so I am trying not to get an MRI.
